Chapter 9 - Michael🌙
I heard a scream before I was quickly pushed off my bed. Surprised at the attack, I wasn't prepared to hit the floor face first. I muttered a curse as I pushed myself up to a sitting position. This was not how I wanted to wake up.
I turned to face Misha who looked terrified. The woman's fiery red hair sticking out in every direction as she held up my pillow up in the air ready to throw it at me. I gave her one of my hardest glare.
"Don't you dare." I ordered, pointing my finger at her.
"What did you do?" She shouted, her eyes were frantic.
"Nothing!" I growled.
She threw the pillow at my face.
Ok, that's it. The woman's a psycho. I jumped onto the bed and pinned her down. It was a very hard task as she was failing her hands everywhere and scratching me all over. I growled lowly before wrapping my hands around her wrist and pinning them above her head. I straddled her hips to stop her legs from trashing.
"Why am I in your bed then if we didn't do anything?" She snapped angrily. Her eyes flaming up in anger.
I rolled my eyes, "You crazy woman, I did nothing. You fell asleep in my office and I took you to my bed where you slept like the dead. I slept on the other side of the bed."
"Liar!" She shouted and started struggling again.
I clenched my jaw in irritation. "Stop struggling, Laurel. If you don't stop I'll make sure to tie you to this bed!"
She stopped struggling immediately. I exhaled with annoyance. My eyes narrowing on her as I spoke.
"I did not touch you. If I were to touch you, trust me when I say you will be more naked than this." My eyes roamed her body up and down.
She squawked and glared at me, "How am I to believe you didn't touch me?"
"I can't show you the truth. You just have to believe me." I explained impatiently.
She scoffed, "Fat chance!"
"You know what?" The corner of my lips lifted. "Since you insist that I touched you I might as well make use of your accusation."
I leaned down and kissed her forehead. She gasped and began struggling more. I tightened my grip on her body and kissed her nose then her cheeks. She managed to free a side of her hip where her on of her legs made contact with my manhood.
I rolled over in pain. She gave me a triumph smile. "Serves you right."
"You're crazy."
"And your insane!" She glared darts at me.
She picked up a pillow and threw it right at me. I growled and threw it back at her. It hit her in the face and she stumbled back a little in surprise. When the pillow fell from her face, she was livid. She launched herself at me. I pulled up the blanket to shield my body. She crawled onto my body and began punching me through the blanket.
"You're an asshole!" She shouted.
"Are you always this grouchy in the morning?" I asked from underneath the blanket.
She growled and attempted to yank the blanket off.
"Rape! Rape!" I shouted.
"Will you shut up?" She ordered angrily.
I laughed and let go of the blanket. She flew back onto her butt at the sudden force. I got up and ran into the bathroom as fast as I can. Just in time too. I heard something hit my door before clattering onto the ground.
"I'll see you later!" I shouted through the door.
"Not a chance! It is my day off, boss. That means you don't get me for the whole day! I'm going to spend every second of it in freedom!" She sounded very angry.
I smirked as I began taking off my clothes. I totally forgot today was her day off. I have grown so use to her hanging around. I also noticed that around her I seemed to think a little less. She filled the space in my mind that keeps me busy. I don't think and I am not easily angered.
I sighed and got into the shower. Taking a very much needed shower, I thought about last night. Yes, I carried her to bed as soon as I saw her fall asleep. I also saw that she had in her hands a very important report that I was also looking for. The minute I saw the picture of the amulet I knew she didn't recognize it completely yet.
If she did, she would have reacted. The amulet was hers. I remember hearing that she had given this very powerful amulet to a witch to gain the cure for Alpha Constantin.
After carefully putting the report somewhere safe, I carried her to my bedroom. She snuggled right in like it was her own bed. I chuckled again at the sight of her this morning. Even if I wanted to be angry at her for throwing a pillow at me, I had to admit she looked pretty damn adorable with her hair sticking out everywhere.
