ENDING CHAPTER
2019
"i've seen forever in brown eyes."
//
Sahar's eyes flash open.
the main lead's verdant, olive orbs look straight ahead. there's not enough time for her to notice the sight of where she is and what she's doing until she jumps in surprise at the sound of a voice, so familiar, so acute in tone.
"you ready?" Taehyung inquires.
Sahar finally takes in her surroundings. her best friends voice brings her back and she collects her senses. she can see that she's in a car, in the backseat with smartly dressed Taehyung. she can smell the nature from the open car windows. she can taste the saliva in her mouth, harshly gulping it away.
"ready for what?" Sahar fires a question back. she glances at calm and collected Taehyung who sits beside her. he's busy looking out of the window, ringed hands clasped in his lap- legs covered in black trousers and a long tie lying on his vast, suited chest.
Sahar takes a moment to look at the driver of the car. it's a stranger. she notices her attire too- she's dressed fancily and they're going someplace ... but where?
she should be back to her normal life now? is this it? this isn't a mission right?- Sahar worries.
"oh Sahar." Taehyung speaks gently. his tone of voice has always felt like home to her. her attention is solely focused on him as he continues to speak. "i know it's hard to get your mind round it but you've got my hand in yours. my support is here for you."
Taehyung takes her hand and she wraps her fingers around his.
Sahar stays silent. she's so baffled that she doesn't bother to ask where they are heading.
"TaeTae." Sahar coughs. Taehyung hums in response, waiting for her to expand. "talk to me please. i'm going to ask you some questions and i want you to answer truthfully."
Taehyung nods seriously. "okay, go on."
"have we ever been to Malta?"
"yes! we went on a sweet holiday after we graduated."
"did we go to high school together?"
"yeah obviously."
"were me and Jungkook together?"
"yes. you were in a serious relationship, in love too."
"do i have parents and a brother?"
"what? yeah obviously."
her family.
"are you my best friend?"
"no shit, yes you are."
"were Namjoon and Jin our teachers?"
"first name basis huh? yes."
"did me and Jimin used to hate each other?"
"yup, used to."
Sahar lets out a deep sigh and her body presses hard against the leather seat. she throws her head back- heart beating at a fast pace. from her questions and given answers, she can conclude that all the diverse lives, missions did happen in some way so her and everyone do have history.
it's back! my life's back! everything's back to normal!- Sahar is in shock. she's smiling uncontrollably and blissfully. she's beyond emotion.
"and lastly... where are we going now?"
Sahar urges. she watches the ocean view and beach as they drive past. "woah, this is grand." she scoffs in surprise. the ocean is azure, the sun is dazzling and the beach is empty. it's a view anyone would love to wake up to.
"it's a nice setting." Taehyung agrees. he leans forward, head hitting the side of Sahar's as they stare out of the small window together. his seat belt pulls him back as he pats his thighs- answering her question. "we're going to Jungkook's wedding."
"what?"
his wedding? he's getting married.
they both stay silent.
this really is Sahar's last chance to make Jungkook hers.
//
Sahar stands still when they arrive at the serene venue.
she watches the ocean view from where she stands. if she took a few more steps and crossed the road, her feet would land on the delicate sand. it's beauty is so touchable.
Taehyung interrupts her focus. "they've opened up the wedding." he tells her, noticing how freakish she's being today. "shall we head inside?"
"it's going to be okay." Taehyung and Sahar start to walk beside each other- away from the ocean and to the wedding of unexpectedness. "what was with all the questions?"
Taehyung takes Sahar's hand as they walk inside. they pass past people dressed smartly- suit jackets, trousers and pointed shoes. the theme is pink but Sahar is wearing white. the flowers bring more melancholy to the mood of the wedding of a man she saw herself one day, marrying.
"i experienced three different lives." Sahar sighs and narrates to Taehyung. what has she got to lose? "in every one i had to make Jungkook say he wished we never met. he didn't know me in any and sometimes you didn't either." Taehyung seems surprised but unruffled as he listens with ease.
"i did the mission and now i'm back to the life i originated from." Sahar looks around. is she really back? she's older now. "the voice said i could finally have him in this life. but what am i supposed to do?" he's getting married to someone, another girl- someone that isn't Sahar.
before Taehyung can even speak, a warm presence arrives.
Jimin pulls them both into a hug, cheeks against each other as warmth, closeness and affection fills the air. Sahar has missed the small boy so much- she hugs him securely.
she's startled too. her and Jimin are actually on good terms now? they're friends- she learns, her and Jimin are now close.
"Sahar. it's been so long, come here." Jimin smiles- one that lifts his cheeks and his eyes crease.
Sahar smiles back- forcing herself not to cry at how it feels to come back home. the people, the memories, the reality of her true life.
suited Jimin, dressed in navy joins her and Taehyung walking along. the three of them come across Namjoon and Jin who nod at them with an acknowledging smile. Sahar shivers at what she's experienced with the older men.
little does anyone know...
"i'm going to go greet Hoseok. i'll be back." Jimin leaves with a hurried pat on the back and a jog.
"so." Taehyung holds his hands together, stopping them from walking any further. "what did this whole life thing teach you Sahar?" he questions intellectually. Sahar thinks about how much Taehyung would suit being a lecturer or teacher- his sophisticated, serious yet charming nature is perfect for the role of something knowledgeable.
