Chapter 6: Flirty Flight
"Hello mum, I am at the airport. Phone will be on flight mode now so don't start panicking." Sahana walked inside the airport in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt along with a jacket and she had let her hair down. She talked to her mother as she moved to the counter dragging her bag behind her.
"Yes Saral, I am coming. It's just a matter of time before I do a naagin dance in your wedding." Rishi chuckled as he hung up the phone and moved towards food court before joining the queue at the counter.
Soon he was talking to the lady behind the counter. As soon as he reached her, he gasped loudly and kept his hand at his heart.
"Oh God!!" Rishi dramatically placed his hand on his heart.
"What's wrong, sir?" The young lady behind the counter asked her concerned.
"Your name... It suits you. Ms. Pretty!!"
"Well, thank you sir. But it's Petty." A small blush came up on her cheek.
"Who cares about that.... I know you are very pretty." He gave her his best flirtatious smile.
This voice caught the attention of Sahana.
It's the same brat.
She turned to check if she was correct but the guy behind the counter interrupted her and returned her passport to her. After keeping it in her purse she turned but found the guy gone.
Sighing she moved to her flight and sat on the middle seat reading a novel.
Rishi boarded the flight soon after.
"God, please let there be a beautiful girl beside me. Please... Please... Please." He mumbled as he went to his seat.
Wow, there is a girl. Good going, Rishi! But she is reading a book. I wish she will talk to me. Well, Rishi Malhotra works his magic on any girl.
He cleared his throat to grab the girl's attention and she looked up at him. Honey brown eyes. Eyes which can make any guy weak in his knees.
Rishi was mesmerized by her eyes when he noticed her scowling at him.
Why is she scowling at me? Do I know her? Oh... Shit.... She is... She is that girl from the cafe. God, I had asked for a girl not a human bomb.
He noticed that she was still looking at him with an eyebrow raised.
Ok, why am I here again? Oh yes... My seat.
"That's... That's my seat. The... The window seat."
Ok, why am I stuttering?
She shifted as he sat beside her.
"So, are you going to India too?"
What, seriously Rishi this was your ice breaker. What has happened to me?
"Will this flight go anywhere else too?" Sahana shot back.
"Umm... Yeah.... My bad. By the way I am..."
"Not interested."
"Excuse me...?"
"You heard me right. I am not interested in knowing anything about you. According to me, you are just a jerk, an egoistic, flirt and also a brat." Sahana looked at him with a pointed gaze.
"That's your misconception." Rishi said trying to defend himself.
"I don't want to make it right. Now please don't disturb."
She resumed reading her novel as Rishi sighed and leaned back in his chair with eyes closed.
Soon the flight took off. Rishi turned to face Sahana.
"Excuse me. I am sorry." He said.
"For what?"
"For that day.... In the cafe."
"Oh, you mean, for shouting at me for no reason and embarrassing me in front of everyone. Sorry not accepted." Sahana said, still angry on that incident.
"But..." Rishi tried to speak.
"I am busy and I don't want to talk about it." She said turning to the book again.
This was the first time any girl had just shut off Rishi so it was quite surprising for him.
"All right, complete this novel. Then you will have to talk to me. The whole journey is still left." He said in a bitter tone.
"I guess I would prefer reading this book again more than talking to you."
"Let's see!"
Suddenly there was a slight turbulence in the flight and Rishi held Sahana's hand who glared at him.
"I am sorry. I get scared by this." He said and Sahana knew that he was not lying.
Rishi didn't knew about any ice breakers anymore as Sahana wasn't a girl to be lured by compliments. She was different... Different and beautiful.
His mom's word rang in his head, "Let time come when the girl will come who won't entertain your flirty approaches. She won't care about you but you will run behind her to get her attention."
Is Sahana that girl? What are you thinking Rishi. Shut up stupid!
He shook his head to clear his mind. Knowing he wouldn't be able to converse anymore so he dozed off and soon Sahana slept too.
"Aah.."
"Ouch..."
Their sleep broke when their heads accidentally bumped against each other and they sat up.
"That was nobody's fault though I am sorry."
"I am sorry too."
This was the most boring journey for Rishi as he wasn't able to talk or flirt with anybody.
Soon they reached Delhi. Sahana stood to get her bag from overhead compartment and made her way out of the plane.
"Hey beautiful, I hope you will miss me. Bye." Rishi said to Sahana.
"And I hope you miss how I shut you off." Sahana replied and got off the plane.
"Hurtful." Rishi placed his hand on his heart again and Sahana rolled her eyes.
Finally away from this jerk and in my country, my homeland and my sister's wedding.
Sahana dragged her bag behind her and had her jacket in her hand with her shades on.
After all the formalities, she left the airport and stopped a cab.
She leaned to tell the address to the driver when somebody jumped in.
"Quickly to Vasant Vihar." That someone ordered the driver.
