Chapter 7: An "Ice" Present
*Laurance's POV*
I watched from Garroth's doorway, as he fished something from his messy desk. It was odd to see his room like this, he usually kept it clean. He grabbed something, putting it behind his back, and walked over to me. Garroth kept his head down, as he stopped in front of me.
"Garroth..?" I honestly was unsure what to say. Throughout all the years I've known Garroth, I've never seen him act this way. It was odd, and confused me.
"Laurance..," Garroth started, biting his lip, "...do you remember that plate I broke yesterday..? And those...other things I've broken this week?"
I nodded, remembering when Garroth was picking up glass shards in the hallway between our rooms. Garroth put his arms out from behind him, something enclosed in them.
"It wasn't a plate, was it?" I asked him, as he nodded back.
"Hold out your hand," he sounded like he was on the verge of tears. I felt awful. What was causing him to be this emotional? Was it me?
Nonetheless, I held out my hand. Garroth closed his eyes, putting his hands over mine. He opened his hands, and something fell into my own. I couldn't see what it was, since his hands were still blocking the view, but I could feel it. It was somewhat heavy, with a circular shape.
What in the name of Irene is this?
"I can't see it with your hands in the way, Garroth," I chuckled a little, trying to lighten the mood.
"S-sorry," Garroth nervously laughed, moving his hands to his sides. I was able to see the object in my hands.
It was a snow globe.
*Garroth's POV*
I watched as Laurance studied the snow globe in his hands. I held my hands together nervously, as he inspected what was written on the bottom.
"What's...this..?" I could tell Laurance was confused. I shifted uncomfortably, moving a little bit away from him.
"It's...a present..," I sighed, forcing a smile. "For you..."
~Flashback~
I stood outside Laurance's door, my hands shaking nervously. The snow globe in my hand was close to falling out of my hands and breaking.
I reached up to knock, stopping my fist in front of the wood of his door. I froze.
Smash!
And there it went. The snow globe fell from my nervous hand.
"What did you break this time?!" I could hear his voice call from beyond the door. I tried to regain my composure, falling to the ground, and scrambling to pick up pieces that weren't glass- so I could cover it up easier.
"Nothing!" I yelled back to him, shoving the base and little objects into my pocket. I was getting faster at this, considering this was probably the sixth time I've done this, third time this week.
The door clicked open, just as soon as I shoved the final figure into my pocket. I started picking up glass shards, as Laurance made a dramatic sigh. I looked up at him, my heart beating fast.
"What did you break, Garroth?"
Time to think of another lie...
~Flashback Over~
"...What does this mean? On the bottom here?" Laurance lifted up the snow globe, showing me the bottom. A note was attatched to it. I bit my lip, trying to think of an excuse.
'To the person who lights up my world.
My best friend.
There is snow-one better I would want to spend the rest of my life with.
I- [The rest is scribbled over]

"I don't...understand your question..," I muttered. A part of me knew what he was talking about. Laurance rolled his eyes, moving closer to me.
"Garroth! I'm getting tired of these games!" He looked genuinely pissed off at me. I wanted to cry.
"Laurance...I'm so sorry..," I hid my face in my hands, not looking up. I heard movement come towards me, and I tensed up.
"Garroth...what were you going to tell me..?"
I wiped my eyes, looking up at Laurance. All of my senses were telling me, to just run as far away from here as possible.
"D-do...do y-you know...what t-that...is..?" I pointed to the scribbled out portion, receiving a nod from Laurance. I took a deep breath, heading over to my desk. I reached around, until I found it.
I pulled out a medium-sized box. Opening the lid, I looked down at all the DIY snow globes I made.
Why snow globes?
Because they are special to me.
Each one had the exact same note on the bottom. I had tried my best everyday, for the past two weeks, to try to think of the perfect thing to say.
But every time I tried, I would freeze.
I grabbed the most recently made one, peeling off the note. Gingerly walking towards Laurance, I hesitantly put it in his free hand.
Laurance set down the snow globe he had, reading over the note.
I think my heartbeat stopped.
*Laurance's POV*
I read through the note Garroth had given me, my hands shaking. It was the same note as before. However, what was previously scribbled out, was now clearly written in Garroth's neat handwriting.
'To the person who lights up my world.
My best friend.
There is snow-one better I would want to spend the rest of my life with.
I like you, a lot. But, I know you would never return those feelings.
I've had a crush on you, since Middle School.
I ---- ---, Laurance Zvahl.
