Rapunzel and Belle were known to be the best of friends. Ever since the first day at the Princess Pokémon Trainer's Academy, Rapunzel has been sticking up for her friend ever since. Belle had always been the lonely one, raising her Elekid as best she could, but it didn't seem to want to listen to her all the time. Elekid protected his Trainer, of course, but at the Academy it was against the rules to use another's Pokémon on a Trainer. Belle had to learn that the hard way when Elekid disobeyed her and electrocuted a kid for throwing rocks at her. Elekid may not show it, but he really cared about his Trainer despite not wanting to listen to her every order.
Rapunzel was a different story. Her Poliwag and her got along quite well. Too well, in fact. At the Academy, your first Pokémon is the one that chooses you and not the other way around. You're only allowed to have three Pokémon at the Academy before you Graduate, and then catch more along your Journey. Poliwag was a Water-Type Tadpole Pokémon. He had no arms, was round as a ball, and had a black swirl on his chest. His tail that looked more like a fin was what kept him balanced on his only two legs. Plus, he had the cute factor.
Today was the day of Graduation, where the students at the Academy receive the rest of their six Pokéballs, a Pokédex, and a Region Map Guide Book to set them on their Journey. This was the day every Trainer and Partner Pokémon couldn't wait to start.
It started that very morning when Rapunzel and Belle made some new friends before they set out on their Journey. . .

"Leave him alone!"
Rapunzel and Belle had just walked through the entrance gates laughing at a story about Poliwag getting stuck in the toilet—thinking he could take a bath in it—when they heard the proclaimed shout, and looked over towards the old cherry tree where two girls and three boys stood facing off against each other, a Pokémon lying on the ground as the dark-haired girl ran up to it and knelt beside it.
"What did he ever do to you!?" the girl shouted, her dark hair in a tight black bun as she clenched her fists, the other girl running up beside her in a purple and green outfit, her bright red hair a stark contrast with what she was wearing.
One of the boys smirked over at the girl that was on her knees next to the Pokémon that was struggling to sit up. "Easy. He's weak. You can't have strong Pokémon if they don't Evolve. You of all people should know that, Mulan."
The black-haired girl—Mulan—jumped to her feet and shouted, "Tyrogue doesn't need to Evolve to become stronger! There are plenty of Pokémon in the world that decide not to Evolve!"
The boy and his friends laughed at her rant. "Yeah, right. Strong Pokémon that don't Evolve. That's a knee-slapper."
Mulan growled and held up her clenched fist. "You wanna battle just for me to prove it!?" Mulan grabbed a Pokéball off from her belt, and clicked the center of it so that it grew from the size of a golf ball to the size of a baseball. "I dare you to challenge me," Mulan smirked then, and the boy actually took a step back.
Then he shook his head. "I don't have to waste my time on the likes of you. Come on, guys. The Ceremony'll start in a few hours." And then the boy and his friends walked away as Mulan relaxed her shoulders and returned the now shrunken Pokéball to her belt, before kneeling beside her injured Tyrogue.
Rapunzel and Belle glanced at each other, before running over to the other two girls and stopping short of seeing the Tyrogue all scratched up, and gasped, causing Mulan and the other girl to snap their heads up. "Is he gonna be okay?" Belle asked hesitantly, and Mulan sighed but nodded.
"Tyrogue may be small, but he's tough." Mulan smiled then and patted her Pokémon's head as she helped him to stand. "Isn't that right, boy?"
"Ty! Tyrogue!" the Pokémon answered strongly, and crossed his arms while closing his eyes and seeming to meditate on the spot. Mulan simply smiled at her Partner Pokémon.
Rapunzel growled lowly then, and Poliwag looked up at her worriedly. "It's the last day and they decide to pick a fight, which is still against the rules, and-UGH! I can't take it! Let me at 'em!" Rapunzel began to march off after the three boys, and Poliwag, being the worried Partner that he is, jumped in front of her legs, causing his Trainer to trip and fall flat on the ground. "Poliwag!" Rapunzel whined while sitting up and rubbing her nose.
"Poli! Poli!" Poliwag cried, a wad of tears now leaking heavily from his eyes, and Rapunzel sighed before picking up her Partner and just holding him in her arms. Belle laughed at the two odd Partners as her Elekid crossed his yellow and black striped arms, and allowed some of his electricity to charge between his two antennae that resided on top of his head intimidatingly. Belle sighed at her macho Partner, and ran a hand through her shoulder-length brown hair that had a dark blue bow tying it back.
"I'm sorry about my friend here. She can be a little. . .dramatic, at times," Belle apologized on Rapunzel's behalf as the said friend frowned, and balanced Poliwag on her arms evenly.
"I can apologize for myself, Belle, thank you very much. But I will not apologize, for those boys have what's coming to them," Rapunzel smirked then, and Belle frowned at her nervously.
"What do you mean?" Belle asked her slowly.
"Just look down," Rapunzel gave her a pointed look as her friend looked down at the ground to see her Partner had now disappeared.
Belle looked up and saw him running off towards the direction the boys had gone, and quickly ran after him while shouting, "Elekid! Come back here! We don't want a repeat of what happened last time!"
Rapunzel chuckled, and turned to face the two girls who were looking after her friend strangely. "Yeah, he doesn't listen to her very often," she explained, and the red-haired girl sighed.
"I know what that's like. My Abra doesn't really listen to me, either," the redhead shrugged, and looked up into the cherry tree where Mulan and Rapunzel followed her gaze to see the brown Pokémon seeming asleep in the branches. "It's kinda sad that he sleeps eighteen hours a day, but hey," the redhead shrugged once again, "what can I do about it, right? Oh! I completely forgot! My name's Ariel, and this is my friend, Mulan," the redhead introduced, and Rapunzel smiled at both of them.
"I'm Rapunzel, and the girl chasing after her Elekid is Belle," Rapunzel laughed, before bending down and gently placing her Poliwag back on the ground as he rubbed himself up against her ankle lovingly.
The bell to the Academy suddenly rang, signaling the Graduation Ceremony was about to begin. Ariel smiled then and lifted a red and white Pokéball from her belt, returning the Abra from up in the tree with a bright red light as it went back inside the Pokéball, before the peppy redhead strapped it back to her side. "It's Graduation time! Let's go, Mulan!" Ariel cheered, and began dragging her friend away as her Tyrogue followed them without question.
Rapunzel sighed and looked down at her Poliwag. "Well, we better go find Belle and Elekid."
"Poli," Poliwag nodded and hopped after his Trainer as they entered the Academy gymnasium.

"FINALLY! On our Journey we go!" Rapunzel shouted, and directed a finger towards the horizon as her best friend Belle giggled beside her, Elekid once again walking alongside her with his arms crossed. She had managed to catch him and return him to his Pokéball before he could do some serious damage to those boys, much to Rapunzel's chagrin.
"You do realize we still have to go home and pack some things to take with us before we get started?" Belle replied smartly with a small smirk, and Rapunzel faltered in her steps.
"Ugh, you're a killjoy. I hope you know that," Rapunzel told her friend with her hands on her hips and a raised blonde eyebrow.
Belle giggled behind her hand. "To you I am. But it's actually called 'being prepared'. I know you're eager to go off on your own and all, but we do need supplies."
Rapunzel groaned and tossed her floor-length blonde hair over her shoulder. "Fine. But tomorrow morning, I get to catch the first Pokémon we see!"
