For any filler information that is not provided, just know that I mostly follow the original storyline of the show, but things are sped up a little.
~Flashback 2 years ago~
I was dreaming...
I was walking through the forest looking for something, but I can't remember what exactly. Everything around me was grey.
I see a shadow following me from behind, but when I try to look at it it disappears. I think to myself 'I hope it's a jumpscare. I love those!'
I turn around to come face to face with someone. "Aahh!" I jumped and screamed. Then I started laughing. He looked confused and asked in a slightly echo-y voice, "What? Is there something wrong with my face?"
I looked up at him to see his face looked like a dead fly's face. I fell down on the ground laughing really hard.
Then he started melting and turning into various bugs. I immediately stopped laughing and tried to stand up only to find that I couldn't. It was like some invisible force was holding me down.
The bugs all crawled on top of me. I screamed and put my hands up to cover my ears. I shut my eyes and closed my mouth tight so that they couldn't get inside of my face.
I felt them crawling all over me and I shivered at the touch of every single one of their feet. Then I hear him laugh and suddenly all the bugs were gone and he was standing in front of me holding his sides as he laughs at my fear.
He stretches out his hand to help me up. I take it and stand up, looking him over. He had slightly tanned skin, bright yellow pants, a black tux with a yellow collar, a white undershirt with yellow cuffs and red cuff pins, a small black bowtie, a bright yellow cape with a brick pattern on it that went down to his knees, black dress shoes, a tall top hat that floated just above his head, an eyepatch that covered his right eye, golden blond hair with little red highlights, and a yellow eye with the pupil slitted like a cat's. He also had a cane in his hand.
Over all, he looked kind of handsome. "Why thank you Nerd. It is my favorite outfit for this body." I'm not sure how, but it was like he read my mind. "Yes I did. And I think you're fun. Laughing at jumpscares? You're almost as fun as me."
I put on a look of confusion when suddenly an image of a burning city popped into my mind. Then this man walked out of the flames smiling maniacally. I smiled at this thought and gave a little "Ha."
"Oh, really destructive as well I see." Darn it! I forgot he could read my mind. "What's your name anyway?" I asked him. "You can call me Bill." 'That's a really general name,' I thought to myself.
"Well I happen to like the name Bill." Mind reader, right. I thought of him acting like a seal, him hoping around and balancing a ball on his nose and acting stupid.
"He looked at me with a face of disgust and said, "Why would you think that!?" I knew it would work! "To get you to stop reading my mind. Now you never know if you're going to see or hear something disturbing when you read my mind." I smile, knowing I'm right.
"Clever girl. No wonder you're a Nerd. I also hear your good at singing, care to give a demonstration?" I think about it for a second. "Alright. But you have to give me something in return, something that I will choose."
I see him smirk and he says "Deal!" He sticks out his hand for me to shake and it is engulfed in a blue flame. I am startled for a second then look at him. He is still smiling so it must not hurt. I stick my hand in the flame and shake his hand, sealing the deal.
I think for a second for a song to sing. I thought of a song and started singing it.
I got rythum,
I got music,
I got my man,
Who could ask for anything more?
...
~End Flashback~
"Yay! I see you still remember me." "Bill?" I look at him astonished. "The one and only! I heard you were back in town and decided to invade your dream." He smirks at me and I smile back at him.
He puts out his hand to help me up, and I get a feeling of DejaVu. He lifts me up easily and heals my scraped knees.
"Am I correct in assuming we're in the dreamscape?" He looks surprised for a second then smiled and said "Yes of course. You've been researching haven't you?"
"I read some theories here and there." I decided to test one out. I thought about floating up off the ground, and I started to float. 'Hmm, I guess some of them were true.'
I did a few backflips in the air, while watching Bills astonished face. He quickly regained his composure and smirked at me. "Quick learner aren't we?" He said. I smirked back and told him I read a theory saying you could imagine anything in the dreamscape.
I look at my watch to see that it was almost time to wake up. "Aww man! Hey Bill, I have to wake up soon so I guess this is goodbye for now. See you around Bill!" He looks as if he's about to say something, but I woke up before he could say it.
