Chapter 27 - Misha

The usual welcoming of the wood appears to not welcome me like every other occasion. No longer do I feel a sense security or comfort from them. I was roaming on enemy lines almost blindly. I can feel my wolf was on edge. She wasn't as strong yet but she was strong enough to let me know she was there.

The terrain of Alpha Rayne's territory was thick with many hills and valleys. Dense trees that covered the grounds for thirty miles. It took us more than 20 minutes to emerge from her woods and onto open territory. Before me was the pack house and surprisingly, the pack house was well kept. It didn't look awful. It was big and tall. A total of four stories high.

Sebastian turned to look at me, "I need you to stay close to me as much as possible. Always stay in the shadows. Try not to make any noises."

"Do you know where he is?" I asked.

"Alpha Rayne has a dungeon below the pack house. She ordered her pack members to dig down deep into the hill that they are on. It is heavily guarded but the way we are going there will be not that much guards to worry about." He answered, turning back to walk into the shadow of the woods. We walked behind the pack house.

I squeezed his hand to get his attention. He turned his head slightly telling me he was listening.

"If you are playing me, Seb, I won't hesitate to kill you." I whispered threateningly.

He squeezed my hand back and we continued to follow the shadows until we hit the back of the pack house. He dropped down onto his knees and felt around in his pocket. He took out a lock picking kit and worked on the locks on the door. It took a while but the doors eventually open.

The pack house was as quiet as the woods. Not a single sound. We entered into a dark hallway that was lit with only one wall light. Sebastian and I walked further down the hallway and passed several rooms until we heard footsteps. In a panic, he turned towards me and pushed me into a room. Luckily, it was unlocked.

He waited for the guard descending footsteps. When it started to sound farther away, Sebastian and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thank god for human made masked spray." He whispered. I couldn't agree more. If they sniffed us out, we would be dead. Even with Sebastian's amazing knowledge of this place wouldn't save us with the hundreds of wolves living in this pack.

We walked back out of the room we hid in and Sebastian closed the door behind us before leading me again down the dark hallway. We heard voices again talking back and forth. Sounded like there were only two people. Sebastian pulled me into another hallway to avoid bumping into them. We listened to them talk.

"She didn't come. The Alpha is angry." A deep baritone voice stated.

"I am surprised she didn't. She must really be a coward to let another person die in her place." The female voice said. Footsteps grew closer and Sebastian looked at me almost in a panic. He knew they were too close. I covered my mouth with my hands, to stop my breathing.

"It doesn't matter now. We are done with him. The Alpha ordered to get rid of him by tonight." My heart thumped against my chest when realization dawned on me. They were talking about Michael.

"He is too weak. Lost too much blood. Your torturing methods are too cruel, Nate." The woman replied.

The man with the deep baritone voice we now recognized as Nate chuckled darkly. A door opened close by and closed. The two-voice disappearing inside. Sebastian breathed another sigh of relief. He shook his head.

"Too fucking close." He muttered.

We tip toed down the hallway in the direction that they came from. A bolted door leading down to what seem the basement.

"Stairs. Watch your step." He ordered.

We walked down the steps until we reached a very narrow hallway. Small lights lit the hallway and I recognize the place immediately. It was from my dreams. My grip on Sebastian tightened. He sniffed the air and turned towards me.

"He's close but I smell a lot of blood." He stated but halted in steps.

He pointed ahead of him and several yards ahead was two guards. He pointed in the direction of an open dungeon room. I walked inside and he follow right after me. We leaned up against the cold cement wall and waited for them to walk past us. Once they did, he followed them and took them both down with stabs to the neck. The gurgling noises can be heard as they fought to stay alive.

"We need to move fast. The next guard shift change will be happening soon." His bloody hands took my hand and we sprinted down the hallway. He stopped in front of a dungeon and I can smell Michael. My heart felt like it was being shocked back to life. I wanted to see him so badly.

Sebastian took out a pair of keys he must have stolen from the guards that he killed and open the dungeon door. Michael was not moving. The chains on the walls that were holding him up were the only thing keeping him upright.

I ran to him and cupped his cheeks, "Michael! Michael! Wake up please!"

I shook him slightly but he didn't respond. The injuries inflicted on his body—his body was drenched in his own blood. I felt sick. The bile was rising inside of me and I took a huge breath. I can't bear to see him like this.

Sebastian moved to unchain him. The minute he released, Michael collapsed onto me. I caught him but he was huge. We fell to the ground. Again, I tried waking him up but he didn't.

Sebastian swung one arm over his shoulder and looked down at me. "Hurry, Misha. We need to get him out and I can't do it without you."

I nodded and moved to grab his other arm. I wrapped it around my shoulders and we walked out of the dungeon room. I was about to head towards the stairs again but Sebastian shook his head.

