He released my wrist from his grip and went to get me water. I knelt down quickly to grab what had hit my foot. While searching for whatever it was, I heard muffled voices beyond the door as it must be the police trying to get the wrong Jacob. I got a grasp of what the thing was as it felt oddly shaped and hard. My guess it was a rock. I quickly stood up and brought it to the little light that was shining through as luckily it wasn't a rock. It was a lemon. I smiled and reached into my pocket to find something to cut it to get the juice out so I could just squeeze it. Yet all I had was a nickel, out of everything I had carried. Now all I needed was the water.

"So what's your final answer?" He walked up with a cup of water in hand as I hid the lemon behind my back. However it was no use as there was a thud sound which caught us both off guard. He then looked at me again and raised a brow, "What's behind your back?", "Nothing.." I should have said a lemon as one of his hands reached and grabbed my throat and started to strangle me. The lemon fell from my hands as I felt like I couldn't breathe. "Seriously..a lemon.." He then let go and twirled the arrow he held in his hands, and then pointed its tip towards me.

"What is with people liking the idea of being a goody-two shoe..it's never fun..as you just like a royal and have perfect. So why don't you say forget about the lemon idea and join my company. You could be just like us, being full on evil and don't care what people say or think..hear the opposite of what you want to hear..and even get paid by the nights." More and more by time light shined through, as it showed me what he looked like. He had ragged brown blackish hair with brown-green eyes.

He looked very identical to Jacob. No wonder he named his son after himself. It was sort of creepy in a way, yet Jacob had no beard like his father though. The door sprung open as that was when the police came and handcuffed him. "Oh right..my one hour is up already..I'll see you next time.." he smirked as both of the Jacobsens' were arrested. Watching them take the two of them away, I was startled by the hand placed on my shoulder. "Gibson..what are you doing here..it's not safe.." It was Officer Kaiden, an old friend of my father who he grew up with when he entered freshman year of high school.

I looked at him and laughed nervously as I felt a bit of pain in my throat. I tried to speak but nothing came out. "Please just follow Officer Coraline out to her car. I'll have her bring you back to your mom's parents' home." The last place I wanted to be. I just wanted to try and help defend Jacob but that wasn't gonna happen if I can't get a single word out. While he was getting placed in handcuffs he looked at me with a frown. "I'll be okay Maya. I will be out before you know it, and after that I will make a promise to myself to visit you everyday.." Officer Kaiden looked at him.

"Good luck with that bud. You're dealing with the wrong family to ask for that plus you gonna have to wait eight months.." both of our eyes widened, "Woah eight months?","Yes as that is until we get a court date for you Jacob, and for your father. Since you are going to juvenile..and he is going to prison."

One Week Later..

Since what had happened a week ago, I had hardly spoken a single word as more and more air just came out. I also had been carrying a pillow around in each room I was in. I was just anxiously waiting to know when the court date was. Though besides waiting and moping around, it was the first time I was experiencing my mother and her parents being supportive. Which I wasn't expecting from any of them. "Oh my Angel, stop moping around..things will be okay I promise you.." I locked eyes with my grandma as she took a seat next to me.

"You know just like your mom will always be here for you, I will also be too as I just want comfort you know.." I nodded with a sigh, I even tried to smile when she called me her Angel. Though it made me frown again as it just reminds me of Jacob and his talk about the Angel and him being the Travellers' Devil. "You know what. Why don't I go make some ice cream sundaes just like the old times, and you can steal my cherry.."

I had ignored her as I stared out the window seeing people wandering around seeing their hearts glow, as my mom came to me and tapped my shoulder. "Rumor has it that this is a tea that cures sore throats..maybe it will help." I grabbed it from her and smiled slightly as she thought that's why I wasn't talking. Which wasn't the case at all as I felt mute. "Still no words forming.." I nodded as she frowned. She opened my hand and gave me my pain reliever meds for my back as I had been wearing the brace for awhile. As I drank some of the tea and took the meds, she sat by me. It tasted bitter and smelled odd, it had to be herbal tea, my least favorite. She looked out the window as we both saw Grandpa Bertie walking up to the door just to slam it closed after opening it. He started going on and on about how he got some letter from the court thinking he got in trouble, that was until he mentioned it had my name on it.

"Can someone explain to me why my angel is being summoned by the court?!" Mom got up from where she was at as my eyes widened. The court had finally figured out what date on when Jacob can state his case and I can state mine. I then stood up and placed the pillow down and walked to my grandpa and handed off tea to my mom.

"If your name isn't on it then it's not for you. As you're just getting the wrong idea that she is in trouble..", "Then what is it for then.." My mom sighed, "You'll know much later on as for now it's for something else and not jury duty." I went to him as he handed it to me. "Well she has to learn how to at some point in her life. Haven't you or Marco taught her that already..how to present yourself to the court.", "Dad. Listen for the last time..me and Marco are divorced.." I ignored their little side conversation as I went to open the envelope to read the letter.