I look over at our clock and see the time reads 8:30 am. I groan and get up to wake up my brother and sister. Mabel's up in a snap, but Dipper's like me, he wants to sleep longer.
I go into the bathroom and get a cup of water. Then walk back to Dipper's bed and poor it on his head until he gets up.
He punches me in the arm for pouring water on him, but not hard enough for it to hurt, much. I finish getting dressed and ready for the day, and go downstairs to see Mabel in the kitchen, trying to make pancakes.
I help her finish making them and three of us sit down at the table to eat them. At some point, Grunkle Stan walks in and tells us to hurry up so we can help out with the Mystery Shack.
When we finish, we clear the table and put all the dishes in the sink. We get out into the gift shop area to see Stan waiting for us. "Ok kids, the shack is opening soon. Somebody go nail up these signs in the woods."
Mabel shouts out "Not it!" and looks over at us. "Congratulations Dipper, you're hanging up the signs." He hands Dipper the stack of signs.
"Grunkle Stan, whenever I go into those woods, I feel like I'm being watched." "Ugg, this again! Listen, it's just local legend to help guys like me to sell merch, to guys like that." Grunkle Stan said pointing to somebody laughing at a Stan bobble head.
"Hey Dip, I'll go with you." He smiles a thank you at me and we leave the shack. (Don't you dare start shipping me and my bro-bro!)
Tiny Time Skip (TTS)
I was helping Dipper hang up all the signs, when I heard a metal clang. I rushed over to my bro to see him messing with something in a secret compartment in a tree. Suddenly the ground opened up behind him.
I watched as he pulled out a maroon colored book, the journal! I can't believe he found the journal! I saw Mabel sneaking up behind the fallen down tree behind Dipper. I can't let them know that I know what I know, I gotta act like I don't know anything. I sneak over to her and cover her mouth so she didn't ruin surprising Dipper.
We smile at each other and sneak up to him. We see him stand and close the book, saying "No one you can trust..." We jump out of our hiding place and shout out "HELLO!"
He almost jumped out of his skin. "Whatcha' reading? Some nerd thing?" Mabel asked him. "Uh, uh, it's nothing!"
Mabel mimicked him, "Uh, uh, it's nothing! Are you really not gonna show us?" "Come on Dipper, I watched you take the book from the ground." I told him, urging him to talk."Uh... let's go somewhere private."
TTS
We meet in the living room of the Mystery Shack. "It's amazing! Grunkle Stan said I was being paranoid, but according to this book, Gravity Falls had a secret dark side." I widened my eyes to make it seem like I was amazed. "Woah! That's amazing!" Mabel said.
Dipper continued, "And get this, after a certain point, the pages just stop, like the guy who was writing it mysteriously disappeared." I think to myself, 'Dipper, you don't know how right you are.'
We heard the doorbell ring. "Who's that?" Dipper and I say at the same time. "Well, guess it's time to spill the beans. Boop!" She knocked over an empty can of beans. I laughed a little at her gesture.
"This girl's got a date!" She exclaimed proudly. "Let me get this strait. In the half hour we were gone, you already found a boyfriend?" Dipper was stunned. "What can I say? I guess in just irresistible!" The doorbell rings more.
"Oh, coming!" Mabel yells as she runs to answer the door. Unlike my sister, I never went through a boy-crazy phase. I just don't think of guys like that. Dipper walked over to the chair to sit down and read more of the book, while I go back to a game on my phone.
I see Grunkle Stan walk in dressed in his suit and fez. Noticing Dipper, he said, "What cha reading there slick?"
I watched as Dipper hid the journal behind his back and grabbed a nearby magazine that he pretended he was reading. "Oh I was just catching up on... 'Gold Chains for Old Men Magazine?'" I quietly snickered to myself.
"That's a good issue." Stan replied. "Hey family! Say hello to my new boyfriend!" Mabel cried out introducing a dark hooded figure. "Sup." He said.
Dipper: "Hey!" Stan: "How's it hanging." Me: "Hello." Mabel: "We met at the cemetery. He's really deep. Oh little mussel there, that's a surprise."
Dipper seemed sceptical. "So what's your name?" Mabel's new boyfriend seemed unprepared for the question. "Uh, normal... man..." "He means Norman." Mabel interjected. "Are you bleeding norman?" Dipper questioned. "It's jam." Norman replied.
