Chapter 23: Laurance's Parents
*Laurance's POV*
~The Next Day~
Cadenza leaves today! Thank Irene!
"Cadenza!" I called up the stairs, as I returned back into the kitchen- to finish working on breakfast.
I heard loud footsteps banging down the stairs, and assumed they were Cadenza's. I hummed to myself, as I finished separating breakfast onto three plates. The kitchen door opened, and my sister was standing in the doorway.
Her hair was neatly brushed, and she was wearing a simple dress, with minor amounts of jewelry. She skipped into the kitchen, leaning over my shoulder.
"Why are you so giddy today?" I asked her, chuckling slightly.
"Well, I know that you and Garroth went on a date last night~" Cadenza chirped, grabbing a plate.
"Oh? How'd you find out about it?"
"You just admitted it!" Cadenza called, as she exited the kitchen.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing my own plate, and following after her. I stopped at the stairs, looking up at them.
"Garroth! Breakfast is done!" I called up the stairs again.
I followed Cadenza into the Living Room, taking a seat across from her. She was picking at her food, and occasionally checking her phone.
"What time are Mom and Dad gonna be here?" I asked Cadenza. She looked up at me.
"About noon-ish."
I nodded, starting to eat my breakfast. Footsteps padded down the staircase, and Garroth emerged. He looked at me, his hair messy, and still in his pajamas.
"Breakfast is in the kitchen, Love!" I yelled to him.
Garroth nodded, heading off into the kitchen. Eventually, he came back out, his plate in hand. He walked over to us, taking a seat next to me. Cadenza smirked at us, before returning to her meal. She finished first, going to wash her dishes.
"So, Love..," I turned to Garroth, after I finished my food.
"Yes?" He replied, setting down his fork to look at me.
"Are you excited to tell my parents that we're dating?"
Garroth's face seemed to drain of colour, and he bit his lip. I put a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring look.
"W-we're going t-to tell...your p-parents..?" Garroth's voice was shaking.
I nodded at Garroth, taking his hand in mine. I rubbed the back of his palm with my thumb.
"Only if you are ready to, Love."
Garroth sighed, a tiny bit of colour returning to his face.
"Y-yeah...we can t-tell your parents..."
"Thank you, Love." I kissed his cheek, and I felt his grip on my hand tighten. "At around noon, my parents will be here. We can tell them together, and then after, Cadenza is out of our hair. So, we can have the house to ourselves."
I winked at Garroth, and his face flushed red. I chuckled at him, giving him another kiss on the cheek.
"Laurance! You're going to kill Garroth! Look at how red he is!" Cadenza scolded me, as she strolled back into the Living Room.
I rolled my eyes at her once more, letting go of Garroth's hand. I pulled out my phone, checking the time.
9:12
Just three more hours until Cadenza is gone!

*Garroth's POV*
I'm not panicking, you're panicking!
I am definitely panicking!
Control, yourself!
It's a little past noon! His parents will be here any minute, now!
Calm down! It's just his parents. We've met them before.
Yeah, but he and I weren't dating then!
Just think, calming thoughts.
Oh my Irene, they just pulled into the driveway!
I darted up the stairs, running into my room. I looked in the mirror, I had propped on my desk, fixing my hair.
Once I heard the doorbell going off, my heart starting beating incredibly faster. I took deep breathes, trying to calm myself down. That's when, my room door opened.
Laurance was in the doorway, a big smile on his face. He leaned on the doorway, looking me up and down.
"Wow, you look amazing, Love."
"I-I'm n-nervous..," I admitted.
Laurance kept on his smile, as he walked over to me. He wrapped his arm around my waist, allowing me to put my head on his shoulder. He used his free hand, to brush back my hair.
"Don't worry about a thing, Love. My parents already love you. Whenever I'm on the phone with them, they always ask me how you're doing. So, don't worry," Laurance leaned down, and kissed my forehead. He moved his hand to my hand, holding it tightly. "Are you ready, Love?"
I nodded, getting off his shoulder. Laurance kept his hand in mine, as we walked out of my room. We made our way down the stairs, and I spotted Cadenza, and Laurance's parents, sitting on the couch. I let go of Laurance's hand, folding my arms over my chest.
"Hey Mom, hey Dad!" Laurance chirped, as he went over to the couch. I trailed behind him, trying to steady my breathing.
"Oh, Laurance! It's so great to see you!" Laurance's dad, Hayden, said, as Laurance hugged him.
I nervously made my way to the couch, sitting next to Cadenza. She glanced at me, but then turned back to her parents. Laurance gave his Mom a hug, and then sat down beside me.
"Garroth, look at you!" Laurance's Mom said, as she eyed me. "You look so different now, honey."
"T-thank y-you..," I looked over to Laurance, who gave me a small smile.
The family had some small talk, and I just awkwardly sat there. They weren't my family...well, maybe they could be if...
"Mom, Dad... Garroth and I have something to tell you!" Laurance interrupted my thoughts. My head shot up, and I nervously bit my lip. Laurance's parents looked in between each other.
"Oh? What is it?" Hayden asked, a smile on his face.
Laurance looked over to me, and I gave him a small nod. I held my hands together tightly, not looking directly at his parents.
"Garroth is...my boyfriend," Laurance smiled proudly.
Suddenly, I heard laughing. My heart began racing again. I looked up, to see Laurance's parents laughing. I turned to Laurance, and he seemed to have the same expression as me.
"What's so funny?" Cadenza asked skeptically, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing's funny, honey," Laurance's Mom reassured. "I guess, we were expecting you two to say that you were... I dunno. Engaged!"
She started laughing again, and Laurance's Dad chuckled.
"How long have you two been together?" He asked.
"A-a...bit longer than a week," Laurance answered.
"Only that long?" Hayden rose an eyebrow. "We for sure thought that you guys have been together for years! That's why we were laughing. You guys got my hopes up. I thought we were going to be attending a wedding!" Hayden joked, laughing to himself.
My heart beats returned to a normal speed, and I looked at Laurance. He smiled at me, putting a hand on my lap.
"Well, congratulations anyways," his mother said, smiling at both of us.
"Thanks, Mom, Dad."
Laurance turned to me, leaning down to my ear. "I told you everything will be okay."
~~~
We said our goodbyes, as Laurance's parents and Cadenza left out the door. Once the door shut, Laurance came to my side.
He wrapped his arms around my back, leaning his forehead on mine. "We finally get to be alone, again!"
I started to giggle, but was cut short by Laurance smashing his lips onto mine. I quickly melted into the kiss, throwing my arms around the back of his neck.
"Hey, I forgot my purse. I- Seriously, guys?!" Laurance and I quickly jumped apart, to see Cadenza in the front doorway. She was smirking, and holding a hand over her nose. "Laurance, you couldn't wait until after we pulled out of the driveway?"
Laurance nervously rubbed the back of his neck, looking down. I felt my face getting extremely hot, out of embarrassment. Cadenza snickered, grabbing her purse off the coffee table.
"Seeya later, dorks!" She called, as she left again. Laurance gave me a small smile, looking back up.
"Wanna watch some TV?"
"S-sure..."
