Chapter 23 - Misha
A/N
So, I have been doing a lot of thinking – it seems that placing mature chapters on private is even more confusing to my readers than putting it in a separate book even though the majority of the votes asked for it to be in the same book. I'm pulling at the roots of my hair now. I want to satisfy Wattpad guidelines but I also don't want to make this difficult for you.
Therefore, I'm just going to place mature chapters into my books. If you don't like it then skip it. Fair enough?
And if you are expecting for me to place it on private or move it to another book – stop. Most of my books are with characters above the age of 18 which means they are considered adults. There will be sexual content in my books. The end. *wipes sweat from forehead*

On a better A/N or update – I want to thank those who thought of me while nominating in The Fictions Award 2018 werewolf category. I am absolutely grateful that you enjoyed my book and considered it for nomination. There are millions of other awesome werewolf writers and although I don't see myself winning I am absolutely grateful that I was considered for the werewolf category.

I woke up to a cold bed. I knew immediately that Michael was gone. The pack house was again extremely quiet and an eerie feeling tugged in my chest. I slipped on my clothes on and walked out of the bedroom.
Not a single soul roaming the hallways and it wasn't even passed eight. However, I did see a guard by Michael's door. The minute he saw me his hand came up to stop me.
"You are not to leave the room." He ordered.
My eyebrows furrowed immediately, "What happened? Where is the Alpha?"
The guard looked stressed and panicked. Something was definitely wrong. I slapped his hand away and attempted to march down the hall. The guard immediately latched onto my elbow and pulled me back.
"The Alpha gave specific orders. You are to remain in the room." He ordered, he looked around his late thirties.
"I'm not staying here. There is no reason to keep me here. I will just be going-"
"It is not safe, Healer. You need to-"
"I get it!" I shouted, exasperated. "Don't say another word unless you are going to tell me something different. What I want to know is what the hell happened? Why am I being ordered to stay in the room? The pack house is completely silent. There isn't a single sound and usually around this time everyone is either dinner or heading to bed."
The guard sighed and with his spare hand rubbed his chin, "There was another attack. The last I heard, Alpha ran out to help contain the threat. Beta Josef ordered me to remain by your door and protect you. Then he left after Alpha."
"How long were they gone? Why wasn't I informed?" I demanded, while everything was going on, I was sleeping soundly. I felt useless.
"They have been gone for three hours now going on four." Even the elite guard in front me couldn't hide his concerns. I knew he knew something was wrong.
"That is way too long, isn't it?" I asked.
He nodded slowly and hesitantly, "An attack shouldn't be hard to contain unless something has changed."
It was then downstairs flood with noise. People shouting and screaming. Others were wailing. I pushed the elite guard by surprise and ran down the hall. He called out my name and chased after me. I ran down the steps as fast as I can and went flying straight into Beta Josef's arm. He looked horrible. The claw marks on his body – he looked bloodied and pale. Immediately, I looked behind him for Michael.
"Where is he?" I asked. "Is he okay? Is he in the hospital?"
"Misha, you need to calm down." He righted me before holding me at eye level. I can see the fear in his eyes. I can clearly see something was wrong.
"Where is he?" I demanded, fear pushing me to grow angrier. The elite guard moved to stand behind me. He also wanted to know.
"They have the Alpha. The attack on the border was unexpected. The amount of merc enary wolves—we were blindsided. They killed so many of our pack members even the pups. Alpha fought well and hard but they took him down. We couldn't get to him in time. We thought they were coming to you but when they attacked—they were going for Alpha." Beta Josef explained, I can feel the tension in his voice. Even he was worried about Michael.
I shook my head and shoved him aside. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. All I wanted was Michael and he wasn't here.
A shout came from the doorway and someone carried in a body. Beta Josef pushed himself towards the body and I followed quickly behind. The young male werewolf turned towards Beta Josef. The man who carried him took hold of Beta Josef's wrist.
"He insisted on speaking with you. He says he has a message." The pack member said.
Beta Josef nodded and looked down at the young man. His chest was completely torn into. He coughed and blood splattered everywhere. His lungs were filling up with blood and quickly. He moved to grip Beta Josef's hand in his tightly.
"They have the Alpha. I was on the South team. We were able to track them to a certain point. I caught sight of the person who captured the Alpha. She found me. She did this." He was mumbling and gurgling all at once. He didn't have much longer. He wheezed and grimaced in pain. I watched as he rolled over in pain. I could help him but somehow I knew it was already too late.
He turned to look at me, "She said to tell you to bring what she wants to her. She wants you and you alone. She said you will know exactly what she means. If you refuse, he will slowly die each day. The cloc-"
He coughed.
"The clock i-is ticking." His eyes were fluttering by now. He was fighting hard. A crowd has gathered around us.
Beta Josef fastened his grip on the young tracker's hand, "Who is she?"
"A-Alpha R-Rayne." He managed to answer before he took his last breath and closed his eyes. Alpha Rayne, the name ring in my head and I know deep inside I know this person because it puts a kind of fear inside of me that has me afraid to step out of my home.
I shook my head, my visions blurring. Something was happening to me. I felt like my body was flying. I couldn't feel anyone's touch or hear their words. It was like swimming under water.
They called out to me but I eventually felt myself collapse into a pair of arms.
"The pack fell apart..."
"There isn't a single soul left on that territory..."
"Alpha Viktor is dead..."
"There is no home..."
I narrowed my eyes and hopelessly look through the darkness. Where were all the voices coming from?
"Rogues—everyone fighting for themselves."
Bright white light flashed before me and I flinched back from the blinding light. I appeared in a small old diner. Coming out of the kitchen, I carried a tray of food over to a table. I noticed how sunken my eyes looked. I looked defeated and empty.
The blinding light came again and I covered my eyes.
They were waiting for me at the cabin. I felt dread rush through me. I knew they were here but there were no escape. They have found me. I fought them—scratched and clawed even killed two of them but I was outnumbered. They beaten me down. I watched my eyes swollen shut. I watched them break my arm and slamming me into a wall. I watched them rub up against me.
I felt a sudden pull—a rush and everything around me blurred. When I can see again, I was standing face to face with Alpha Rayne. She wore a cruel smile on her face. Her eyes held triump and satisfaction upon seeing how beaten up I looked.
"Healer, you were a tough one to find. It took me a while but now I have you."
"Took you one whole year, a little slow don't you think?" I gave her a cocky smirk even though my heart was beating rapidly in my chest.
She growled and her eyes darkened. Stalking over to me she grasp my shoulder and broke my collar bone. I cried out in pain and her cruel smile came back.
"We can make this easy or we can make this the hard way. You decide, Healer. All I want is the amulet."
"Try your worst, Alpha Rayne. I know pain and I know darkness. They shroud over me my whole entire life they are practically my family." I smiled again through my pain. "I will not give you what you desire."
Alpha Rayne's eyes flashed black and she stalked towards me. I felt instant pain. I heard myself screaming and howling. The pain was immediate and sent ripples of shock through my body...blackness soon took over and I welcomed it with open arms.
When I awoke, I was back in Michael's bedroom, sleeping in his bed. Sweat covered my body. Again the pack house was quiet but this time I knew what was real and what wasn't. Michael was gone and I was alone again. The tightness in my chest caused my eyes to sting with tears. I only hope that I can remember fast enough to know where I put the amulet.