"Huh, I love jam! Look at this!" Mabel was trying way to hard. "Hey Mabel, before you two go, can I talk to Norman for a sec?" "Sure! But don't you go boyfriend stealing." "Mabel, you know that I still think that when it comes to dating, all guys are big poop heads."
I grab Norman's arm and hauled him outside, and around the corner of the shack so no one can see us. "Alright 'Norman', so tell me... what do you see in my sister? Why do you want to be her boyfriend?" I said loud enough that if anyone was listening they could hear what I was saying.
Then before he could answer, I said threateningly under my breath, "Take off the hood... I know your hiding your true face."
He did as was told and what I saw before me was a bunch of gnomes. Then I quietly hissed, "Answer the question!" "Oh, um, I guess she's really pretty, and I want to make her our queen. I mean my queen!"
I nodded and wispered, "Put the hood back on, and don't speak a word of our conversation. Just don't rush things, and remember, my sister is into vampires. If you hurt her in any way, you'll regret it."
Once he put his hood back on, I took him back to the front of the shack and called for Mabel. "Mabel! You going on this date or not?"
I heard her yell "Coming!" And in a moment she was there. "So you want to hold hands or whatever?" Norman said semi-casually.
"Oh! Oh my goodness. Don't wait up!" As soon as I walked back into the livingroom, I could tell Dipper didn't trust Norman. He decided to look in the journal for explainations up in our attic room, while I planned to tell Stan about the journal.
I overheard Dipper reading to himself through the venting. "Known for their pale skin and bad attitudes, these creatures are often mistaken for, teenagers! Beware gravity falls nafairious... zombie!!"
I was almost to Stan's bedroom, and could hear him talking to himself about a... krombie? I shrugged it off, but when I heard someone running down the stairs, I quickly dove into the chair in the living room and wipped out my phone, pretending I was playing a game on it.
"Woah. Where ya going bro-bro?" I hope he didn't see me just sit down. He was breathing hard, and seemed really freaked out. "Mabel's... boyfriend... zombie... gotta... help..."
"Are you sure? I mean, what if that book is making you paranoid? Besides, I checked him. I can personally guarantee that he is not a zombie. Although he was acting a little odd. Maybe he's something else?"
I didn't want to let him know that I know that Norman is actually gnomes, but I also wanted to help Mabel.
"Maybe. But what else could he be?" Crap! I didn't think he would ask that.
"Maybe he's a shape shifter? Or maybe he's a bunch of little men trying to be human? Or maybe he is a vampire! I don't know, he could be anything. Maybe he's just a really akward, teenage boy? More akward than you I mean."
I smile at him as he gets embarrassed and angry at my statement. "I-I'm not akward! I just have a stuttering issue..." "Around everyone but family? I doubt that."
It felt nice knowing that even while keeping all these secrets, I could still feel relaxed and goof around with my little brother.
TTS
Dipper went out and recorded Mabel and Norman on their date to see if he was some strange creature. I offered to go with, but he said one person was stealthier than two.
He also made me promise not to tell anyone about the jounal. He said that the journal said that there was no one you could trust. So I guess telling Stan was out of the question.
I was about to go tell Stan anyway, when Dipper came back. "So what do you have? What is he?" I was truly curious to know what he had found out.
"Nothing so far, he just seems... normal. Although I'm going to go over the vids one more time to make sure." I jumped out of my seat. "I'll help you out. Four eyes are better than two!"
That was something I actually used to say a lot when I was younger. But I stopped saying it not too long after I stopped wearing my glasses. I prefer contacts now a days because people used to make fun of how my glasses look, and the saying doesn't make much sense without the glasses.
Dipper laughed a little at my old saying. I laughed too saying, "Those were the times. Things were so much simpler then." Dipper looked at me with a quizzical expression. "What do you mean?"
'Crap! I blew my cover!' "I, uh, just ment that, we didn't have to deal with wierd monsters and keep secrets back then. It was less complicated." Man I hope he doesn't push further. Luckily for me, he didn't.
We went threw all the vids, but we didn't see anything that would prove Norman was not a 'normal man'.
