8: The Swedish Relay (under-editing)

The relay began and the students ran at their full speed. Sakakibara Ren from team one was the one in the lead while the typical girly girl, Minami Mei from team four was left far behind as her teammate groaned in despair.

"Look at our team! You're all useless pieces of shit!"

Seo Tomoya bawled in distress, pointing rudely at each member of team four, one could tell that they were very offended by the enraged gazes they shot at Seo.

Unfortunately, he didn't catch that and continued to brag, "Out of this hopeless team, I'm the only one capable of running properly, I guess you'll have to treat me after I carried this race then,"

Fujii Hiroyuki had enough of him and they ended up bickering, while Kato Kokomi merely stood there and watched, open-mouthed.

"Why don't you say something, Kato-san!?" snapped Fujii realizing Kokomi didn't join in the fight against Seo, "Don't you see that Seo-kun is being extremely rude to us!?"

"Uhh...what are you guys fighting for again?" asked Kokomi innocently. Instead of pretending she was innocent to stay out of trouble, she was just simply airheaded. Sometimes her classmates wondered how could she even get into class A.

"Goddamn it! Kato-san, how can you be so dumb and got in class A!?" questioned Fujii in exasperation.

Araki Teppei sweatdropped at overhearing team four's conflict. On the contrary, he and his teammates worked well together, they were cheering for Torii Hidetoshi – their first leg in the team, who was running passionately, almost surpassing Ren – and Kuroda Kaguya was making sure Torii could hear her in the distance.

"GO!! TORII-KUN! GO! LET'S GOO TEAM TWO!!" she shouted.

Teppei was having a strong urge to film the race, especially with how outstanding Torii looked; he was wearing a helmet during a Swedish relay. Actually, there was something about Torii and helmets as he always found a reason to wear them occasionally.

"Look, Araki-kun!! It's Tanaka-san's turn now!"

With Kaguya's prompt, Teppei snapped back to focus on the relay, and now instead of watching his own teammate passing the baton to Tanaka Sekai, his attention was on Mizuno Ami Peterson from team eight seizing the baton Koyama Natsuhiko passed to her.

'You can do it, Ami' Teppei thought while secretly cheering for her.

The second runners all started to take turns running while team four's Kato Kokomi was still standing there waiting for her teammate to come and pass the baton.

"S-sorry...I'm *pant* so slow..." panted Minami Mei while crawling toward Kokomi and was having a hard attempt to stretch out her arm just to pass the baton.

"Hey, wanna ditch this class and go eat ramen?" asked Kokomi distractingly, still not taking the baton to which Fujii and Seo growled like wild animals.

The first among the second runners to pass the baton was Kihira Kimi due to the gap of times Ren had initially created for her. Nagasawa Juria – team one's third leg -- seized it and quickly sprinted three hundred meters to her crush—Asano Gakushuu.

"Team one's unstoppable..." said Morikawa Mika from team six hopelessly, and her teammates also nodded in agreement.

However, to everyone's surprise, team eight's Mizuno Ami ran with the speed of light surpassing other students and the now exhausted Tanaka Sekai—who was supposed to be the second in place to pass the baton to the third runner. (Teppei was so proud despite his team got overcome by her)

"Go!! Ami-chan!!" cheered Arina Avenira. She and Koyama watched Ami pass the baton to their third leg—Okamoto Akeboshi. He got up from his position and sprinted at full speed.

"Phew, *cough* gotta grab some moist water," said Ami, walking toward the boxes of water bottles Mr. Uchida prepared for them right the moment she just returned from the match, while Arina sweatdropped thinking what was with her and the word 'moist'.

By the time Nagasawa Juria saw Asano Gakushuu's back, it was as if her spirit was charged with a hundred percent battery; from being just two meters away from Akeboshi, she made that into twenty meters apart by dashing as fast as a horse can gallop. Everyone gaped in astonishment.

'Hmm...not bad—this class' thought Mr. Uchida, pouring a water bottle on his body to wash away any remaining vomits.

"Nooooooo!" wailed Akeboshi upon seeing Juria extend the gap between them, while all she cared about was not making Asano wait for too long.

