Chapter 30: Prom (Part 1)
Elizabeth's POV
"Zip me up, girlfriend!" Abby boomed happily. I turned around and saw her in the beautiful hot pink dress she picked out weeks ago. It looked even better now.
"Gladly!" I assured proudly. She turned around and I zipped up the zipper in the back quickly. The guys were going to be here any minute, and we hadn't even finished our hair and makeup.
"You're on makeup duty and I'm on hair duty. Go!" Abby clarified as she got behind me to do my hair. She was just doing a simple waterfall braid on me.
As she did my hair, I hurried and did my makeup. I never really wear much, but I went all out and gave myself smokey eyes and red lips. I looked way more sophisticated than I was, but I didn't care. This night was going to be awesome.
"Done! Now do me," Abby ordered. I turned around as she started on her hair, but when she saw me, she stopped. "With all that on, be prepared for Andrew to kiss you," she advised. I chuckled at her comment and started doing her makeup. I gave her a dramatic look with gray eye shadow, winged liner, and maroon lipstick. She looked fiery.
Abby had given herself a elegant braided up-do. She looked graceful and serious.
When we were done, we looked at ourselves in the mirror and started to get overwhelmed. We looked amazing. I couldn't believe we were going to go to Prom. I had been waiting for this moment since the 8th Grade Formal. I always wanted a redo for that nightmare of a night.
Before we started crying, we heard knocking at the front door. We looked at each other in excitement, then ran out of her room and down the steps as quickly as we could without falling. Abby opened the door so fast, it almost hit her in the face.
Andrew and Xavier stood proudly in their tuxedos. They could clean up really well. I liked a man in a suit. Andrew was smiling brightly and had a plastic box in his hand. So did Xavier.
"Wow," Xavier sighed when he saw Abby. She turned bright pink as the guys walked in.
"Your corsage, m'lady," Andrew said as he took my hand. He opened the box, took out the corsage, and put it on gently. I admired the red and white flowers as Xavier gave Abby's corsage to her.
"Is your mom home?" Xavier asked. "I want her to take a picture."
"She's stuck at work, but I have a camera. I'll just time it," she responded as she went into the closet. She pulled out her camera and a stand and started setting it up.
"You look smokin', I mean, beautiful," Andrew said to me as we waited.
"Great rebound," I responded sarcastically.
"I'm sorry I'm an ass. I'm working on it," he apologized.
"You're fine, Andrew."
"I'm fine? Was that a compliment?" He teased.
"Sure. Now put your hands around me. We're taking the picture," I said.
"We have ten seconds! Go!" Abby yelled as she ran to Xavier. We all got in position and the camera took the picture.
"Let me see! I think I blinked," Xavier whined. We all looked at the picture and sighed with relief. It was perfect.
"Well, we got more people to pick up, so let's get rolling!" Xavier announced.

We pulled up to Sophie's house a few minutes after we left mine. The lights were on and I recognized Max's white Jeep parked in the driveway. We all got out and Abby rung the doorbell.
"OMG! You guys look gorgeous!" Samantha squealed when she opened the door. She threw her hands to her face in amazement.
"Don't mess up your makeup!" Sophie called out as she ran to the door carefully. I saw that her heels hurt.
"Come on! We have to go!" I urged as I pulled Samantha out of the house. Max appeared behind Sophie and started kissing her neck. She giggled uncontrollably and the guys looked away.
"We have all night. Just wait," Sophie said to Max when she pulled away. He pecked his lips on her forehead. Max was wearing a basic black and white tuxedo with a red rose in the handkerchief pocket. Sophie wore a matching corsage. They looked so cute together. They made a great couple.
"Angel! Finish changing your tampon and get over here! Max yelled towards the bathroom. The light was on. A second later, Angel came out looking as spiffy as ever. He wore a deep purple tux and his hair was spiked up to the ceiling. His eyes were puffy, though. He had been crying.
"Why are you wearing a purple suit?" Xavier asked Angel.
"It was Cecile's favorite color!" Angel bawled. He coved his face with his hands and started sobbing.
"It's okay, Angel. Let it out," Samantha said as she patted his back. We had all gone inside since they were taking too long.
"You guys are depressing! Let's get this party started!" Xavier yelled.
This night was already becoming a disaster.

