If Only
When the stampede of nurses and doctors finally made it to his tent, he got up slowly before approaching them. The least winded of the group, a doctor by the name of Harold LaCroissant, was the first to speak. "Dr. *wheeze* Harvey! We *wheeze* have a new *wheeze* patient in the *wheeze* CCU!" This caught his attention. "What information do we have on the patient Dr. LaCroissant?" he asked, going into his "Doctor Mode", as the people who've seen him work call it, before speed walking around the tent together his medical tools in his bag. Dr. LaCroissant took a deep breath before answering, "It's a child, male, looks to be around 3 to 4 years old...ah nurse Lacel, could you pass me that clipboard? Thank you. Let's see here. Blood type AB. His-", he was cut off by the impatient voice of Dr. Harvey. "I don't need to know those things right now, they can wait." He picked up a surgical hammer, pointing it at Dr. LaCroissant before continuing. "What I need to know is the condition the kid is in, has he been stabilized enough for an operation, and does he have a name so we can contact his parents!", he practically yelled towards the end of the sentence. He turned, the hammer is still in his hand, and stared angrily at the other doctor. "Y-Yes sir. Um. There are lacerations all over his body, the worst ones are on his back. Bruising on his left wrist, right thigh, face, chest, and upper and lower back. His right lung has collapsed from a puncture wound, most likely happened when he had been inhaled by an unknown object when he was in the flood waters. The current pulled out the object in question, according to the boy, before he could see what it was. Possible concussion and several broken bones. We have stabilized him for the most part, his breathing is abnormal and his blood pressure is low, we suspect internal bleeding."
By the time Dr. LaCroissant had finished, Dr. Harvey had gathered his tools and had started walking briskly to the Critical Care Unit. Dr. Harvey could see the school gym that served as their CCU only a few meters ahead of them. "Okay. We'll have to operate immediately if there are no others ahead of him. Also, do we have a name for the child?", he questioned. "Ah yes, I believe nurse Carol got that from him." Dr. LaCroissant flipped through the documents on the clipboard before continuing, "his name is Jonathan Comte. Anyway Dr. Harvey, if we could... Dr. Harvey?"
