FIFTH CHAPTER
2010

"we were just friends who spoke like lovers. and that seemed to be enough for two teenagers who were scared to love one another."

//

Sahar swings her bag over her shoulder before opening the front door, calling to her brother to get out.

she, the older sister is taking Elio out to the children's library on a radiant Saturday. it's something they love to do every few weeks- lounging around, flicking through pages, finding amiable pictures and relishing their time together.

today they'll be returning a few books of Renoir and Van Gogh- Taehyung's recommendation. Elio is determined to get piles of animal books to take home. Sahar agrees with his choices because they have comparable interests.

the siblings tread out of their house, letting their parents know they're leaving. Sahar stops in her steps at what she sees and is suddenly wishing they had left earlier. Jin and Namjoon- her school teachers are going to Yoongi's house.

Sahar immediately stills when they make eye contact. the two men are wearing denim and the light in their eyes shows how much more comfortable they look, outside of their work place.

"hi sir, hi sir." Sahar greets twice, facepalming herself as soon as she realises how awkward she is- especially outside of school. she makes a mental note to learn how to greet and speak properly.

Namjoon laughs. Sahar is amazed. the sound that leaves his lips is so natural and easy going. it's a side to her teacher she's never witnessed before- after all, they are individuals with their own lives. "you don't need to be so formal, we're not in school." he informs her in a good-natured manner.

Sahar smiles in return. "this is-"

Jin, the other Mr Kim finishes her sentence. "i know- it's weird." he concurs.

the teachers say their bye's, trying not to make the interaction more peculiar and awkward before they disappear into Yoongi's house. Elio and Sahar start to make their way to the library in silence.

"who was that?" Elio asks, noticing Sahar's embarrassment.

"my teachers."

Elio is surprised and starts to laugh. "that's-"

"weird, i know. let's go."

Sahar lets Elio loose into the kids library as they walk inside. she looks around, spotting lively children- all ages, flicking through books and shoving them into the arms of their parents.

Sahar spots a familiar kid, one she's gotten too used to.

she makes sure Elio is in her sight, looking through books which he'll want to start reading on his own later. Sahar makes her way to silent Jungkook who's seated on a kids bench, back turned as he looks down at a scenic, wide page. she didn't expect him to be here.

Sahar places both her hands on his shoulders and shakes carefully, scaring him on purpose. his reaction is one she'll definitely remember. he jumps, book falling to the floor as he turns around- mouth open wide as he sighs.

"what the hell Sahar." he presses his hand to his chest. Jungkook closes his dismal eyes for a few seconds, trying not to smile at Sahar's teasing laughter.

Sahar grins, happy to see him and happy she scared him successfully. they both weren't expecting each other. "what are you doing here?" she requests, picking up the book Jungkook dropped.

he takes the book out of her hands, flipping it over to show Sahar the cover of a tiger with its mouth open. your favourite animal right?- he remembers, raising his brows. Sahar is amazed.

Jungkook shrugs, holding the book with careful hands. "i'm here to read kids books what did you think?" he smirks, speaking in an obvious tone.

"really?"

Jungkook smiles, shaking his head as his hand ruffles through his ebony locks. the sun shines through the window, reflecting onto his penetrating features. Sahar finds herself gaping at his splendour- from his fluttering eyelashes to his prominent jawline. this is her boyfriend?

"nah, i volunteer here on the weekends." Jungkook brushes off, looking up at Sahar's standing figure. once again, he just proved how lucky she is.

"you do?" Sahar can't believe how sheer and amazing Jungkook's heart is. she already knows a lot of people don't see this special side to him. "god." she mutters under her breath, unable to take the warmth and severe emotions as she presses her hand to her beating heart.

Jungkook furrows his brows, reaching out for her hand which he grasps. "what?" he asks curiously. Sahar's eyes wander over his every feature- the scar on his cheek, the softness of his skin, his kissable chin, slim nose, attractive eyes and a smile that will be the end of her.

Sahar closes her eyes. "don't."

"don't do what?"

