Chapter 4: The Heartbroken
A pack of beers and a gallon of ice cream later, they were ready for a fight. I was there for the denial and I wasn't going to miss anger.
Yo, where've you guys been?" Blake asked, him running out of the ocean with his board.
"Oh, nothing to get your panties in a knot," I assured as Abby and Nick kept walking angrily.
"But they look like they're on a mission. And you know how much I love missions." He gave me a toothy smile and a wet hair flip.
"Yes, I do. And you're going to have to watch from afar."
I caught up with The Heartbroken but before I knew it, words were already being spat.
"How dare you make out with that bitch?!" Abby screamed.
"Look, I don't want a real relationship. I'm not that kind of person, Abs." Jackson said.
"We've been together for seven years, Josefina!" Nick bawled.
"I can't believe you still thought we were dating, Nick. You're so ignorant." Joey cackled.
"Then why'd you give me this crap?!" Abby threw the charm bracelet at him. Jackson laughed.
"I did that just to get into your pants." Jackson clarified.
"You never said anything, you bitch!" Nick yelled.
"That's because I thought you knew I was seeing other people." Joey explained. "I always have been."
I have to say it, my friends were ignorant. They didn't know or didn't want to believe the people they were dating. But now my friends were hurt because of them and had to yell their heads off to feel better.
They went on for about ten minutes yelling about their broken hearts. I knew how that felt. At least I had someone to help me through it.

After The Heartbroken were done blowing their heads off, they started asking questions. Weird questions.
"What if we went on more dates? Maybe Jackson was feeling ignored?" Abby asked.
"Don't know. But I do know that I was stupid. What if I noticed what Joey was doing all these years? Maybe it wouldn't hurt so much," Nick said. Bargaining.
"You guys are fine. I'll teach you how to be single again," I promised.
"But I haven't been single for seven years. How do you teach something I never remember being? What if I'd never started dating Joey?" I kissed him on the cheek. Okay, I know. It was dumb. But, I've been wanting to do that for seven years. And he had to get her out of his mind.
"What's that for?" He asked, surprised.
"To make you feel better about yourself. They're plenty of fish in the sea, and you can't just try to catch one certain fish."
"You're right. I'm going to talk to that group of girls right there," he stated, pointing to three girls in orange bikinis. He took off his shirt and walked over there confidently. I was glad he was finally going after someone other that Joey. She had ruined him, but yet again, built him into who he was.
Nick talked to the girls for a while with a charming smile until he fell apart, crying. He was still distraught. But the girls all comforted him and he finally got their full attention. They kept looking back at Joey. It was so funny that Nick could get whichever girl he looked at, but he decided to be with the one girl who didn't see the amazing in him.
"See, Nick can do it. And so can you. Go ahead and flirt with those guys over there. I won't judge," I told Abby, pointing to two shirtless guys.
"I'm gonna sit this one out, okay?"
"Okay. But when you're done moping, let me know."

"Hey, Elizabeth," I heard a nasally voice say as I'm trying to tan.
"What do you want, Karen," I mocked in my own nasal voice.
"Come in the water with me. I want to talk about some serious stuff," she said. Karen always wanted to talk about where we were in our 'friendship.' Stupid bitch. If she only knew...
"Fine," I gave in, getting up from my natural tanning bed and followed her into the ocean. The water's warm for being the middle of spring. But knowing Karen is in the same waters as me made me want to puke.
"So, bye!" She yelled as she swam to shore. Why the hell did she drag me out here for? I'd soon find my answer.
Someone came up from under me and the next thing I knew I'm on top of Blake's shoulders. Straight, stern shoulders, I might add. I have a thing for those.
"What the hell, Blake!" I started laughing, which is a bad thing to do when you're on a guy's shoulders. I immediately fell into the water and popped up to find Blake laughing his ass off.
"You're cute when you curse." He charmed a smile.
"And you're annoying when you do everything," I snapped back playfully.
"Thanks for the compliment, Rivers."
"So what do you you need now, Blakie?"
"Ah, your finest Avenger, maiden."
"Hulk Smash or Captain America?"
"No, Elizabeth. You."
"I'm quite flattered, but I must decline. I have changed my ways, Blake. Can't go back."
"What if I told you I can help you get revenge on someone?"
"Blake, I told you. I don't do that anymore."
"Fine." He splashed salt water into my eyes. Burning tears ran down my face as I tried to get out of the water, which didn't work out. Blake pulled me towards himself and tried wiping the tears out but that made it worse.
"Liz, I'm so sorry," he said, laughing.
"Ugh, Blake!" I yelled, pushing him into the water. He popped out still laughing. And choking. We were both a hot mess.
"You're mean," he finally said after he started breathing correctly.
"Not as much as you."
"That's true," he said, giving me a sly smirk. He was crazy, but handsome. It was a good mixture.