Dear Mariah Jamie Gibson,

The court has come to a conclusion to speak about the truth of what had happened on May twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth as the date we picked to hear your hearing is a rare to have on that day.  It will be on December twenty-fourth. When it comes to the day of  the hearing, your mother is requested to also be present as she is your legal guardian and you may also bring one witness. On that day you and Jacob will talk about what has happened on those days. So be honest, be truthful, and be very clear.

Best regards,

Judge Megan Kelsey

I smiled. Finally I felt happy and not sad like I just was, but when I tried to speak, air still came out. I felt my throat as my mother handed me the tea, "Drink up.." I began to drink it more even though I hated it so much. Looking in the distance at the calendar hanging on the wall, I went and searched for December twenty-fourth and circled the date in red. It was only May. Which had only meant it happened to be only seven months and twelve days away.

"Oh right. I should have also mentioned this earlier but your daughter has two visitors in the driveway.." I raised a brow, "Visitors?" My mom questioned, "Yeah one was a blonde and the other had a piece of her hair dyed." I knew who he was describing. It was Rosemary and Colton. The two people who I didn't want to talk to, but since I was on mothers' parents territory, I already knew they wanted me to go talk to them. I grabbed my light-weight coat and handed my mother the letter and headed out the door.

Walking up to them, they looked at me in the eyes as Rosemary had her arms crossed against her chest. "I heard what happened and what my father did. Which doesn't really surprise me knowing him but then again I am sorry for his actions. As for  hearing about Jay. I know he will survive, it's not his first time being compared to our dad." I just stared in silence as I felt a presence behind me, I turned and saw my mother walking behind me.

"Look I am sure Maya at some point will forgive you, but at the moment she is not speaking. So once her voice returns from the sore throat, she will tell you her thoughts.." I frowned as she was right. But looking at Colton, he looked speechless and didn't even stare at me, he starred in the opposite direction, not even staring at Rosemary. Rosemary walked up to me and handed me a journal. It was violet with marks of baby pink splattered paint.

"I hope you get better soon Maya. But meanwhile here is a gift my mom gave me and Jay when we were younger. I had thought of you once I heard about not speaking as Jay was like that as well. So when he was younger and muted he wrote things down. It usually ends up being a story about his life in a way like a memoir. So if you do write your memoir, you could start it like a romance novel mixed with supernatural creatures who don't exactly exist in the world.."

I laughed a little as my mom looked at her weird, "Supernatural creatures?" Colton questioned, "Its' a term in the writer's world of imagination as there are no such things in actual real life.." she laughs nervously, "Okay.." That's strange. Colton did mention the devil thing towards Jacob seeing his photo when we went to the Ever After Hearts. Doesn't he know that' s a supernatural creature? "Anywho here take this.." she handed me a black bound journal with red slash marks that also looked like scratch marks from a beast. "This was the journal Jay wrote his sort of memoir in. It's all about our family, including our dad and his business."

Colton raised a brow, "Wait your dad owns a business..", "Yes he does, it's called Sisters Services as his previous one fell flat and was bankrupt after his arrest. But back to Jay's journal.  It started off on July fourth, four years ago, right on my birthday. It was also when he found his file in the mail and saw your image for the first time. It goes all the way up until your first encounter with him.

Though the journal was his, it is still his diary or journal whatever you call it.. so just be careful on what you read as sometimes you can't go back after you read it." I went up to her and hugged her as a sign of thanks as I felt a bit more relieved to know that The Devilry has gone out of business. They had walked away as my mother walked me back inside the house. I stood back and walked to the bench and sat outside for a bit as she smiled from afar. I opened my journal before his as I wrote down the first thing that I recalled and it was being at Roslyn bridal shower/her trying on dresses.

February 6th,

I'd rather be somewhere else then where I was at the moment, though I was told that I have patience, my annoyance was on a level that had been bubbling beneath the surface as I watched Roslyn parade around in one after another wedding dresses. I was the only one nobody knew in the bridal party as everyone else knew each other.

When I had written down my thoughts, I had seemed to grow liking towards Rosemary now since she was right. It seemed to end up like a story about how my life turned out the way it did. So it was like a memoir. Though I was debating whether or not to add in the truth about the supernatural creatures who don't exactly exist but somehow do in the world.

I eventually decided to as that is when  I stopped writing for a second and glanced over at his journal, staring at me debating whether or not to look at it. I placed my journal to the side of me and reached and held his journal in my hands. Even though he was the one and Only Travellers' Devil, I had felt like this was the opportunity to know him better than anyone else who did. I opened it, and there was a label saying who it belonged to and to those who could read it.

P.S.

If you're reading this Maya, I want you to know that you will always be an Angel in my eyes as you seem to rescue me no matter what situation I land myself into. As I will always be your only travellers' devil, ready to save you at any moment  in time.

Sincerely,

Jacob