"I'm coming, Asano-kun~!!" cheered Juria while she was only ten meters away from him.

'Seems like we win for sure' Asano thought, half-facing toward Juria's direction. It was boring for him to always win against his classmates; therefore, he wasn't smirking in satisfaction.

"Asano-kun!"

Arina alerted him out of the disappointing state, his eyes followed the voice to where she was standing—six columns away with all the students blocking the view—her tiny face was popping out from behind their shoulders. "Good luck! I'm looking forward to your ability!!"

'Haven't they told you I'm a prodigy in all aspects?' Asano arrogantly thought. And as though he was contradicting himself, he flashed a modest smile to her.

"Thank you, let's have a fair match together,"

"Um!"

She gave him an okay gesture in return for his response, looking very enthusiastic.

And then finally, Nagasawa Juria reached Asano and handed out the baton, purposely initiating skin contact by brushing her hand against his.

"With my presence, we'll win for sure," said Asano charismatically, seizing the baton, and Juria fell under his spell.

"Y-yes..." she gibbered, blushing heavily, and watching him sprint away four times faster than an average student.

'Oh! He's good' thought Arina in excitement, while the girls in her class squealed in admiration.

"KYAAAA~!! ASANO-KUN~!!"

They started pushing and shoving people out of their way just to get a glimpse of the prestigious Asano Gakushuu running. And in the mid of chaos, there was still Kato Kokomi standing there, having no idea what was going on.

Her teammate—Fujii Hiroyuki was having a hard time running at his full energy as he was struggling to keep his spirit whilst the girls' attention was on no one but their class president.

Seo Tomoya was waiting impatiently at the starting lines for the final runners to which he fumed by seeing members of other teams already passed the baton to the fellow waiters, while Fujii was still only five meters away from the starting line of the third runners.

"HURRY UP!! YOU D*CKHEAD!!" he shouted, stomping his foot aggressively.

"Uh, uh...peasant!"

Seo recognized the voice and looked over four columns to his left; Arina was waving her index finger, demonstrating a forbidding gesture.

"Be patient, Seo!"

Again, another recognizable voice was heard, Seo then turned his head to the right to see Teppei standing next to where Asano just left, hands on his hip and smiling.

Accordingly, his gaze went to check on their teammates' position; Okamoto Akeboshi was almost there to pass the baton to Arina and Kuroda Kaguya was only thirty meters away from their spot.

"Hmpf!! No one understands my situation!!" Seo snapped in bitterness.

"Go, go!! Okamoto-kun!" Arina cheered him, completely ignoring Seo's complaint to which he popped a vein.

"Call me Akeboshi!!" he yelled back. "And I'm comi—"

'CRASH!'

His classmates, including Arina, flinched at the sudden collision of Akeboshi and the ground. He tripped and hit his nose so hard that it started bleeding. He stood up and they noticed there was something slightly off—his face, it was rather...green.

'Oh no...' thought Ami in disbelief. "Maybe I could make up the future..." she murmured guiltily.

"BWAHAHAHAHA!!" Seo laughed uncontrollably, receiving disdainful gazes from his classmates as a result.

"Akeboshi-kun! Keep on passing me the baton!!" commanded Arina while the competitive side took over her.

Taking a step forward, Akeboshi also noticed that something was off; he was feeling very dizzy...

"Come on!" urged Arina, having gone back to her position preparing to seize the baton from him.

He was doing his best to hold back the vomit from escaping his mouth as he continued to run toward her spot.

Despite the incident of Okamoto Akeboshi and his underlings' gasp, Asano maintained a cool head and focused on reaching the finish line; not until he saw the upcoming scene, did his eyes widen in utter shock, as he slowed down his pace to examine the situation.

Across to where he was running, Arina Avenira—drenched in vomit—looked petrified as if her soul had just left her body, clutching the vomit-stained baton in her hand. Seo had never looked that amused ever since he first introduced himself with his Engrish, and Teppei was trying to calm her down by helping her take off the track jacket. Other runners also halted their pace due to the incident, taking their minds momentarily away from the relay, and Akeboshi was lying lifeless on the ground. Among the shocked observers, Ami was kneeling and praying for some matter.