After taking a shower, I slipped on a pair of denim washed jeans and a plain black t-shirt before making my way downstairs. I needed to meet with Josef. Last night I had discovered something after cleaning up my desk a little.
A historical event on Alpha Rayne. Her pack was considered a weak pack. Hidden in the woods and the Alpha barely steps out even for the Alpha games. She arrives, finishes her job, and leaves. No conversations are made in her stay.
I found Josef finishing off his bowl of cereal. I nodded for him to follow. When we entered into the office, I took out the two pieces of report that Misha and I found and placed it in front of him.
He picked it up to examine. I watched his hand trace the gold and intricately designed oval shaped amulet. The middle of the oval was mad of glass and the lycan's blood swirled around in it. His eyes reading over the lines carefully before he sat it down.
"How does these two relate?" He asked, still very confused.
"The amulet belongs to Misha's bloodline. Her mother and grandmother were healers too. Sworn protector of the last Lycan's blood that was passed down from generation to generation. This blood is more valuable than anything." I slowly explained to Josef.
"How is it valuable?" He was now interested in the topic.
"A lycan's blood can shift a werewolf's DNA—turn them to the last lycan. It is the last survival instinct. Whoever gets a hold of it and uses it—can be the most powerful being on earth. There speeds are beyond imaginable. A lycan's thirst for blood is a thousand times more than a werewolf. In a war, a lycan can kill over thousands of werewolves in under an hour." I continued my explanation.
"I feel like there is a catch to all this," Josef's eyebrows crinkled.
I nodded, "If a werewolf plans to take the last lycan's blood, they have to drain the blood and end the life of a healer. The blood of a healer will act as a conduit in combining the two different DNA. Without the healer's blood, drinking the last lycan's blood is setting you to be killed."
"And Misha is a healer and if I am following your train of thoughts, she is the sworn protector of the family. Her family is the one who holds the amulet." I didn't need to answer him. He didn't wait for me too. "She was tortured violently to gain access to the amulet."
I nodded and was internally impressed with Josef's quick judgement. Josef stood up, unable to sit with this kind of news.
"This is important information. We have a healer who holds the last drop of blood that could bring back the last lycan back. It could create a whole new race." He began spewing ideas and then stopped in his pacing. "We also need to protect her."
I was extremely surprised at his determination. I saw no hunger for power but his will to protect what was right and that was the loss of an innocent life if someone was to get a hold of the amulet.
"If anything, your previous statement of keeping this away from her is re-enforced. We need to keep her safe. Do you know if she has the amulet?"
I shook my head, "I don't know."
"Ok, you got me. What does this have to do with Alpha Rayne?" Josef prodded further and moved back to sit in his seat across from me.
"I am not sure but according to historical event dated in the past, Alpha Rayne was also mistreated badly by her uncle. He had done horrible things to her ever since she was five." I explained.
"You're saying her uncle performed sexual active-"his eyes widened and a look of horror and disgust crossed his face.
"When we found out about it...the uncle was killed immediately but by then Alpha Rayne has fully grown into her wolf. She was already of age. When I found her, she stunk and was as skinny as bones. She didn't trust anybody and shut everyone out. She turned the pack to a better standing now."
"I still don't see these two relating." He replied confused.
"I met Alpha Rayne a couple years ago at the Alpha games. I went with Alpha Maksim. She looked different. There was a look in her eyes—she looked dead and hallowed. No feelings or emotion crossed her face. I don't know how these two are related but her territory bordered the closest to where Misha woke up in." I said. "This is why I told you this. I need more warriors around Misha and I need an elite warrior to infiltrate Alpha Rayne's home."
"To do what?"
"To discover what is going on behind those walls. What is the female Alpha hiding? What is she planning and if she held a part in Misha's torture." I responded.
Josef didn't argue but he did look worried, "Do you think this is a good idea? Spying on another Alpha could be lethal. If she found out, war can begin and many people will die."
"If we don't start somewhere, then people will die. If she's innocent, she will have nothing to hide."