As I stepped out the limo and walked toward the gym doors, I felt my heart thump in my chest. With Andrew's hand around my waist, I felt like I was cheating on Blake. But I was angry at him. Did that give me the right to go to prom with an old friend? Was I expecting something to happen with Andrew? I was.
"Is it everything you've dreamed of?" He asked before we walked through the doors. I looked into his sparkling brown eyes and our surroundings disappeared. Something changed inside me. Why did my mind do this? I was so angry with myself. I had been over this multiple times.
I was over Nick. Andrew was my friend. I was happy dating Blake.
None of this was true. I was lying to myself.
I still had feelings for Nick. Andrew was more than a friend. I wasn't happy dating Blake.
"I-I need some fresh air," I said to Andrew as I pulled away. He almost fell since he was leaning on me, but he got his balance back.
"This is the freshest air you'll get. We're still outside," he pointed out.
"I'm just going to take a walk," I mumbled as I walked away from him and the group. No one else noticed I was walking away.
"What's going on, Elizabeth? You haven't really said anything to me," he said as he struggled to follow me. His crutches were slowing him down.
"Nothing. I've just got a few things in my mind. I'm fine," I responded.
"I've know when you're not fine. Is this because of Blake?"
"Part of it, yes. I'm just confused." I started to walk a little faster to lose him. I really had to be by myself for a moment.
"Can I help you?" He asked.
"I don't think you can, Andrew."
Then I heard his crutches fall to the ground.
I looked back and he had dropped his crutches on purpose. He was standing on one foot and his cast was up in the air. He had a worried and sympathetic look on his face. He started to hop towards me.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled as I ran to him to make sure he wouldn't fall. I grabbed his shoulders tight and he leaned on me for support.
"Let me make you less confused," he said before he grabbed my face passionately and leaned down to kiss me. His lips were soft and loving as we kissed. I felt a moment of complete peace and security with him. It was a new feeling. A real feeling.
"I told you, Elizabeth!" Abby called out as we kissed. I jumped and almost made Andrew fall over. I scurried and picked up his crutches from the ground and gave them to him.
"Thanks," he whispered. Even in the dark, his eyes shined through. They were mesmerizing.
"The party's inside, lovebirds!" Sophie said as the group walked inside.
"Did I help you?" He asked with a chuckle. I hugged him tightly and leaned my head on his shoulder.
"Yes. Thank you for being here with me."

I sipped the spiked punch Andrew had got for me. Xavier most likely spiked it. People were on the dance floor, dancing with their friends. I was glad to be there, especially with Andrew by my side. His presence made me feel safe and loved.
Angel was chugging the punch like there was no tomorrow. He sat across from us, all alone. He had changed so much since Cici left. Sometimes I wished she would just come back to see him. He had nothing without her.
Abby, Xavier, Sophie, and Max all danced together on the dance floor. The guys casually tried to make out with the girls, but all they wanted to do was dance.
Karenella followed Nick wherever he went. He had come by himself since Joey stayed home. She was embarrassed.
And Andrew, he kept staring at me with his beautiful brown eyes. It took everything I had not to stare back at him like a stalker.
His hands were wrapped around my waist and his chin rested on my shoulder from behind. I could feel his warm breath on my ear.
And then it happened. A slow song started to play.
"May I have this dance?" He asked softly in my ear. His deep voice made me shutter. I smiled and nodded yes, but I was concerned how he could dance with crutches. But I stood up and helped him up to stand.
Andrew only took one of his crutches with him. He used it on his bad side. He held my waist with his right hand and leaned in close. As the song played, we swayed left and right, not wanting to move so much.
Andrew's eyes were still on me, so I looked back. It was happening again. Everything was gone: his injury, the people, the prom. It was only him and me. I leaned I even closer to kiss him for the second time that night, but something caught my eye. Something in purple.
I looked past Andrew and saw a person I thought I wouldn't see again.
Cecile.

I hoped you liked this chapter! I'm sorry it has been long, but writers block got the best of me. I'm good now, though. Be ready for part two!