Mr. Uchida was called out by Teppei from what Asano was witnessing. He and the P.E teacher was discussing something while having Arina by his side. Even without hearing, he could see that Teppei was asking for permission if Arina could leave the track field and go wash herself.

And before Asano stopped running completely due to the cancellation of the relay, there came the most fascinated scene; Arina, although still covered in Akeboshi's vomit, ignored them, returned to the running track and...

Not only the crowd of students who were dazed in utter amazement, even the almighty Asano Gakushuu—who was relatively difficult to be persuaded by others' capability—was mouth-opened by her inhumane speed.

He immediately got back on his track and maintained a brisk pace, purposely outdistancing her even more.

"Well, I guess we shall get back on track then!" announced Teppei to everyone.

"HURRY UP!! PANSY!!" exclaimed Seo in extreme exasperation.

Even though Arina had just begun her turn, she surpassed every fourth runner and almost caught up with Asano Gakushuu. Instead of getting panicked, he was rather feeling thrilled by how someone had finally had the potential to beat him in a running race, he now understood why she was so excited for P.E class.

"Arina is looking badass," said Kuroda Kaguya, talking to her fellow K squad members after completing her task of passing the baton to her teammate, Teppei, "only if there isn't any vomit stained on her..."

"It's a lovely color...isn't it...?" said Kokomi, looking as though she was high, "like...orange and pink...it's perfect for my wallpaper."

Kimi and Kaguya slapped their heads in hopelessness.

Seo Tomoya was now officially the last remaining to wait for his teammate to pass him the baton. He had finally lost his sanity as Fujii kept on pausing to catch his breath due to his poor stamina.

"GODDAMNIT, FUJII! THROW THE F*CKING BATON HERE!!"

Hearing so, Fujii extracted his maximum arm strength and launched the baton to which Seo successfully caught it.

"Hey!! That's cheati—"

Unfortunately for Torii Hidetoshi to stand nearby and was violently knocked out by the now mentally deranged Seo Tomoya. Luckily his helmet saved him from a possible collision, bouncing back a little from the ground.

The students were startled by his nasty behavior as they turned to Mr. Uchida as though they were expecting him to ban Seo from the relay. Conversely, Mr. Uchida burst out laughter and called Seo a 'warrior' to their unfathomableness.

While he was only fifty meters away from the finish line, Asano swiveled his head back to check on any possible opponents. From merely ten meters away, the vomit-covered Arina was looking rather fierce as she gradually caught up to him. Asano finally got a panic feeling in his chest, but it was exciting, indeed.

From behind her, surprisingly, was Seo Tomoya despite the disadvantages his teammates caused. He had no mercy for anyone even girls as he aggressively swept out the poor Morikawa, sending her flying out of the running track with the force of a charging bull.

"SEO!!" yelled Teppei, hastily shortening their distance. Seo was in an unstable state of mind as he purposely swept his friend out also. Luckily Teppei sensed and dodged it.

'Almost there' thought Arina while she almost caught up to Asano Gakushuu. She hadn't run out of breath at all and was still in good physical condition.

Asano had his eyes widened when she finally caught up and ran next to him. He suddenly had a flashback to when Arina dashed out of the class and abruptly disappeared only seconds after. Everything made so much sense to him now.

They were only twenty meters away from the finish line as their teammates cheered from the sidelines.

"GO!! GO!! TEAM EIGHT!! GO!!"

"GO! ASANO-KUN!! GO!!"

"OUR LEADER CAN'T LOSE TO THAT GIRL!!"

"HIYAA!! GO! GO! SEOOOO!!"

Team four immediately received a harsh 'boo' from the crowd, except for Mr. Uchida throwing his fists in the air and joining the team four's members to cheer for Seo Tomoya.

"It's improper for a teacher to favor one side!!" said Torii bitterly, demanding justice while Fujii let out a derisive snort. Others nodded in agreement and soon regretted their action as Mr. Uchida ripped his T-shirt to threaten them with the rest of the scars he possessed.