Sahar opens her eyes. "touch my heart."

Jungkook smirks and Sahar knows what he's going to say. "i'm sure i already have." and he pulls her closer, hand curled around her waist.

Jungkook's fingers are a blessing. they rub against Sahar's lower back, fitting wholly onto her hip as he teases her with his touch. she notices how both of them lean loser, his grip tightens and their eyes slowly begin to focus on their eager lips. they're craving the same thing.

"Jungkook!" a kid shouts, oblivious to what is happening. "can you read me this?" he asks, waving his book in the air and interrupting the contemporary couple.

Sahar smiles at the boy before looking back at her boy. "go on."

imagining Jungkook reading books to kids on the weekends, strolling around the library with his oversized flannel is her new favourite thing.

Jungkook leans away with a frown. "but i want to stay with you."

come on- Sahar pushes his chest, wanting to run her hands down his hard body because of how appealing his outfit is today- very ripped, denim jeans with a belt, white shirt tucked inside showing off his skinny waist and a flannel over his upper half. seeing him outside of school, not in a uniform is something she needs more often. "i want to see how good you are with kids." she laughs, really thrilled.

"hm i see." Jungkook stands up, towering over her as he groans from being seated for too long. "i'll tell you now ... i'm great husband material."

Sahar laughs, flustered by the word husband. does he think they have a future together too? "we've just started dating, don't get your hopes up." there's giddiness in her eyes.

Jungkook winks. "i've planned it all Sahar."

"sh ... just go."

Jungkook is about to walk away but comes back, missing his girlfriend already. "can i see you later tonight?" he asks, hope in his brown bulbs.

the same boy yells. "Jungkook!"

Jungkook huffs. "geez, i'm coming." he replies but stays stood in the same spot, eyes centred on Sahar and her answer. "quick, can i?"

Sahar feels jumpy about spending time with Jungkook outside of school but at the same time, she's excited. "yes you can see me tonight. what do you want to do?" she inquires eagerly, wanting to spend seconds, minutes and hours with him. she's attached and she knows it.

"i'll pick you up."

//

Sahar sits downstairs, staring out of the window as she waits for Jeon Jungkook to pick her up from her house. it sounds so straightforward but it's overwhelming for her- he's an actual dream.

she startles when seeing him arrive, swinging his arms on either side of him as he  walks with slow steps. Sahar notices how he's changed since this morning- now dressed in a olive button up shirt, showing his eminent collarbones, a pair of somber jeans and a stiff jacket that emphasises his arms nicely.

Sahar smiles behind her hand as she watches Jungkook through the window- he's nervous. he walks back and forth in front of her house, taking off his jacket and holding it in his arms, adjusting the collar of his shirt and sorting out the rings on his fingers. he's even talking to himself in the cutest way.

Sahar smiles wider when she hears him talk to Hoseok on the phone. "your advice is to be myself and kiss her when i have the chance?" Jungkook repeats, not liking how tough it sounds.

Jungkook waves his hand, rolling his eyes as he walks with shaking legs. "oh right, of course! i forgot your important detail of kissing her under the fucking stars. i'm sorry for my language."

Jungkook still can't calm his nerves by talking to his best friend. "i should call Yoongi." he mutters, laughing at Hoseok's offended reaction. Sahar can imagine him saying- ouch!

"no you can't have his number." Jungkook tells Hoseok firmly before he says his farewell, a part of him not wanting to go. "okay bye bro."

Sahar rushes to her front door when Jungkook ends the call, walking onto the first step to her house. she hears his knocks, breathing deeply before opening the door with a smile.

"hi girlfriend." the boy smiles in return, taunting lips turning upwards as he stares at Sahar with the most veneration he's ever felt for another person.

Sahar is taken aback by him calling her his. she feels special and honoured to exist at the same time as Jungkook. she scoffs and bites her lip. "gosh, hi boyfriend." she retorts.

"call me husband material."Jungkook smirks. the tension between them is so different from this morning- it's more intense, ecstatic and substantial. "it's still light outside so i was thinking we could go on a walk and grab some dinner?" he suggests when Sahar joins him outside and closes the door.