"No, too risky. They will catch us before we can get out of this place. He is drenched in blood. His scent will be easily detectable." He pointed out.

He was right. Sebastian gestured with his head for us to head other direction.

"When I worked here in the dungeon, there was an escape route. This place is a dungeon but also a very secured place. If there was ever an attack, all pack members were to move down here. An escape door is created just in case. The only one who has the keys to this door is the prison guards.

Michael was extremely heavy and because he was completely unconscious, he gave us all his weight. It was not easy carrying a man over 200 pounds. Sebastian shifted the weight towards me more and Michael leaned into my body as Sebastian worked to find the key.

He finally got the door opened and we again were looking into a narrow dark passageway again. He took the weight off from me and we continued down the passage. He closed the door behind him.

"Thank you." I whispered quietly to him.

Sebastian looked over at me, "Don't thank me yet. We aren't out of this hell hole. Once we are out, you can thank me."

I nodded as we quietly and as quickly as we can out of the passage. It seemed like forever but when we emerged from the passageway, we were in the woods again. The passageway went passed the open grounds of Alpha Rayne's territory and right into the woods. Sebastian unlocked the door and pushed it opened.

We were doing so great and I was finally starting to feel some hope that we will survive this all but the hairs behind my neck immediately stood up and I knew immediately we were not alone.

"This was fun." A woman's voice spoke from behind me.

Sebastian and I turned around and was face to face with Alpha Rayne and two guards. Alpha Rayne's dark black hair tied up into a high ponytail. The threatening aura around her was suffocating. She didn't like what she saw.

Her eyes snapped to Sebastian and an evil smirk appeared on her face. "I should have known you will betray me."

"Let them go." Sebastian pushed me and Michael back. Of course, with all the weight of Michael leaning onto me. I fell to the ground with him in my arms. I cradled his head with my lap.

Sebastian moved into fighting stance before me. The two guards shifted closer, ready to pounce.

"You would have made it, if it wasn't for the shift change. I found the two guards you stabbed." Alpha Rayne mentioned in a casual tone but she was anything but calm.

The two guards attacked Sebastian but Sebastian was surprisingly strong. He took them down easily. Alpha Rayne's jaw ticked and I knew she was angry.

"All I ask is for the amulet and the girl. If you give me the girl and the amulet, you are free, Sebastian. I will give you your freedom." She tried to reason with him all the while walking closer to him.

Sebastian's eyes were guarded. He didn't let down his guard.

"I don't want my freedom." Sebastian replied.

"That's too bad then, Sebastian. Are you really going to die for this woman?" Alpha Rayne asked, pointing a finger at me.

"Yes. I would." He answered truthfully.

Alpha Rayne laughed, "Fine with me. One less person in my way."

Sebastian bounced back from Alpha Rayne's launched attack. She shifted into her dark gray wolf just as Sebastian shifted into his. Their jaws snapping and growling at each other. Paws swiping to the air.

I looked down at Michael and I knew that it was too late. His eyes opened slightly to look at me and I could only see a hint. He was conscious but not strong enough. Werewolves might heal quickly but Michael's wolf was tired from trying to heal him this whole week. His breathing was getting slower and shallower. His blood volume was extremely low. He had lost too much. If I don't get him back home to a hospital, he won't survive this but I won't be able to leave this territory without him too.

My mind ran through multiple possibilities and probabilities. How are we going to survive this? How can I turn this event around and then it hit me.

Protect it with your life. Give it only when you have nothing left to give this world.

My mother's words.

I took in a deep breath and my wolf realizing what I was doing, we brought Michael's lips towards where my jugular vein was at. I was still keenly aware of the fight going on behind me but I needed to act fast.

"Bite me, Michael. Do it. Drink my blood." Tears spilling down my cheeks now. I couldn't stop it. It was clear that Sebastian will never win Alpha Rayne. If I don't do anything, everything will be lost. We will all die.

He shook his head softly but I cried harder. "Michael! Do it or we will both die! Do you want Alpha Rayne to get a hold of me? I can't carry you Michael. We won't get out of here alive. Do you want her to be the one who holds my blood in her veins? Stay alive and fight for me, please. Bite me now!"

His canine lengthened and I felt him pierce my skin. Immediately, I felt warm blood gushed from my throat. I couldn't breathe. He sucked and took it all in. I cried while I held him to my chest. His arms wrapped around me as he sucked me dry.

My body started to get weak. I gurgled and coughed but I didn't fight him. With the strength I had left, I shuffled through my bag and took out the amulet. I placed it into Michael's hand and felt his hand tightened around it. My eyes met Sebastian as he watched the scene unfold before me. He was trying hard to fight Alpha Rayne off.

My vision blurred and darkness soon welcomed me.