That is, until we got to this one shot. Norman had his arm around Mabel's shoulders, as they were looking at the view of the mountains. He seemed to just be doing normal boyfriend stuff when his hand fell off!
"Well that's proof enough for me for us to go save Mabel." I say. We both run out the door. Dipper tries to tell Grunkle Stan, but he didn't notice Dipper due to the dumbness of the audience as he tried to explain 'the rock that looks like a face' rock.
I see Wendy pull up to the shack in the golf cart and run as fast as I can towards her. "Wendy! I need to borrow the cart to save Mabel from some kind of monster!"
She just smiles and hands me the keys. I get in and drive over to Dipper. "Let's go!" Soos also gave us a shovel and a baseball bat. One for the monster, and the other in case we see a piñata.
We heard Mabel scream and arrived just in time to see her tied to the ground by a bunch of gnomes. "Mabel!" We shouted at the same time.
"Tammie! Dipper! It turns out Norman was actually a bunch of gnomes, and they're total jerks!" Dipper looked in the book to see if they had any weaknesses, but there was none written down.
So with no plan in mind, I watched as Dipper walked up to the lead gnome. "Hey, hey! Let go of our sister!"
"Oh hey there! Um, you know, this is just a really big misunderstanding. You see, your sister isn't in any danger. She's just marrying all 1,000 of us and becoming our queen for all eternity. Isn't that right sweety?"
"You guys are all buttfaces!" She yelled right before one of the nearby gnomes covered her mouth with his hands.
"Give her back right now, or else." Dipper threatened. I grabbed the baseball bat as my only available weapon. I could see that a fight was about to break out, and thought it better to be prepared.
"Hey, gnome guy. Remember what I told you earlier? I said that if you hurt my sister in any way, and I meant any way, I would make you regret it."
I winked at Mabel to reasure her. Then I walked up to the leader gnome and picked him up by his shirt collar. "Now you may not be exactly human, but I'm pretty sure, that if I hit you with this bat, it would still really hurt." I smirked at his terrified face.
Then I lost the smirk and frowned. "Call off your gnome buddies, or else I'm gonna have myself a piñata to smash. And be warned, I swing hard."
"Y-your bluffing!" He tried. "I saw some rope in the cart if you want to test that theory." I swear I think he wet his pants. Gross!
"Alright alright! You win! We'll leave. Move out boys leave the girl! Now please let me go." I pretended to think about it while Dipper freed Mabel from the ground. "Since you didn't hurt my sister much physically, I've decided to spare you the torture. But if you ever try something like that again, you're my personal punching bag."
I dropped him and he ran off faster than his feet could carry him. I turned to Mabel with a concerned look. "Hey Mabes, you alright? Sorry I got so aggressive with those gnomes, but I was trying to go for merciless."
She hugged me tight, and muttered a 'thank you' in my ear. "Hey, what are big sisters for? And big brothers. Without Dipper here, we might have just asumed that Norman really was 'Normal... man!" I said imitating Norman.
We all laughed and headed back to the shack. When we got there though, I noticed Mabel was looking down. "What's up sis? What happened to your normal cheery self?"
She shrugged. "I don't know, I guess I'm just sad that my first boyfriend turned out to be a bunch of gnomes." Dipper smiled a bit and said, "Look on the bright side. Maybe the next one will be a vampire."
She smiled too. "Aww, you're just saying that!" She seemed slightly happier now. And then I got an idea. "Hey guys? You want to know a secret? If when we go into the shack after hours Stan's in there counting his money, and we all look like we had a heck of of a day, he'll maybe give us something. It worked last time I was here!"
They agreed with my plan and we got all dirty and tired looking. We put leaves in our hair, and everything. Then when I thought we were ready, we all went into the shack. Lucky enough, Stan was at the cash register counting the money.
"Yesh, you three get hit by a bus or something? Ha!" Dipper and Mabel look down and keep walking to the back while I shake my head no and wave my hand across my throat as a signal to cut him off.
Dip and Mabes were almost at the back door when Stan called out. "Hey! Um. Well,um w-wouldn't you know it, I acidentally overstocked some inventory, so um, how's about each of you take one item from the gift shop. On the house."
