I'll Be Back
George walked in with a picnic basket and Cotton Puff. Ringo and John were playing checkers.
"Hey, where's Paul?" George asked.
"Over at the Asher's, what's with the basket?"
"Me and Pattie are goin' on a date and I promised her Cotton Puff wouldn't be with us, so I need you guys to take care of her while I'm gone."
"Okay, I guess. I'm pretty good with c-" John tried to pet Cotton Puff, but she clawed and hissed at John. "-Or... not."
"How long'll you two be gone?"
"Um, no less than an hour!"
"George, sometimes, I just-"
George set Cotton Puff on the floor and ran out.
About 10 minutes later,
Cotton Puff began to like John and started purring and rubbing her fur against John's arm. "Told you I'm good with cats." John felt her and knew something wasn't right. She was shivering. "Aw, poor thing." John pulled up a blanket and cloaked a small bit of it over Cotton Puff. She ducked under it and crawled under the blanket, playing around and only being visible by the tiny lump she'd make from where she lied.
Paul cracked the door open.
"Hey, Paul. I thought you were at Jane's."
"I was, but Peter told me Jane's sick and I couldn't visit her. So, I got her a get well card, roses, and being the thoughtful person I am, I thought she shouldn't have to deal with Martha and the flu, so I decided to take care of Martha for a few extra days." Paul fully opened the door as Martha happily trotted in on her leash.
"Uh... oh..." Ringo paused.
"What? Something wrong?"
Cotton Puff stuck her head out from the what seemed to her never ending blanket with a little mew. Martha jerked her head up and quickly found Cotton Puff. Martha raced over to Cotton Puff before Ringo scooped her up, keeping her from Lord knows what.
"Yeah. That's what's wrong."
Random fact: I can do a very good cat impression.
