margot's personality is actually quite understated and subtle. most people who meet her assume she's just the quiet girl who keeps to herself, and all of margot's dry-humored remarks go over their head. so yes, margot can seem a bit boring at first since she's always been such a responsible and grounded girl, but she's really anything but boring once you take time to get to know her. her sense of humor is not one for everyone. it's almost impossible to tell when she's actually joking since she'll keep a completely straight face with a sarcastic/teasing quip. plenty of her humor is misunderstood by the people around her. now, margot is a level-headed girl. she's never been one to rush into adventure, rather she just goes with the flow. she's never been one to argue much, even though she has rather strong opinions. a lot of the times, she'll just keep to herself and take the path of least resistance. she only really opens up to those she grows to like and/or trust.

but as you slowly get to know margot and she starts to get comfortable around someone, she opens up into so much more than the quiet, sarcastic girl. margot can actually be quite sweet and goofy when she's with the people she loves/trusts. she has a beautiful smile and a soft laugh that comes out when she's truly in a good mood. depending on her mood, margot can actually become quite the playful tease. you wouldn't expect this from her if all you knew was her quiet side, but it's definitely there. i know it's cliche to create an oc with layers, but that's just how margot is. the more she knows you, the more she loosens up and shows a sweeter, more carefree side of herself.

this personality was quite confusing so i'll end it with a quick summary of my points ⇨ margot is usually reserved and quiet, but she's so much more than that. she's simply a girl with a slight shell, but once that's gone she's compassionate and lively.

margot grew up in a rather simply family. her mother and father, diana and robert hanover, were of the lower-middle class, but they always wanted a better life for their children. margot grew up with four other siblings, herself being directly in the middle. first was her eldest brother: keith (27). then there was her older sister: megan (24). then came margot's two younger sisters, the twins: cindy and julia (16). the gang grew up not having an abundance of wealth, but none of the kids ever minded. they were kids after all, they were more interested in running around the neighborhood playing rather than having expensive clothes. but their parents still wanted a better, wealthier life for their children. keith was the first to get married. he made a name for himself as a doctor, slowly starting to clime the social ladder. and then he married rich, and ever since then, that was the goal. their parents not-so-subtly encouraged all their children to continue climbing. so megan eventually did the same, marrying off. but yet margot never had any interest in climbing to the top of society and marrying wealthy. she'd rather read a good book or be studying. but, that just wasn't in the cards for her, she assumed. it didn't take long after her nineteenth birthday, that her parents arranged for her to become a lady in waiting for a noble in the next town over. margot wasn't wild about the idea, but she agreed to it. the rest is history. she's been serving the lady of the house ever since. it's boring work, but it allows margot a slight bit of freedom in town and time to study different sciences, and mostly astronomy. it's a simple and boring backstory, but it's margot's.

❝ WHAT SHE WANTS IN A SPOUSE ❞

margot isn't quite sure what she's looking for in a spouse. she's had only a few relationships, and each one was different. what margot really needs is someone who gets her. who understands her quiet sarcastic side, but also can roll with her more outgoing side. she probably needs someone who will bring out that second side of her. someone either funny or sweet enough to get her to grow fond of them and open up. she'll probably either fall for a sweet heart or a charming heartbreaker. two wildly different options that fit margot's complex personality.

running. it's not her favorite