I swear Mabel cheered up in no time, as she excitedly asked "Really?" Dipper played it smart, "What's the catch?" They were amazing actors!
"The catch is do it before I change my mind. Now take something." I saw Dipper walk over to a shelve of pine-tree hats and pick one out, placing it on his head. I didn't even notice he had lost his other hat. It must have flew off when we were rushing to save Mabel.
I looked around too, but didn't find much of anything that I liked. I watched as Mabel pulled out a grappling hook. "Aw, now I'm jealous! Grappling hooks are awesome! Nice choice."
I still didn't see anything I liked, but when I went over to the shirts, I saw the perfect one. It was a magenta tank top with a pair of nerd glasses on it. It said the words 'Smarty Pants' underneath the glasses, which I thought was stupidly hillarious.
I found one in my size and told Stan, "I'll take this! The glasses on it remind me of my old pair." Everyone in the room seemed a little bit happier, even Stan!
"Alright, now that you got your stuff, it's time for bed." He said. I could tell he wanted to get to work as soon as posible tonight. "Hey Stan, do you want me to help you out down here a bit before bed? I haven't talked to you in a while, it would be nice to catch up."
He seemed to consider it for a second before answering. "Not tonight Tammie. It's only your second night here. You go get some sleep tonight." I looked at him worriedly and told the twins I'd be up in a minute.
Once they left and I reasured Dipper I wouldn't spill about the journal I started to talk with Stan. Me: "How close?" Stan: "Still missing that piece."
Me: "It'll turn up soon, I know it... Have you ever been stuck in a situation where if you spill a secret, you'll loose the trust of the people closest to you, but if you don't, then others would suffer more pain?"
He looked at me and said, "That's every day that you guys are here, while this is going on." He gestured towards the vending machine.
Me: "Well, now I'm in that position, but doubled up. Now I promised I wouldn't go into details, but I thought you could tell me the best way to deal with it."
He sighed. "Listen kid, you're much smarter than your old Grunkle Stan here multiplied by 5. I'm gonna leave you to figure this one out on your own." He gave a small smile, but it quickly faded away.
Stan: "Sometimes when I talk to you, it's like I'm talking with him. You're just like him you know?"
I smiled and gave him a hug. "I'm sure the two of you would've gotten along quite well together. You smart types are just like each other." He told me, and I squeezed him slightly harder.
Me: "Maybe so, but 'we smart types' in this family, would be nothing without you. Good night Grunkle Stan." I released him from the hug and quickly went upstairs.
I'm pretty sure he sat there a little longer, thinking about what I said before he noticed I was gone. But what I didn't know, was that Stan was silently crying and thinking of his brother.
I got up into our room to find Dipper laying in bed, reading in the journal and Mabel in her bed making another sweater. I walked over to Dipper's bed and asked him how good the book was.
Dip: "It's got some really interesting stuff in here, but I keep seeing these masses of random letters, numbers, or symbols. There's a page titled Codes, but it doesn't say what the key is for decoding them."
I looked at the Codes page, to see if I could spot any connections. Then I noticed something in the crack of the book.
Me: "Hey Dipper, what's that say?" I pointed at the tiny words hidden in the crack of the page. Dip: "Use a fire of all colors to reveal the hidden Codes and clues." (Made that up btw)
Me: "Simple, it's a riddle. Think, what is a fire? Light. And 'of all colors'. Well the color white is simply all the colors of the spectrum bouncing off of it, but the color black absorbs all of the colors of the spectrum. And then 'to reveal the hidden Codes' is the easy part. The author capitalized Codes, so he must only be referring to the key to decode all the other codes, which is on the Codes page. I'm guessing by clues he means there are messages on other pages?"
Dip: "So what you're saying is that we need a black light to get the key to decode all of the other coded messages, and that there are hidden messages on the other pages?"
I go over what he just said in my mind and nod. "That sounds about right. I'll go get one, I know we have a box of them in the party supplies." With that I grabbed my phone and headed back downstairs.
I looked in the gift shop to see that Stan had already left. I looked behind the counter and found the black lights. I grabbed two. A medium sized one for Dip, and a small keychain one for myself.
