22. Rain

Xeria's P.O.V

After that, we joined everyone once again, and the mood was settled back to normal. But once again, I'm cornered by Quentin's parents in the kitchen for the interrogation.

"What was that, dear?" Aunt Tatiana asks me with a serious look and I realize that I'm not getting a free pass with lies this time around.

"You may already know Khaos's personal history," I answer after being intimidated by these two veterans.

For sure, they know; they have always been by my parents' side through thick and thin; there's no way that they don't know anything about Khaos's past.

"Yes, we do," they answer in unison.

"It turns out that Bertil's mother is also Khaos's mother," I continue meekly, and the two of them give a huge sigh in response.

"What's Khaos's take on this?" Uncle David asks.

"He doesn't want Bertil or anyone to know about the truth, and he doesn't have any issues with Bertil," I answer, looking up at them.

"Ok, that wouldn't happen; we will talk to your parents too," Aunt Tatiana nods her head.

"Was it Mr. Sebastian who proposed my marriage to Khaos?" I ask them with curiosity.

"No, he didn't; it was Aiden who made the decision." Uncle David answers, and now I can clear up this misunderstanding with Khaos.

After my conversation with Uncle and Aunt, I return back to Khaos, and, surprising enough, he's talking to Bertil, and the rest, I do hope he is talking and not interrogating him.

"Willie, he's a nice guy," I take a seat beside her.

"Yes, he is. It wasn't really difficult with him; he himself approached me instead of beating about the bush; he directly made his intentions clear, and after that, it wasn't really difficult." Willie gushes, looking at Bertil, and he looks back at her, giving a sweet smile.

"What about his siblings? Have you met them?" I ask her, because Bertil didn't mention a lot about them.

"Oh yes, I have; they're also nice. I will show you, their pictures; they're identical twins," Willie fishes out her phone.

"See," she says, handing over the phone to me.

On the screen is a beautiful blonde with olive eyes, and the man next to her looks the same; they're really identical, but wait, isn't this the same blonde who was walking to Quentin at Jake's wedding? Zooming into the picture, I confirm my suspicions.

"Is Quentin friends with them too?" I ask her.

"Oh no, brother, is even meeting Bertil for the first time" Taking the phone from my hand, Willie complicates my suspicions.

So, Quentin wasn't asking Bertil about his family because of Khaos, but because, oh, I don't know her name.

"What are their names, Willie?" I ask her, looking at Quentin. Now he's hiding things from me.

"Gabriell and Zachary," she answers, and Quentin comes and sits next to me after looking at my questioning gaze, and Willie walks over to Bertil.

"What's your deal? How do you know Gabriell?" I inquire, and astonishment washes over his face.

"Nothing, just some professional meetings," he answers, sipping wine from his glass and turning his gaze to the other side.

"Oh, and it motivated you to meet her at Jake's wedding; something is fishy here, Quentin." I don't give in, and he sighs.

"It's nothing serious, Xeria, and there's nothing now, so there's no point in talking about her," he sighs, putting his glass down on the table.

"Ok, if you say so, but if anything happens, you have to tell me." Grinning, I nudge his shoulder, and he chuckles.

"But what happened to Khaos?" he asks, knitting his brows.

"Oh, nothing; you know how he is." I dodge the real answers because it's not my place to tell, and Khaos doesn't want other people to know.

"Beryl, I have a meeting, so I have to leave. If you want, you can stay here," Khaos informs, joining my side.

"No, I will leave with you." Standing up, I smile.

After saying our goodbyes to everyone, we leave Quentin's place.

"Are you ok?" I ask Khaos, who is being unusually silent.

"I will be fine," he answers, concentrating on the road, and silence falls between us.

"It wasn't Mr. Sebastian, Uncle David said, that your father the one who made this decision." I inform him, and he nods.

"Stop the car," I tell him as we pass by an empty park.

"Why now?" he asks, confused.

"Yes," I affirm, and he parks the car on the sideway.

"Let's go in there," I grin, unbuckling the seatbelt and getting out of the car without waiting for his response. Sighing, he follows behind me, inside the park.

"What now, Beryl?" he asks as we stop in front of a fountain.

"You know, you can tell me when it hurts; stop keeping things inside you." I look at the gray clouds and then into his similar gray eyes.

"It doesn't hurt now when I think rationally, because all of these things don't matter to me now; the only thing that does is you and our present and future, and nothing else," he replies, engulfing me in his arms.

After a few minutes, rain drops begin to pitter on us.

"Let's get going; it's raining." he takes my hand, but I don't budge.

"We never had our first dance; we left early, remember," I smile, holding his hand, as rain finally pelts down on us.

"Now?" he asks, completely surprised.

"Yes, can you think of a better time than this?" I laugh, and he wraps his arm around my waist.

"Ok," he smiles, and we begin to dance in the rain like idiots. But I have never seen him so happy, looking into his eyes, not being bothered by anything; it's just the two of us in this moment, and we're living every second of it.

"Beryl, thank you for coming into my life," he smiles, picking me up. Keeping my hands on his shoulders, I giggle.

His nose was now red because of the rain and cold. He securely holds me, and I wrap my arms around his neck, kissing his forehead and his eyes. I look at him.

"Let's get going now, or else we will catch a cold," and the other moment I sneeze, eliciting a laugh from him; after that, he carries me back to the car, and then we go back to our home.
