Author's Note
A few months ago, a couple of lovely friends got me on Wattpad, who will be mentioned in the acknowledgements. I started to read stories at first, but I have always been frustrated about the same kind of stories getting millions of reads. It was like reading everything over again, just with new names and a slightly different situation. I'm not saying that I hate cliche stories, but I wanted to see a little variation.
So I started with the first chapter of IHCS: In The Beginning, Pranks Gave Me Blake. A minor mistake I made was turning my friends into the characters in my story, but by the end, that didn't matter anymore. Anyway, I was so excited that my friends would read and comment on what they liked, so I continued, until I got writers block. I now realize that I get writers block after an eventful chapter. I never knew how IHCS would end; I never had a plan. So writing this story was as new and surprising to me as it was to you.
When I hit writers block, I started to feel like writing was a job, and that I had to keep writing for my friends instead of for me. I wanted to have a schedule, but I honestly couldn't with school and my lack of ideas. The chapters just came when I found out what should happen next. This wasn't good to get my book noticed, but I had to write for myself. You should write because it makes you happy and excited, not to get more reads and votes. #WriteForYou
Once I hit the prom chapters, I was so excited to finish the story. I had a clear idea of how I wanted the story to end when I started writing part two. This was the most exciting and fun time I had writing.
I have to admit, I thought I would never finish the story, but I'm glad I did. IHCS brought up themes I didn't even know it brought up until I finished the epilogue. It deals will bullying, depression, unhealthy relationships, suicide, etc. I feel like Elizabeth was the best person to tell this story from because she put others before herself. This ended up 'exploding in her face,' but she really cared for her friends and she'd do anything for them.
One thing you should get from IHCS is don't ignore your problems. It will snowball and take you with it. The story might have exaggerated by having Blake murder his father, but these things happen every day, believe it or not.
I'm glad you are here now, reading this rant. Hopefully you read the story. If not, you're probably very confused right now. Anyway, I'd like to thank everyone who has supported this story. I can't explain how thankful I am to have a wonderful reading audience.
I'll be having a Q&A about the story once I get enough questions, so feel free to ask them in the comments.
Thank you all so much! Please stay tuned for the acknowledgments and Q&A!
Until next time,
-NatLuzRiv <3