I put mine in my pocket and headed back upstairs. Me: "Here ya go bro-bro!" I handed him the medium sized one and watched as he shined it on the Codes page. Me: "Mind if I take some pictures of the book? I want to see if I can decipher some of the codes and symbols."
He nodded and said "Sure." I took the book and light from him and took pictures of the most important seeming pages. One with the light and one without. I also made sure to take a picture of the pages Grunkle Stan needed.
Then I turned to a page with a black triangle titled Bill Cipher. 'It couldn't be.' I read the page a little more before snapping a photo of it. "I'll have to go over this page more thoroughly later." I handed the stuff back to my brother and smiled. "Thanks bro, I'll get back to you on those codes once I've deciph... decoded them."
I went over to my window seat/bed. I look at the Bill Cipher page on my phone.
'It couldn't be. He just doesn't seem like the kind of person to be a dream demon. Although, on our first encounter he did try to scare me, and then laughed when he succeeded. But I just can't see it.' Eventually all of my random thoughts lulled me to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk around in front of the Mystery Shack. I saw that the ground beneath me was covered in many different pictures that I had seen over the years of my life.
I saw that underneath me currently was a picture of two brothers standing proudly in front of a boat named the Stan O' War. A few pictures closer to the shack was of Dipper, Mabel, and me from last Christmas.
I smiled at the happy memories, and walked into the shack. Once I got inside, I saw that there were only two pathways, one labeled Gravity Falls and the other labeled Other.
I chose the Gravity Falls route and walked down a really long hallway filled with doors. I opened one of them to see a memory of when I was talking to Dipper about what Norman could be.
"So what do you have? What is he?" I asked him from the chair.
"Nothing so far, he just seems... normal. Although I'm going to go over the vids one more time to make sure." I jumped out of my seat. "I'll help you out. Four eyes are better than two!"
Dipper and other me laughed at my old saying. I laughed too, a little. "Dipper, why can't I just tell you?"
I closed the door and realized just exactly where I was. I was obviously in my mindscape, but I was also in recent memories. I ran down the hall to where the memories of story imaginings were kept.
I opened up a door to reveal Stan and Ford fighting on the ground. They were rolling around, fighting each other, while they acidentally started up the portal. Then Ford kicked Stan into a weird alien symbol that branded him.
Stan cried out in pain as Ford tried to apologize for hurting him. But Stan just pushed him away into the portal room. I watched as Stan got up holding his branded shoulder.
Stan: "Some brother you turned out to be. You care about your dumb mysteries more than your family? Well you can have them!"
I watched as he pushed the journal back at Ford, causing him to start getting sucked into the portal. I had to do something, I couldn't let this happen again!
I ran through the door and screamed "No!" as I grabbed a nearby piece of rope and lassoed it around Ford's ankle. I pulled as hard as I could and pulled him back through the portal.
Then everything seemed to freeze except for us three. Ford looked at me, then at the portal, then back at me. "Nice save kiddo! But this is the mindscape, you can't change what actually happened. I'm still on the other side of wherever that portal leads, and you are still trying to help get me back."
I sighed in defeat. "I know. But I thought, maybe, I could actually save you so that the real present didn't happen. And you were back at the shack with all of the rest of us. That way I didn't have to keep these secrets anymore, and you would be safe with us."
Suddenly the floor started rumbling. I looked around and saw my hand disappearing before my eyes. "Aww. I'm waking up. Well, hopefully I'll see you again soon Grunkle Ford." He smiled a smile that was all too much like Stan's and said goodbye.
I woke up on the the small window seat and sat up to look outside. The sun was just barely up so I decided to see if I could find something to do.
I quietly got out of bed and tip toed down the stairs to the living room. I found Stan was asleep in his chair. I looked at the time and saw it was 5:43.
'Hmm, I still got a while until everyone wakes up. What to do, what to do.' Then I got the perfect idea. I quietly snuck into Stan's room and grabbed one of his pictures. It was the perfect one.
Then I grabbed a picture of Stan, Wendy, Soos, Mabel, Dipper, and me. I made a copy of Stan's picture and put the original back where I found it. I the used my personal scissors and cut Ford from the copy picture, and glued him into the picture with us.