"Uchida-sensei, you're so cool!" complimented Fujii Hiroyuki.

Ever since Arina caught up to Asano, there hadn't been a sign either of them was falling behind one another as their teammates gingerly watched the race with a fierce tensity.

Ten meters away, five meters away, and finally only one meter left away from the finish line, yet they still hadn't surpassed each other for merely a pace.

"Oh! Come on! Don't tell me this is going to be a tie!" whined Juria from team one.

"I don't think so," said Kimi, gawking at the now fallen Arina Avenira.

Just one more meter, and as if God was not on her side, drops of vomit streamed down the ground as she accidentally stepped in and stumbled over.

"Oh no," said Ren, as his teammate, Asano, crossed the finish line with triumphant shrieks from Kimi and mainly Juria.

"Nooooooooooo!!"

Ami nearly had her heart exploded watching their possible victory against the unbeatable Asano Gakushuu tripped away from her hand. Kneeling and punching the ground, she cried in bitterness.

However, as soon as Arina fell, she got back up immediately and reached the finish line.

"Great job, I hope we'll be able to compete for more in the future. Fair and square," said Asano, he was showing her his first-ever genuine smile. There was a bit of guilt he felt for not being able to win a righteous victory, but that didn't matter since now that he discovered her talent, they will have plenty of races against each other ahead.

"Um! Of course Asano-kun, and oh my word! I gotta go take a shower!" said Arina brightly, chuckling at her state.

"Off you go," said Asano, smiling gently.

The Swedish relay ended with team one claiming the first place, team eight (very surprisingly!) claiming the second, and team four with their last-minute ace, Seo Tomoya, taking the third place.

"Arina is a monster! She started the race late, drenched in vomit, and still able to win second place for her team!" Kimi stated, which triggered Juria.

"She's lucky this time," said Juria, crossing her arms.

"How so?"

"They got distracted from the incident!" replied Juria, rolling her eyes. "Or else she wouldn't stand her chance!"

"Didn't you pay any attention to her abnormal speed!?" Kimi reasonably argued back.

"Now, now! Ladies, calm down, at least we won, that's all that matter," Ren jumped in from nowhere which eased the tension between the girls. Asano also approached as they instantly forgot their previous conversation and huddled around, showering him with compliments.

Team two's Araki Teppei got back to his team after claiming fourth place. His teammates were very accepting and congratulated him also.

"Good job, Araki-kun!" said Kaguya enthusiastically.

"Thank you!"

"At least we finished in fourth place," said Tanaka. "But actually, I don't really care about ranks."

"Same same," Kaguya agreed. "Though, there's one person who's crying over it,"

They looked over to team eight's spot. Mizuno Ami Peterson was weeping on the ground, Koyama Natsuhiko was letting out a 'nishishishi' laugh, and Okamoto Akeboshi had already run to a toilet nearby to let out the other half, while the other half was cleaned up by the janitor; he was known to develop a phobia about Akeboshi.

"What a weird team," said Kaguya, whilst Teppei ignored her and was attracted by the sight of Ami weeping childishly.

"Yeah, I feel lucky to not be on their team," Tanaka said honestly.

"And I'd rather be on their team than with that guy!!" pointed Torii at team four, the girls then followed their gazes to whom he meant.

Seo Tomoya had gotten back to his mentally stable state and was sneering scornfully at every one since he got the praises from Mr. Uchida. He ordered his teammates to treat him to an expensive restaurant as a result of his hard work against the other teams' members. As opposed to the start of the relay, his teammates gladly accepted his order.

"Poor Kokomi," murmured Kaguya.

Their first P.E lesson ended in so much bewilderment and after school, Seo Tomoya, Fujii Hiroyuki, Minami Mei, and Kato Kokomi traveled to Tokyo to dine out at the best restaurant in their country (Seo felt like a king for the first time); Torii Hidetoshi threw away his helmet and was determined to purchase a much more hard and durable one for the sake of protecting his head (and to head butt Seo with it too), and Asano Gakushuu had immediately started a training program to break his current record at a running race.
