The Ledbury
Streets of Metropolis
8:30a.m.
Damian and Jon are on their way to The Ledbury.
[JON'S POV]
We got ready, and now we're on our way to The Ledbury, riding on Damian's bike. We've arrived at The Ledbury 5 minutes earlier because of Damian speeding the engine. I guess I can say
"He has the need, for speed."
I floated in the air as he parks his bike in one of the empty parking space. He shuts the engine, took off his helmet, hung it on the bike handle and got off.
Damian: Come. (Walking towards The Ledbury)
I got on my feets and followed him from behind.
Me: Do you ever, drive slowly?
Damian: Sometimes. Rarely. Not really. Why?
Me: Aren't you afraid of getting caught in an accident for driving in that speed? Like maybe hitting a car? Or sliding on a slippery road? Or-
Damian: I've been driving in that speed since I was 9 Jon, and I haven't had any accidents since then. I think I'm used to it. (Caring tone) But, if you're scared, then fine, I'll slow it down a notch whenever you're riding with me. (Opening The Ledbury doors)
Me: I'm not scared for Me. If I fall of a bike, I'll maybe endup with a tiny scratch and nothing broken in me. (Sigh) I'm worried about your, safety..
He held open the door to The Ledbury and I followed him in. Just right infront of the doors is the cashier counter with a lady standing next to it.
Damian: (speaking to the waitress) Table for two please.
Waitress: Sure thing. (Taking two menus in her hands) Right this way please. (Walking further in the restaurant)
Damian: (turned back to face Jon) You don't have to, ok?. I'll be careful. Promise..
Jon: (Sigh) alright... I trust you.
Damian: Come, let's take our seats.
We began walking past the cashier counter and into the dining hall. And wow, does the place look fancy or what?.... It's really classy...
There's diamond chandeliers hanging on the ceiling, black theme curtains, white circular tables with cushion back chairs, orange lights, fancy people and so on. The restaurant was also in a cool degree. (Stunned) I think this is the first time, I've ever, entered in a restaurant like, this....
Waitress: Table for two, right here. (Gesturing to the table)
The table we got was placed right infront of a window.
The table had two of each. Wine glasses, napkins, utensils, and toppings.
Me: (muttered) Huh, fancy...
Damian: Thanks. (Turned to Jon) After you..
I walked over to the seat which was infront of the window. I sat down and Damian sat in the opposite seat, infront of me. The waitress then stood next to table.
Waitress: Welcome to The Ledbury, I'm Helen, and I'll be your waitress today. Here's your menu (handing one to Damian) and yours. (handing the other one to Jon).. Would you like to hear the specials?
Damian: No, thank you. We'll just pick something from the menu.
Waitress: Alright then. I'll be back in minute or two to take your orders. (Walking away)
Me: Man I'm so under-dressed for this.
Damian: (chuckling) we both are. Usually Father, Grayson and I, and sometimes, Selina, will come here, wearing something a little more, formal. But it's ok, there's always next time.
Me: Next time? You sure you want to bring me back here again? (Flipping through the menu) I mean, look at the prices Dami.... Just for one plate of meatball pasta, is 24 dollars and 60 cents.... I mean, I feel bad that someone's else, other than my parents, is paying for me in that amount.
Damian: Money's not an issue for me J. Trust me, I can afford it.
Me: Yes I know you can afford it, but that doesn't mean you have to spend your money on unnecessary prices... Spend them wisely Damian. Once in a while, it's ok, but,, not everytime.
Damian: (closed the menu) You're right... Ok then, shall we leave?
What?
Me: What now??!
Damian: I mean, you did say I should spend my money wisely right? Ok then. Why not spend I spend some dollars at a food shack I know that only sells instant noodles. Special ingredient is, nothing, with a side of, paper cup.
......
Me: Well, since we're already here, might, as well (softer voice) finish it.
Damian quickly raised an eyebrow at me and crooked a smirk. At the same time, folded his arms.
Damian: (low chuckle) Just admit that you want to eat in this place more than I do. You're a terrible liar Jonny boy..
Dang it!
Me: Alright fine, yes, I do want to try the food here. But I meant whatever I've said earlier.
Damian: Tell you what. How about we order first, then we talk. Order anything you want, drinks food, dessert, anything. Feel free.. (Opening his menu)
Me: (sigh) alright then. (Flipping through the food section of the menu)
The food selection here is pretty hard to choose... There's literally alot of good choices. For example, there's smoked beef with a side of bbq sauce, there's Chinese fried rice, triple meaty cheesy burger, waffles with optional toppings, salmon rolls with seaweed toppings, and many more!
Damian: I'm ready to order. You?
Me: Food, yes. Drink, No....
Damian: (laughing) Too many good choices right... It's ok, why don't you ask the waitress on what she recommends.
Me: Good idea! Alright then, ready. (Looking behind Damian) Oh, and just in time, here she comes.
Waitress: Are you boys ready to order?
Damian: Yes.
Waitress: Ok then. (Holding up a tablet) What would you like to have?
Damian: I would like the french toast, peanut butter, medium brown.
Waitress: (tapping the tablet) Got it.
Damian: As for the drink, one Sunburst Orange Juice Mocktail. That'll be all for me thank you. (Closing the menu)
Waitress: (tapping the tablet) and Got it. And for you young man? (Glancing towards Jon)
I was craving for waffles back at my apartment, so that's what I'm gonna have now.
Me: Can I have the waffles, honey toppings.
Waitress: Alrighty, best in the house. (Tapping the tablet) and how about your drink?
Me: Any recommendations? I couldn't decide.. (laughing)
Waitress: Sure thing. Ok, are you into sweet, sour, bitter, or plain? Or a combination of sweet and plain? Or sweet and sour?
Me: How about sweet and sour..?
Waitress: Then I would recommend the Mango Lemonade Mocktail. It's both sweet and sour, and not to mention, healthy. All our fruit juice here are made with actual fruit, not artificial. Is that ok with you?
Me: That's sound really good, yes! I would like that please.
Waitress: Very well then. (tapping the tablet) would you like brown or white sugar?
Me: Oh, brown please.
Alright. (Tapping the tablet), ok for you, (Glancing at Damian) french toast, peanut butter, medium brown, with a Orange Juice Mocktail. Check... (Glancing towards Jon) and for you, waffles with honey toppings, and Mango Lemonade Mocktail. Check. Coming up.. (Walking away)
Damian: Thank you. (Looking at Jon) Alright, here's the thing. Before I met you, I only spend big money on one person, and that is myself, only myself. I don't treat anyone but myself, not even father. (Sigh) I guess you can call me cold but I truly was that time, or maybe I still am.
Anyways, eversince you came into my life, you've showed me many new ways on how I could be a better person, for myself and to others. Nowadays, I've learned to talk to Grayson without criticising him as much as before. I've learned to join in stupid activities with the Titans and not complain. And so on. You've showed me many things I never knew I could see. So I wanted to repay your kindness. And since money isn't your thing, I'd figured I do something else like hangout with you, spend things for you, you know, be friendly, to you. Like give my company to you when you need it. Like last night. So in conclusion, money's not a problem for me when it comes to you. It's not like I'm spending thousands every time I'm with you. Sometimes a couple of hundreds, sometimes a couple of twenty, and sometimes, a couple of dollars.