"yeah i'm down." Sahar nods as they start to walk side by side. he's really thought things through, god bless.

they walk in stillness until Jungkook asks an important question. "can i hold your hand?" he asks, gazing at her with his innocent, bronze orbs.

Sahar finds it amusing- Jungkook's acting differently, more polite, formal and anxious. "you've never asked before." she points out with a smile.

Sahar fits her hand into Jungkook's, their fingers intertwining routinely. "just be yourself Kook." she reassures and stops herself from pressing a light kiss to his knuckles. she absolutely loves retaining his warm hand.

"i always have been with you."

the students wander for a while, coming across a park. "you know i really like you right?" Jungkook declares, his thoughts coming out in a breathless tone.

a few careless kids run away and leaves the swings free. Sahar sees her chance and runs towards them- jumping onto the swing with a woozy smile.

Jungkook shakes his head, already missing her hand in his. his bangs fall in front of his eyes as he watches the girl he's falling for swing her legs, waves of obscure hair blowing behind her and her smile reaches her jade eyes. "i love that you just ignored what i said and ran to the swings." he says sarcastically as he nears closer- he likes her and he wants her to know.

"i'm not good with feelings." Sahar blurts out as she stops swinging. "or love..." she trails off, staring at the ground as the swing stops moving.

Jungkook nods because he agrees. he may look like he knows what he's doing but he really doesn't. feelings, amour and relationships are something he needs to work on. Sahar mentioning the word love ignites a ball of excitement in his stomach because he believes in the possibility of them in love.

Sahar sighs, opening up to Jungkook for the first time. she trusts him. "i'm trying to make myself feel better by saying i can do love and relationships." she gets off the swing. "but what if i can't?"

Sahar watches her feet covered in converse. "and with you ... my emotions are everywhere." she avows, feeling as though she's got too much going on. "they've come back and all that time, you've liked me like I've liked you."

"thank god it's mutual." Sahar mumbles and Jungkook catches it. they both smile because it's a relief that their feelings are just as meaningful as the other. they both like each other and want to try, despite not believing in themselves and being fearful of spine-chilling love.

Sahar stands in front of Jungkook, reaching out for his hands as their palms press against each other. "i want us to be together because i really like you too." she says with sincerity. "i hope you know that." she forces herself to look at Jungkook and every time brown meets green, a wave of bliss runs through her.

their foreheads press against each other lightly as they stand close enough. fuck- Jungkook mumbles, closing his eyes as he squeezes their interlocked hands. Sahar's entire speech has left him dazed and glad to have her more. hearing his girlfriend say she definitely wants to be with him and is going to make this work makes his lips turn up naturally.

"what's wrong?" Sahar asks, waiting for him to say something.

Jungkook opens his eyes and he feels his heart racing against his chest. "i can't believe you're finally mine." he admits with honest joy.

Sahar wraps her arms around Jungkook's neck and smiles when he automatically wraps his around her waist. "i'm going to kiss you now because if you talk any more, i think i'll cry." she laughs, making the air lighter with amusement but at the same time, more nerve wracking. it's the perfect time to have their first kiss. she's buzzing with passion, energy and nervousness- just like him.

Jungkook continues to be dramatic as he stares at his girlfriend. "and you're the girl who won in a game of arm wrestling-" he speaks his thoughts, brows raising in disbelief. the two of them remember the unique, exciting start to them and here they are now.

"shut up." Sahar cuts him off with a kiss they've both been waiting for. it's more magical than they had imagined- it feels like a fucking dream.

Sahar's lips move against Jungkook's as they hold each other close in an isolated park- one they must have visited when they were younger.

Jungkook's arms pull Sahar closer by the hips, delicately soothing her with his fingers that circle patterns and squeezing with gentleness. Sahar's hands curl into Jungkook's black hair, stroking and tugging as they share an innocent, sweet and wonderful first kiss- one that confirms their belonging.
