(15 year old Lira)
Hiccup rolled his eyes at Lira.
"your not faster than me and toothless. No way we're the fastest, not even stormfly could best us."
"Does Highflyer look like a deadly natter to you. I seriously hope not!"
Lira joked back.
"Fine, one week to prepare. One lap race around the island!"
"you are so on!" Lira flew up next to hiccup and they shook hands. Then both flew their separate ways to get ready. Each coming up with brilliant plans on how to win the race.

I walked into my house.
"Streamline saddle could be better. I guess. I am going to get chicken from Astrid. I'm sure she has some, you ok will going on a chicken diet girl?"
She groaned, "don't worry! Once we win the title fastest on Berk you can have fish. Until then, that's some good motivation!" I laughed as she rolled her eyes.
"don't you wanna best toothless? I know you can."
I walked over to her and she put her head in my lap. I stroked her nose.
"you wanna go on a flight girl?"
She nodded. When we where up on the air I told her to fly as fast as she could. We where going pretty fast I leaned down to tell her she was awesome and we picked up speed.
"MORE AIRLINE SHAPE! OF CORSE!" I yelled over the wind. I stuck my legs out and gripped the front.
"go fast again!"
I yelled up to her. She did, really fast! So fast my fingers slipped and I flew off her back.
"HIGH!!"
I landed was caught by black feet.
"hey hiccup," I said not looking up.
"why Hello Lira!"
Toothless looked at me. I signaled for him to drop. He did as I said I screamed. I turned around and saw toothless racing after me hiccup leaning over his head. I hit the black scales of my dragon.
"AWWWW! you do care!"
Hiccup rolled his eyes.
"yeah I care if you die."
"well you know I have a dragon. She knows where I am and can fly. So if I just happen to fall from the sky she can get me," Sarcasm flew through my voice. Highflyer and I both laughed. The boys rolled there eyes in sync.
"alright hiccup stop stalling. I have work to do."
"you can do all you want Lira, it's not going to make you faster."
I flew up above him and hung by my feet on high's arms. I smacked him in the back of the head.
"not that! actual work, I have to make money if I want to make High faster," I snickered, "and if I want to eat. You know so I don't die."
He sighed, "fine I'll leave you alone."
"good."

I headed to my job, I watched as Hiccup headed to Gobber's. I landed near the great hall and told High to wait outside. I heard a deep bark.
"Alysheba just in time!"
I met the wolfs crystal blue eyes. He yelped at me.
"hope your ready!"
I got a happy bark in return. I walked in and ran into Aslog my boss. I'm a bus boy mostly but if they need extra help at the bar I can help. Alysheba helps with carrying dirty dishes. The job gets done twice as fast when he helps. I can carry 4 trays and he can carry 2 trays. So around the fall I go picking up dirty dishes. I also take empty cups to the bar to be refilled.
I walk over to a familiar face. I have a tray balanced on my head two under one arm and the other arm is wiping off a table. Alysheba is bringing two trays back to the bar.
"Hiccup," I said with warning.
"What?"
"don't mess with me right now. I'm busy."
"I- I couldn't tell," he chuckled poking at the tray on my head.
"HICCUP!" I threw the dirty wet cloth at him.
"Sorry geeze."
I rebalanced the tray. your lucky your cute hiccup. I swear to God if it was anyone else they would get punched in the face immediately.

+++++++one week later+++++++
It was the day of the race to see who was faster. High had been on an all chicken diet and I had managed to slim down the saddle and fix it go a bendable leather strap was on the front, so I could hold on.
Hiccup looked at me. I put on my gloves(picture, because they are amazing). Hiccup had some new ajustments as well. These includes, a new streamline saddle and tail, and ((dreamy eye glaze)) a new leather suit for himself. Astrid razed the flag. I started in an upright position so I wouldn't give away my secret too soon.

GOOOO!
BOTH OF US ZOOMED AWAY! I GOT INTO MY NEW POSITION AND HICCUP LOOKED BACK JUST IN TIME TO SEE US PASS. I SALUTED AND HE URGED TOOTHLESS TO GO FASTER. ME AND HIGHFLYER WEREN'T EVEN AT TOP SPEED YET! AT ABOUT 5 YARDS AWAY I WAS IN THE LEAD.

I watched Lira pass us, laying down was a good idea. I urged toothless to go faster. Lira saluted back at me and zipped off. Gods they we're fast! But I had to win if I did I promised my self I would ask her out. But I was behind I leaned down and flew a little faster but High was already near the end. Toothless mustered everything he had and let it rip. The fastest I have ever flown. We we're head and head with them. Final moments. High picks up speed and they finished and inch before us. I was horrified.
"BEST DRAGON RACE EVER!" the crowd cheered. I slid off toothless.
"nice flying," I held out my hand.  But she pushed it away and hugged me.
"That was awesome. Thanks for the friendly competition. Your the best friend ever! Plus! I got the fastest dragon nanny nanny boo boo," She smiled her arms still around my neck and my hands holding her hips while she was on tippy toes.
Yeah, best friend.
