Chapter 1: In The Beginning Pranks Gave Me Blake

|Four years later: Senior year of high school|

Elizabeth's POV

"Look at what Jackson got me!" Abigail squealed. She held up her right arm to show us a charm bracelet with a dangling heart charm on it. Cecile and I sighed and looked at each other before I began to speak.

"You know he's a player, right? He's just trying to get in your pants, I mean, under your skirt," I said, taking into consideration that she was in her cheerleader uniform. Jackson Jones has been with 17 girls, that we know of, this past school year. He was a jerk with a capital 'J.' He'd woo a poor, innocent girl and make them fall in love with him just to get some action. It's a terrible thing to do to a teenage girl. Abby knew this and so did everyone else, but that cocky basketball player knew just how to make a girl melt like a chocolate bar on a sunny day. Thank God I never fell for that guy.

"You're just jealous because you don't have a boyfriend, Lizzy," she recounted, admiring the charm bracelet. "By the way, Cici, you should talk to Angel. He's dying over there," she commented, jerking her head at Angel Smith. He had beautiful hazel eyes and a great sense of humor. Some girls liked him here and there, but he only had feelings for one person, and that was Cici. They were the perfect match, but Cici always pretended she didn't care for him, even though she did.

"Ew, him? I wouldn't dare. I swear I will never marry a person with the last name Smith. It's so basic and dull."

"You can't associate all people with the last name 'Smith' to be plain people. That's stereotypical. Just look at John Smith. He's handsome and noble," I stated.

"Yea, just look at him, giving Pocahontas diseases and crap. And that's not even his real name anyway," Cici said stated proudly. She lived to be correct. "And there isn't even a damn picture of him I bet. You're referring to the stupid animated one. He's not real," she explained, straining the last three words. She could be a pain sometimes.

"Don't you dare insult Disney animated movies like that. Who are you? And that was another guy who gave her the disease, Cecile," I told her. She knew how much I liked those movies. Hearing that from her hurt me a little.

"I don't give a-" The bell had rang, covering up what Cici had said. She could be so bitter at times.

We all gave each other sarcastically mean glares for a moment, then scurried to our classes like everyone else.

At the end of the day while I was getting my backpack out from my locker, Blake Moore slammed his hands on the two lockers next to mine, caging me in so all I could do was face my locker or face him. So I turned to face him. He looked around to see if anyone was around, but the students were all leaving.

"I need your brains, Rivers," he said in a deep voice. He made my stomach flutter even though that was the worst sentence ever said by anyone ever.

"So you're a zombie?" I asked sarcastically. He gave me a charming smile. I always thought Blake was attractive, but he had never been this close to me. It was kind of scary.

"Look, you're smart, so, help me with this prank. No need to thank me," he said. He grabbed a packet out of his green and black backpack and held it right in front of me, urging me to take it. I was so confused.

"What's this?" I looked at him. He was biting his lip like he was studying me.

"It's my homework. Do it. Give it back. Then we'll start planning the prank when we get back from Spring Break," he ordered.

"Blake, I'm not going to be getting involved in your fire alarm schemes. Also, I don't do homework for other people," I said, raising my voice. Blake was a trouble maker and was against school. He always messed with the teachers by taping an air horn to their seats or setting up a bucket of paint to be poured on them when they opened the classroom door. He had never gotten caught, though. Other people got in trouble because he would set them up. It was evil, and I wasn't about to get myself tangled in this mess of his.

"I don't have time for this, babe." I could feel myself blushing. "And who needs this boring school anyway? The teachers are always telling us to manage our stress by breathing and shit when homework is the reason I'm stressed. 'Bitch, don't you see me breathing?' Apparently I'm dead, Liz. Dead. That's why I gotta get back at them," he admitted, pushing his homework onto my chest.

"I'm sorry you're dead, Blake, but I need to go. Cici and Sophie are waiting for me in car." I tried to push him off of me, but that didn't work so well. So I tried ducking under his arms, but he grabbed me by the waist before I could get away.

"Come on, Liz. It'll be fun, you and me," he whispered, hugging his arms around me. The way he said it made my legs feel like jello. I think he actually held me up from falling.

"No, Blake," I said, pushing myself out of the security of his strong and built arms. Honestly, no guy had ever hugged me since Andrew Russel during our eight grade formal. That night was terrible, but Andrew made things better.

"Suite yourself, Rivers. I'll find another brain to get," he said as he walked to the school exit while pounding on every other locker. I wondered why guys did that.

"Yea, but mine's the best in town, Moore!" I yelled down the hallway. I saw a small smirk appear on his face. It was kind of cute.

"Where the heck were you?" Sophie asked when I opened my car door.

"Blake Moore wanted to talk for a minute. Sorry," I murmured as I got into the driver's seat.

"Why? Is he trying to pull another prank? Cause I'm president of the student body and I can do something about it, you know," she explained as I start driving. She was so proud of herself of being president. It was great of us, too. More girl's bathrooms.

"No, it's fine. He just wanted me to help him with something stupid," I said as I drove off the school property.

"Oh, hey, Lizzy. Didn't see you there," Cici said rudely without looking up. She was texting someone on her phone, so she had the outside world half tuned out.

"Who ya texting there, Cecile?" Sophie teased. She shouldn't had done that; everyone knows you can't mess with Cici. She gets very angry and defensive.

"Myself. Now, keep talking about this Blake character so you don't bother me," she snapped back. I hated when she was rudely blunt. It was like she was always PMSing.

"Damn, Cecile. Someone's being a brat. Gimme your phone!" Sophie stated. She twisted in her seat and reached for Cici's phone. Cici had a good grip, but Sophie won. She giggled and looked through her phone as Cici tried to get it back.

"You were texting Angel! Do you like him or not?!" Sophie asked her when she gave the phone back to her.

"I hate his hideous face. He's a freaking jerk!"

"Sounds like you're the jerk," I chimed in proudly.

"Shut up and pay attention to the stupid road."

Honestly, I didn't know why I was still friends with her. I hated her blunt manner and how she was always so negative about things. We met in third grade, but I think nine years was a bit much.

"You're so stuck-up, Cecile," Sophie snapped back. Sophie finally had my back for once. Abby was usually the one who supported me, but I guess Sophie had changed a bit.

"Anyway, what are you girls doing for spring break?" I asked.

"I'm going to a 1D concert this weekend with Kathy and Maya. After that, I have no idea," Sophie responded.

"Same, except for the 1D concert. I'm probably going to focus on getting ready for college since I'm moving to New York City," I admitted.

"It'll be nice without you," Cici blurted out. We ignored her and continued talking until arrived at the mall.

"We're here, gals!" I announced as I parked the car. The mall was the place where everyone hung out after school. We were going to be meeting Samantha and Abby there.

"I'm so hungry! I hope the Novela doesn't ruin my appetite," Sophie exclaimed.

Oh, the Novela. They came here after school, too.