"Excuse me... You... Get down. I have booked this cab." Sahana said irritated on seeing Rishi sitting in the cab.
"But now I am sitting in it. Nobody can ask me to get down before I am in Vasant Vihar." Rishi replied cheekily.
"All right. Keep sitting. I will get another cab." Sahana replied, her short temper kicking in.
She looked around but didn't find any cab.
Why this has to happen all time?
"Did you find any cab? If I would have got one why would I have come to sit with you?" Rishi said looking amused.
"Oh, don't you remember it was you who was clinging to me."
The cab driver who was listening to them bickering finally spoke, "Madam, you also have to go to Vasant Vihar and sir too, so why don't you come with us?"
There was no other option left so Sahana grudgingly sat next to Rishi. She was looking outside the window.
"Please play any song." Rishi asked the driver and he turned on the radio. Zingaat from Dhadak started playing.
"Please lower the volume a little bit." Sahana asked the driver. She never liked noise. That's why she always preferred novels than parties.
"Nope, I like this song on loud volume." Rishi countered and Sahana pulled out her earphones without saying anything to Rishi.
He was dissappointed as he wanted her to say something. He kind of liked when she glared at him.
"You guys are boyfriend and girlfriend but you fight like husband and wife." The driver said amused.
"We are not in a relationship." Sahana said in her anger tone.
"And I am better single than being with a girlfriend like her." Rishi said and looked at her.
"Yup, a guy like you doesn't deserves a girl like me."
The driver let out a chuckle and Sahana looked at him.
"Why don't you concentrate on the road?"
"Sorry madam, but where should I drop you?"
"Le Meridian."
"Le Meridian."
"What.. you too?"
"What.. you too?"
"Stop copying me!"
"Stop copying me!"
Both Rishi and Sahana said all this at the same time. Soon they decided it was better to be quiet again.
In the same hotel with him... No....!!!!!
Sahana was on the verge of crying. More she wanted not to see his face, more he was clinging to her.
Rishi punched the car window thus hurting his own hand.
Soon the cab stopped at the hotel. Sahana took her bag and jacket. After paying the driver she went inside the hotel. It was booked by both Saral's and Sanaya's family for the marriage.
Sahana saw her mom and hugged her.
"Saha... Finally you are here. You have got so thin. Didn't you eat anything?" Sarika asked hugging her.
"Mum, it was only two days. You are behaving as if it was two years that you haven't seen me." Sahana rolled her eyes.
Well, moms are just like this. Nothing can be done.
"Excuse me..." Anger crossed on Sahana's face hearing to Rishi calling her.
Ok control. You are with your mom. You can't hit him.
She turned to him.
"Yes?" She said very politely and Rishi smiled inwardly at her pretending to be nice.
"You gave 100 RS. extra to the cab driver. He has returned it." Rishi said handing her the 100 RS. note.
"But this was his tip, why did he return it?" Sahana looked confused and Rishi laughed.
"There is no tip system in India, got it madam?" His eyes fell on Sarika who was standing near them listening to them.
"Won't you introduce me to your elder sister?" Rishi said looking at Sahana who looked confused.
"Which sister?" She asked and he pointed to Sarika.
"Oh... No dear. I am not her sister. I am her mother." Sarika said laughing.
Sahana rolled her eyes.
And the flirt Rishi is back.
"What's your name dear?" Sarika asked Rishi.
Even I don't know his name! Sahana thought to herself.
"Rishi... When did you arrive?" Saral said entering the hall suddenly.
"Rishi... More like Devil." Sahana muttered to herself.
"Did you say anything?" Rishi turned to Sahana and Saral saw her.
"Sahana.. how are you? Did you meet Sanaya? She is very excited to see you..." Saral told her.
"Sahana." Rishi loved the way the name rolled out of his mouth.
"So you guys have met I see..." Saral said and Sahana nodded. Sarika was called for some work.
"Yeah, we were in the same flight and cab too." Rishi told him.
"So, did Rishi flirt with you?" Saral asked her and Rishi stifled a laugh and Sahana turned a little red. She felt Rishi's eyes on her and for a moment she felt conscious.
"I think... I should meet Sanaya." She literally ran off from there as Rishi grinned.
"Bro, there is no use of flirting with her. She is very short tempered." Saral told Rishi.
"Ask me about it. She didn't let me speak a word in the whole journey." Rishi said sighing.
He picked up his bag and followed Rishi to his suite.
In Sanaya's room, Sahana and Sanaya hugged each other.
"How are you Saha...? Did you meet Saral?" Sanaya asked Sahana who nodded.
"Yeah, and his friend too." She said with her face scrunched up.
"It seems you met Rishi too." Sanaya said laughing.
"How did you know?"
"It's written on your face. You look so frustrated. Rishi is his best friend."
"Such a bad choice." Sahana said in a whisper.
