Free Falling
(First Person)
...
They say that the world splits in two. One side are the common, normal people. People who don't need to worry about expectations of other people. The other side are the rare and extraordinary people. Ones with amazing talents that surpass any normal human's ability. People who are expected to keep up with those talents. There is one place where people can hone those skills. Hope's Peak Academy. To enter in, you need to be the best of the best. It's not easy entering in, believe me. It was almost luck that I myself entered in. Oh! I realized that I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Flare Shiro. My Ultimate talent is Ultimate Storyteller.
It's not the greatest talent in the world compared to others but apparently it was good enough for Hope's Peak. This would be the day that I first entered the school. I got in a little later than others. Like a month after they stopped scouting for this year. I'll still be on schedule with the others in first day but compared to the rest of them, I'm the new girl. It's going to be very awkward. I stood in front of the tall, looming school and gazed upon it. It was huge! I felt like a mushroom compared to it. I wonder how will I make my way through the school if it's this big on the inside as it is on the outside. I stepped in and (after a difficult time with the receptionist) found my classroom. However when I got there, it was empty. Am I early or late? I wondered. There was a note taped to a desk. I carefully made sure that I wouldn't rip it when I untaped the note. It had the Hope's Peak symbol on it so I assume it's from someone here, like a teacher. However the note was written informally like a student or a child wrote it. It read, 'Upupupu~ you're late. Do not worry. Just step through that door and I'll send someone to bring you to your classmates. Have fun~!' I felt like I should be concerned about this. First of all, how am I late? I got here nearly on time (or 5 minutes no in between). Second of all what door? I looked up and saw a door at the end of the classroom. That's odd, I didn't notice that when I first came in. Third of all, who's coming to get me? Fourth of all, I wanted to not make a noisy appearance, to not drag attention to myself. Now thanks to this schedule change, I'm mostly likely going to gain attention in the worst possible way. I can't talk to new people, I get all stuttery and sometimes the words can't come out right. And finally fifth of all, have fun? What on earth does that mean? I crumbled up the note and held it tightly in my fist. I guess I don't have a choice do I? I thought. I set down the crumbled up note and looked at the door.
I guess I should walk through, I thought and turned the handle of the doorknob. I opened it and a wave of dizziness hit me. What the-? My mind turned blank. I don't remember falling asleep at all. In fact, after that encounter I don't remember what happened afterwards. All I remember was this. I woke up somewhere that had metal. My vision was blurry thanks to the sleepiness so I couldn't tell where I was. I blinked a couple of times and rubbed the gunk out of my eyes. There, I can finally see and I was...in a helicopter? Not a good twist and certainly I wasn't expecting it. I got on my knees and tried to see who was flying. This got an unenthusiastic scream from me as I saw who was piloting the helicopter. It was a big black and white bear with a red bolt on its left side of its face. It turned around to look at me and set the helicopter on autopilot before it began to jump rhythmically towards me. Nope! Not today Satan! I mentally screamed and tried to get out of a tight spot. This was a bad idea because I accidentally leaned on the door and the bear pressed a button that opened the door, causing things to fall out. Including me. Was I wearing a seatbelt at the time? Nope! Biggest mistake that I made in my life. I fell through the air, unable to take control of my own body. It was like it wanted me to plummet to my own death. My scarf kept flittering up in my face and I kept swiping it away to see where I was falling. There was an island below me. Hopefully the sand there is soft and I don't want to land on the ocean mainly because I can't swim and because falling from this height would probably break my face...no break many of my bones.
The island was coming closer and closer. It was then where I realized that even if the sand was soft, something had to break at the height that I fell. Sh-! I thought. I fell on the sand, hitting my head on something hard. My vision went black. After a while, I gain conscience again and opened my eyes to yellow sand. There was a slight breeze but I still shivered. What...happened? I wondered. I remember falling but only briefly like if I have dreamed of falling. I lay there for a while but then I heard voices. "Oh my! Someone just fell from the sky!" "Are they dead?" There was one voice that was close to me. "Hey. Hey are you ok?" I couldn't moved but I let my gaze over to where the voice was. There were three people standing around me with one close to me. "Wh-where am I?" I asked.
