Similarities and Synchronization
"Have you ever noticed that we're kind of... synced?" Vitae asked one day. Mortem looked at him sideways.
"You're gonna have to be more specific," he replied. Vitae sighed.
"Like... our emotions," he said. "They're... linked, sort of." Death frowned.
"Sort of," he admitted. "You seem to forget I don't possess emotions." Vitae rolled his eyes.
"I find that difficult to believe," he drawled. "If you had no emotions, you would have sent me away by now." Death rolled his eyes, deciding not to go down this path again. They'd be discussing this all afternoon otherwise.
"You do seem to have a habit of reading my mind," he admitted, swinging the conversation back to their 'synced energies.' Vitae hummed thoughtfully.
"I do, don't I?" He asked. "I suppose it's only fair, you do the same to me." Death snorted.
"I do not!" Even as he spoke, he knew it was a lie. He's lost count of how many times he's finished Vitae's sentences for him, and vice versa.
"I suppose we do have a bit of a mind meld," Vitae looked up at the sky. "Perhaps it comes with being Life and Death? Two being so opposite they're basically one in the same?" Death rolled his eyes.
"You and I could not be more different if we tried, Vitae," he said. The Spirit of Life looked at him.
"I don't know about that," he replied. "We are pretty similar, if you really think about it," Mortem hummed, unconvinced. "No really, look at it this way. We're both equally as old as each other-"
"-Which makes sense, life and death go hand in hand-"
"Both have a natural curiosity," he gave Mortem a death glare (oh the irony) when he opened his mouth to object. "Don't give me that look, I've seen you study the way life works around me." Death flushed violently. He hadn't been that obvious, had he?
"And I've seen you study the way death works around me," he countered, not one to be taken down so easily. It was only once the triumphant smile crossed Vitae's face that he realized what he'd said.
"See?" He asked. "I told you we were similar." Death sighed fondly and stared up at the sky.
"I suppose we are," he said. "I suppose we are."
(I could put translations, but I trust you know them by now XD)
