If I Can Be A Hero.
The poltergeist didn't leave. Not that I expected he would. I was about to go back to the mansion. Maybe I could reason with him.
I knocked on the door, before opening it up slightly and peeking inside. The poltergeist was standing in the center of the room, facing away from me. He seemed to have a green flame in his hand.
His head turned in my direction, and his emerald eyes seemed to analyze me for a few seconds before he said, "օ-օɦ, ɦ-ɦɛʏ ȶɦ-ȶɦɛʀɛ... ʏ-ʏօʊ ƈǟʍɛ ɮ-ɮǟƈӄ?"
"Yeah, what'd you expect?" I asked.
He seemed to ponder it for a second, "ɨ... ɦօռɛֆȶʟʏ ɖօռ'ȶ ӄռօա.. ʊʍ... ɨ'ʍ ֆօʀʀʏ ǟɮօʊȶ աɦǟȶ ɦǟքքɛռɛɖ ʏɛֆȶɛʀɖǟʏ. ɨ ֆɦօʊʟɖռ'ȶ ɦǟʋɛ քʀɛȶɛռɖɛɖ ȶօ ɮɛ ǟռɢʀʏ ȶօ ֆƈǟʀɛ ʏօʊ օʄʄ ʟɨӄɛ ȶɦ-ȶɦǟȶ.."
I started at him blankly, the fire in his hand long since vanished. The stare seemed to worry him, though he didn't say it.
"Apology accepted, I guess.. I'm Luna Sapphire, I never did catch your name."
The poltergeist seemed suprised, but studdered out "ɨ-ɨ'ʍ ɨʐʊӄʊ ʍ-ʍɨɖօʀɨʏǟ"
I chuckled at his nervousness. Maybe he wouldn't be too bad. "Well, Midoryia-san, I have a proposal for you. You can stay here, under two conditions."
Midoryia nodded slowly, signaling for me to continue. "One, you can't go around causing trouble all the time. Two, I get to use you as an aspect of my quirk if I find it necessary."
"օӄ, ɨ ƈǟռ ɖօ- ɦօʟɖ օռ, աɦǟȶ?! ʏօʊ աǟռȶ ʍɛ ȶօ ɮɛ ǟռ ǟֆքɛƈȶ օʄ ʏօʊʀ զʊɨʀӄ?"
Of course he'd be confused.
I sighed softly, "my quirk allows me to interact with ghosts. I'm also able to detect ghosts, make connections with them, and usually control them. Any ghost I have a connection to can be considered part of my quirk. Unfortunately, there haven't been any poltergeists powerful enough to use as part of my quirk, but not so powerful that I can't control them. While your to high of a rank for me to control, you don't seem like you'd be to much of a problem."
"... օӄ, ɮʊȶ աɦʏ ɖօ ʏօʊ ռɛɛɖ ǟ քօʟȶɛʀɢɛɨֆȶ?"
"Other ghosts don't have powers, and I need to fight in order to be a hero." I responded, hoping that would be enough to satisfy the poltergeist.
"ɨ'ʟʟ ɖօ ɨȶ!!" Midoryia exclaimed, smiling brightly.
~👻👻~
Training my new abilities was harder than I expected. Apparently I'm a higher ranked poltergeist, so I'm stronger than other poltergeists.
I can control the weather, manipulate water, levitate rocks from the ground, and generate green flames from my spirit. If I try hard enough, I can also interact with the real world.
The fire is the easiest to control, which might have something to do with my father's quirk, breathing fire.
This poltergeist thing is better than I thought it would be.. sure, I can't see mom, and people think I'm crazy, but I'm getting a chance to save people!
Sapphire is pretty nice, as well.
She also told me what the string on my wrist is. Apparently, her quirk can make connections to ghosts, which appear in the form of a string. If she tugs on it, I'll be teleported to her instantly. Either of us can cut it, although I don't want to cut it.
"Alright, Midoryia-kun. We have to go to get you registered as part of my quirk. The entrance exam is coming up in a few weeks, so if we don't do it now, we won't have enough time." Sapphire said, slipping her shoes on. We were in her house, mainly because we needed to make sure I was actually able to control whether I was visible or not.
The answer to that was yes.
I drifted over to her, following her out the door. I rambled on about heros to myself, which Sapphire seemed to ignore.
Eventually, we got there, and I shut myself up.
Sapphire answered a bunch of questions, and then I had to show what I was able to do so that they could record everything.
After that, I was officially a part of her quirk.
Seeing as she can't control me, the new registration said:
"Sapphire is able to summon a sentient being at will, which can turn invisible and permeable, control the weather, water, levitate rocks, and create green flames. He does not necessarily follow all orders given."
I don't see why that last part was necessary, since sentient means having a mind of your own, but I guess it would be possible for something to be sentient and only ever do what it's told.
~💙💙~
"ֆ-ֆǟքքɦɨʀɛ? ɨ-ɨ'ʍ ӄɨռɖǟ ռ-ռɛʀʋօʊֆ..." Midoryia mumbled, drifting behind me as I walked to the UA entrance exam. I nudged him gently, chuckling. "Oh, c'mon, you were excited about a week ago~!"
"ʏɛǟɦ, ա-աɛʟʟ ռօա աɛ'ʀɛ ǟƈȶʊǟʟʟʏ ɦɛʀɛ! աɦ-աɦǟȶ ɨʄ ɨ ʍɛֆֆ ʊք ǟռɖ ֆօʍɛօռɛ ɛʟֆɛ ɢɛȶֆ ɦʊʀȶ? օ-օʀ ɨ ɛ-ɛռɖ ʊք ʀ-ʀʊɨռɨռɢ ʏօʊʀ ƈɦǟռƈɛֆ օʄ ɢɛȶȶɨռɢ ɨռ? օʀ.... օʀ..."
"The more you stress yourself out, the more likely it is that you'll mess up. Just calm down." I sweatdropped.
"ʀɨɢɦȶ, ֆօʀʀʏ"
A/N
This chapter is alot shorter than the last one, but I don't want to start the entrance exam until next chapter.
Sapphire will not be shipped with izu, btw. This won't have any deku ships, actually.
