Chapter Two.
Darkness encases my body which I can, oddly enough, still see clearly. My grey eyes are wide as I stare into the never-ending blackness. An unfamiliar pure white dress frames my body, contrasting with the surrounding darkness.
Where did this come from? I wasn't wearing this before...
Hysteric thoughts and perplexed questions reverberate around my mind.
Where am I? Am I dead? I'm actually kinda hungry... What happened? I'm going to die.
"Oakley..." My head whips round to face the voice.
Alo.
He brought me here.
"Where the hell am I?" I yell at him, scared and confused, momentarily shocking him, before he masks his obvious surprise.
"The Veil." He replies nonchalantly.
"What?" I ask, discombobulated.
"The Veil." He repeats, "The gap between existence and nothingness."
I don't reply.
I just stare at him as if he just grew another head.
He is insane.
A frustrated sigh escapes his lips. "I am not insane." He mutters, again shoving his hand through his hair. "I have orders. I'm supposed to show you, life without you."
I don't reply.
"Look, if this is some kind of sick joke, it's not funny." I murmur, turning my back on him. "I just want to go home-"
"Do you really?" He questions, interrupting me. Suddenly the ebony floor becomes extremely interesting.
"Look, Oak, I need you to trust me!"
Oak?
I give him a questioning look, which he responds to by sighing.
"Please. You need to see this." He spiels, guardedly holding out his hand.
"Okay." I whisper, after a moment of hesitation, seizing his hand.
Before my eyes, the blackness melted away, revealing the dull colours of the world.