Then I grabbed a pen and on the back I wrote, 'Don't worry, family is forever, no matter how far apart we are!' Once I was sure he would love it, I put the picture in an envelope and tucked it away into an inner pocket in his suit.
I looked at the clock again, 6:58. Might as well start breakfast. I went into the kitchen and thought about what I should make. Then I thought about that line from Shrek, "We'll stay up late, swapping manly stories. In the morning, I'm makin' waffles!"
'I've made up my mind I'm making waffles!' While I did that, I also made some homemade strawberry syrup. I pulled out the last waffle and put the syrup in an empty jar, setting them out on the table for everyone.
I walked upstairs and woke up Mabel and Dipper. Once they were awake, I went into the livingroom and tried to wake up Grunkle Stan. When shaking him didn't work, I pulled a one dollar bill from my pocket and waved it in front of his nose. He immediately woke up and grabbed the money.
"Breakfast is ready Stan. Come eat your waffles before they get cold." I walked out of the room and back to the table to find Mabel and Dipper already eating my delicious waffles.
Mabel jumped out of her seat and hugged me. "These are the best waffles ever! Thank you Tammie! But why are you treating us to this speacialty?"
"Glad you like them! I had gotten up early and decided to do something nice for each of you guys! The pancakes were my something special to you Mabel. Dipper, your surprise is after breakfast, but for now everyone dig in!"
Grunkle Stan walked into the room at that moment. "Do I get something too?" I smiled as wide as I could with a mouthful of waffles and syrup. I swallowed it quickly, but slow enough to not choke. "You already have your surprise. You just have to find it!"
He gave a big huff and sat down to enjoy the food. "Mmm! These are much better than Stan cakes! You could sell these and make quite a bit of money..."
I stopped him there. "I'm not selling the pancakes to your customers, they would get stale and wouldn't sell. Waste of money. I propose we sell the syrup. It would make a larger profit, with less chance of the product spoiling."
All three of them looked at me, then Stan spoke up, "You know, you're too smart for your own good. Much like someone else I used to know a long time ago."
I frowned for a second before quickly smiling again. "Thank you! Now, I cooked so you guys are doing the dishes." I quickly got up and left before any of them could say anything.
I walked outside and into the shade of the forest trees, waiting for Dipper. When he came out, I waved him over. We sat there and talked for a little while about the journal, and it's contents.
Me: "Okay, so I was thinking about something this morning. Two years ago, when I first came to Gravity Falls, I wandered into the forest. While I was wandering, I acidentally tripped on a branch and found a hidden tunnel. It lead me to the most amazing climbing tree ever! Of course I climbed it, and you know what I saw?"
He looked at me curiously. "What?" I leaned in close and told him. "Your surprise." He got excited and begged me to take him.
"Alright. It's been a while though, so I don't remember the original path, but I do remember the long way. Let's go!"
As we walked through the forest, I told him more. "I would go there almost every day, just to sit there, until I started helping Stan in the Shack more. Then I only went up there every once in a while when I needed to get away and think. I built a tree house up there so that even when it rained, I could enjoy it there."
We finally reached the tree and I atomatically started climbing. Then I remembered Dipper and climbed back down. Dip was too short to reach the first branch. "Oops, sorry Dip dot. I guess I was a little taller than you when I found this tree. Here let me help you up."
I boosted him up to the branch and he didn't seem to have any problem after that. I climbed after him and quickly reached the top before him. I waited at the top for him to make his way up the last couple of feet.
"Come on Dip, this way." I led him across a little bridge of many intertwining branches to a ladder I had put in the next tree over. "Eventually I put this ladder here to shorten the climb. The branches here are a hard climb and I can't say I haven't gotten tired after climbing them a few times."
We made our way into the little tree house I built and out to a balcony supported by many more intertwining branches.
I looked at Dipper as he stared at the sight before him. His face was filled with amazement and wonder. "Some view huh?" He looked at me, breath-taken. All he could do was nod.
Me: "I showed this place to you because you remind me of myself. You're very smart for your age, and there's something about you that just inspires new hope for the future of our civilization. All the people now a days are rude and selfish and cruel. It's people like you that give hope to make this Earth something better."
