The Wizard and The Predecessor
After a lot of arguing, The Ancient One finally gave in and they portaled to Kamar Taj.
They led Stephen to a room he was very familiar with, the library.
“Not that I don't love this place,” he chuckled dryly, “but what are we doing here?”
They looked at him with an unamused look. “You may have the knowledge and skills, Stephen.” They started scanning the shelves. “But you do not have the practice anymore. You will have to start over.”
They handed him a heavy pile of books and moved to another room. Strange tailing them after getting a stable hold on the books.
“So, Thanos, the Mad Titan?” They asked, moving to the stand in the middle of the room.
“You've heard of him?”
They spun one of the circular plates on the stand. A soft, glowing orange hologram formed, showing Thanos.
“There are myths about him. His parents were Sui-San and A'Lars, two eternals.” At the ex-neurosurgeon's questioning look, they explained. “The eternals are an immortal race created by celestials to defend planets from deviants.” Strange gave them a confused nod, not understanding a single word.
The hologram changed to Thanos’ parents. “His father tolerated him. His mother, however, saw the evil in his eyes the first time she held him and immediately attempted to murder him.” The hologram changes to Sui-San holding a scapel above her head, baby Thanos cradled in her right arm, A'lars trying to hold her back.
Strange let out an amused huff, “Go her.”
They looked at him, unamused. “She failed, obviously. A few years later, Thanos kills them both. And with them, Titan fell as well.” The hologram illustrates the events being narrated.
“-And then he goes on a murder spree while also trying to find the infinity stones, we know. The thing now, is how we’re going to stop him.”
His predecessor looked at him, confused. “Did you not think of a plan before you threw yourself back in time?”
“Uh, well… I sort of just… panicked?”
“I’m sorry, but did you just say you risked ripping apart the space-time continuum because you panicked?”
Strange gave them a sheepish smile and shrugged.
The Ancient One sighed. “Did you come here alone?”
“No, actually, I brought three other people with me. Yeah, they’re…” Strange quieted down, realising the three people were high schoolers in their fourteen-year-old bodies.
“Ok.” He looked at The Ancient One—who was waiting for him to finish—with a pained look. “I fucked up.”
The ancient one sighed, already having predicted this.
“Take a seat.” They said, gesturing at the seats. “This will be quite time-consuming.”