Sahar takes a moment to think. what did it teach her? "to fight for something and not give up." she never gave up on Jungkook and did what she could for them to be happy in her real life. she hurt him and made him say the words. yet, here she is- about to watch him get married to someone else. how is she supposed to fight when he's getting married?- Sahar thinks deeply.
Sahar has to give up now. she can't stop a wedding.
"it's my biggest fan!" a bustling figure tackles Sahar in thunderstruck, arms wrapping around her happily.
"Hoseok, oh my god-" Sahar grins, not taking a moment to hug him back. she buries her head in his neck and closes her eyes cheerfully.
"move Hoseok." a gruff voice calls out.
Yoongi hugs Sahar next, moving Hoseok aside as he ruffles her hair. Sahar can't begin to explain the affection she feels in her heart for the boys.
"hey you asshole." Yoongi scrunches his nose, moving away. "why do you smell like fish?"
//
Sahar's heart keeps on breaking.
as Sahar sits in the oblivious, watching audience, with friends and family of the bride and groom- she can't help but clench her hands into fists in her shaking lap. everyone seems happy because of course, it's a joyous occasion. she should be happy too.
vows are about to be spoken and Sahar wants to desperately hold Taehyung's hand for comfort, but his hand is taken by sweet Jimin's.
she smiles. that's okay.
"i promise to protect you from any harm and be by your side..."
Sahar looks upwards, tears drowning in her green eyes. please don't fall down my face- she begs herself. protection? promises? love? staying by each other's side? i want that.
"i will always love you..."
Sahar gulps harshly. her gaze stays on the groom. Jungkook looks magnificent (as he should on his special day). his suit is ironed to perfection, black and white with buttons done. pants, long and slim with leather shoes. his hair is styled away from his face, a few strands shying away in chocolate yet ebony curls- it feels nice to see his original hair colour. the scar on his cheek stands out, lips being licked in nervousness, pearly teeth showing every time he opens his mouth and obscure orbs swirling with bronze shine. rings on his bony fingers, ready to be placed by another, to tie the knot of marriage.
neat, gorgeous looking Jungkook surprises her by looking back at her. their eyes meet, her chest tightens and no one has any idea of the memories that flood back into their hearts. they're looking at each other.
the two share a sad smile.
Sahar forces herself to look away but she can still feel Jungkook's eyes on her. if she looks again, all she'll be imagining is her being in front of him- running her hands down his blazer covered chest, smiling, caressing his cheek, brushing her lips with his and promising him an eternity of love as soulmates. i do.
"do you Jungkook take her as your bride?" the name of the bride is told (i didn't want to bring a name into the story at this point).
"i Jungkook do take Sahar."
oh shit.
gasps are heard all around the crowd. oh shit is written across Jungkook's face as he realises his mistake. his face reddens with shame- he can't look at the poor woman he was about to marry.
"oh god." Sahar mumbles, hiding with a shocked expression- crouching down in her seat. did he just say her name? fuck! she can't sit still, hands clenching and unclenching as she feels agitated, apprehensive and stunned. she's a mess.
"Sahar. he said your name!" Taehyung whisper screams.
"he said it! oh my god!" Jimin whisper screams too.
"shush." Sahar hits Taehyung, glaring at her friends.
"bitch i knew you were meant to be."
//
the wedding is cancelled.
and Sahar didn't even have to do anything.
the female feels the awkward atmosphere of the cancelled occasion. people aren't even making an effort to leave, they're spending their time drinking and eating- gossiping away.
but Sahar doesn't want to drink.
her eyes rake through the crowds. she sees Jimin dragging Taehyung to the dance floor, Namjoon fixing his tie and asking Jin if it's okay, Hoseok and Yoongi clinking glasses-
and she spots lonely Jungkook on the beach- far in the distance. it's a beautiful scene, more beautiful than when he was stood at the altar with teary eyes. it reminds Sahar of Malta sunsets, club disasters, school kisses, roller-coaster thrills all at once. he's alone. he watches the water silently.
Sahar finally found an excuse to visit the close beach. her feet land on the sand as she makes her way over to the boys silent figure. "hey- mind if i join you?" she questions, standing beside him with her shoes on her feet.
Jungkook is surprised by Sahar's presence but doesn't show it. he nods, his expression blank.
"how are you feeling?" Sahar questions. she wonders if he's upset, distressed, confused, annoyed, angry- are any of those at her?
"relieved."
woah. "really?"
"yeah surprisingly." Jungkook stifles a cute laugh that makes Sahar's chest tighten. his nose scrunches, shoulder unintentionally bumping into her body. "i realised what i wanted." he declares out loud. it seems like an epiphany to the distressed but content man.
"and what's that?" Sahar can't believe she's talking to her Jungkook again. her Jungkook.
"to be with you." Jungkook looks at her for the first time now.
their eyes meet and Sahar is surprised by his blunt words. he wraps an arm around her and brings her closer- securely, tightly but most importantly, safely. "i'm so glad we met." she sighs, never intending to let go of Jungkook.
"this must have been so hard for you Sahar." Jungkook smirks, thinking about how hard it must've been to see the love of your life (almost) marry someone that isn't you.
"oh shut up-" Sahar laughs. i wish we never met you dumbass.
you won't believe the shit i had to do to get to be here with you.