He sits down on the edge and continues to stare out into the distance. Me: "Bleh! Too much sentimental nonsence. The real reason I brought you here is because I thought that you were becoming more and more like me, and you might need a place you can go to think. That's what this place is, a thinking place. And I wanted to share it with you."
After a while, we went back to the shack and ate lunch. Mabel insisted we tell her what Dipper's surprise was, but all I said was that I showed him a place in the woods that I found when I was their age.
Throughout the day Stan kept questioning me about his special thing, but all I said was that he's had it ever since he woke up this morning. Then he would just walk away confused.
Once it was bedtime, I told everybody that I would take a night shift during the week so that I can restock and stuff during the night while everyone else sleeps. Stan tried to refuse, but I cut him off. "Besides, I'm a night person, so it fits with my natural sleeping schedule. So it's better for me."
He was about to reject my offer, but decided that it would look too strange if he did. "Alright, your new hours are from 10:30 in the afternoon to when the shack closes, and then from 10 at night to 3 in the morning. Your pay stays the same."
I smile. "Perfect. And you don't pay me so I don't care. Good night you two. See you tomorrow." I watch as my bro and sis ascend the stairs and go to our room.
Once they close the door, I turned to Stan and said, "Time to get to work!" He glares at me for forcing him to change my hours then sighs in defeat. "I suppose it is less suspicious this way. But you should have asked me about this before now."
Me: "I suppose I should have, but then you would have said no. Simple as that. Like you said before, I'm smarter than five of you." I could see that he knows that I'm right.
"I'll stay here and do my job for a while until I'm sure they're asleep, them I'll come help you." He nodded and headed into the basement to work on the portal. I started restocking until all was restocked. I looked at the clock, 6 minutes to midnight.
I headed down to the basement and saw him trying to figure out what to do. I snuck up behind him and covered his mouth as I said "Boo!" He totally freaked out and almost jumped out of my grip.
He was screaming, but my hands muffled most of the noise.
"Geez Stan, it's just me. Hey, I was going to tell you this yesterday, but you won't believe what was found."
He stopped screaming and calmed down, removing my hands. "Geez kid, you almost gave me a heart attack. Anyway, what did you find?" I thought for a second then decided on what I was going to do.
"Look in your suit pocket first." He looked in the pockets and found the envelope I planted. He looked at me questioningly and opened it. He pulled out the picture and looked at it.
He looked at it for a long time, not saying anything. I'm pretty sure he was crying. Finally he turned it over and read the back. Me: "We'll get him back real soon." Stan: "How do you know?" I smiled. Me: "Because we have this." I showed him the picture I took of the portal page.
S: "How?" Me: "When Dipper and I were hanging up those signs in the woods, Dipper found a secret compartment in a tree that opened up a secret compartment in the ground. That's where it was hidden. But I promised not to tell you about the journal, so I couldn't say anything before. I've just got pictures, but check this out!"
I shined the mini black light on a random page in the first journal. It revealed a hidden message on the page. Me: "He really wanted to hide his research."
S: "Before he... you know, he told me that he had made terrible mistakes and that there was no one he could trust. Why did I have to get mad at him? We could have been friends again. But I blew it." I gave him a reasuring pat on the back.
Me: "Listen, we only have one journal left to find, then we have all of the information we need to bring him back. Now, what's this problem you're working on?" S: "Math. I'm no good at this stuff. I'll probably just screw this up too. I'll never save my brother!"
Me: "Sure you will! You just need to keep trying. Here, I'll do all of the calculations, and you can do all of the mechanic stuff. That way we'll get things done quicker. Four eyes are better than two."
He smiled at me. S: "You're one of a kind you know?" Me: "I thought you said I was just like your brother?" I smirked at him and he laughed. I joined in on the laughing.
Me: "What! Stan you're a guinius! Now let's see. If I was Ford, where would I hide the second journal. That's it! I've got it! He would have hidden it in the most unthinkable place to put something." I looked at the clock, it read 3:02 am. "Well my shift it's over, I'll go see if my hunch is right tomorrow, but for now...*yawn* it's bedtime for me. Night Stan."
He said goodnight and I went to bed.
Me: "Goodnight Gravity Falls." Then I fell asleep.
