"A new day to start even more trash," I yawned, waking up in my bed.

I looked out on my balcony that I was sitting on last night. Lucario was amazing.

I quickly got changed into some clothes my mom made. There was a blue jacket covering a black T-Shirt. I wore jeans with red tennis shoes with a black trim. I smiled as I adjusted my red and white hat in the mirror. I looked at my hazel eyes and black-jet hair.

"Ready to go, Pikachu?" I asked, looking at Pikachu's reflection.

"Pika pi!" Pikachu yelled.

"Let's go." I smiled.

Serena's POV.

"Ready to go, Sylveon?" I asked, looking at Sylveon's reflection in the mirror.

"Sylvi!" Sylveon yelled.

"Let's go!" I smiled, dashing outside.

I heard Dad's echo of 'I love you' before I closed the front door. I grinned as I walked on the sidewalk.

I saw Dawn and Gary walking together hand-in-hand.

"Hey, guys!" I yelled, sprinting to catch up to them.

"Hey, Serena!" Dawn smiled. "We have news."

"Dawn and I are a couple," Gary explained.

"Woah, really?" I asked, looking at them. "Congratulations! I'm so proud of you two."

"Thanks, Serena!" Dawn grinned. "Gary and I were laying on a hill looking at the stars when he confessed to me. It was like a movie."

"That's great." I smiled. I thought of Ash for a minute but shook my head. "I can't wait to be a third wheel on dates."

"Ash can do that," Gary chuckled.

"Double date!" Dawn suggested.

"Uh, no," I replied. "I like Ash as a friend, not romantically."

"That's what you'll say now," Dawn giggled.

"Seriously, end of discussion. I don't love him," I argued.

Something hurt me when I said that. It was a sense of regret and guilt. Why? I was saying the honest truth, wasn't I?

"Anyways, we're at school now." Dawn smiled. "Let's go."

We dashed inside the school. Time flew by in the first 4 periods of the day. After this was lunch.

Everyone was sitting at their friend group's table. I sat with Ash, Dawn, and Gary.

"Let's play truth or dare!" Dawn suggested.

"Why?" I asked.

"It'll let us spill secrets," Dawn chuckled.

"I guess," Ash shrugged.

"Okay, Gary, truth or dare?" Dawn asked.

"Truth."

"Is it true that you loved someone before me?" Dawn asked.

"I dated this girl named Lillie at my old school, but I'm over here now. She ditched me for this boy named Kiawe," Gary explained.

Everyone at the table looked like they knew exactly what Gary meant, understanding fully. I was one of those people, no doubt about it.

"Serena, truth or dare?" Gary asked.

"Truth."

"Have you loved someone before?"

"I dated this guy named Calem for 4 years at my old school," I explained.

I looked around. Ash looked a little hurt, which surprised me.

"I broke up with him, though. He broke up with me, actually. He got interested in another girl, and I was left alone." I smiled. "It's fine, though, because my dad really helped me recover through that."

"It's great that you have him," Ash replied.

"I tend to sing Shoutout to my Ex a lot whenever I think of Calem. You know, you never stop thinking about your ex's. They still lurk in your brain every once in awhile," I explained.

"I dare you to sing it," Ash chuckled.

"Okay," I replied.

"Wait actually?" Dawn asked.

"Sure, if you sing background vocals, Dawn," I giggled.

"Oh, fine," Dawn sighed.

"Okay then."

Play music now!

"This is a shout out to my ex.
Heard he in love with some other chick.
Yeah yeah, that hurt me, I'll admit.
Forget that boy, I'm over it."

People from other tables started looking at me awkwardly.

"I hope she gettin' better sex,
Hope she ain't fakin' it like I did, babe.
Took four long years to call it quits,
Forget that boy, I'm over it."

Everyone at my table looked at me with a reassuring smile.

"Guess I should say thank you,
For the hate yous and the tattoos,
Oh, baby, I'm cool by the way.
Ain't sure I loved you anyway.
Go 'head, babe, I'mma live my life, my life, yeah."

Dawn started singing background vocals.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
You made my heart break and that made me who I am.
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
Well, I, I'm all the way up,I swear you'll never bring me down!"

Now everyone in the cafeteria was looking at us.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
You made my heart break and that made me who I am!"

Some girls started singing along.

"Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
Well, I'm, I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never, you'll never bring me down."

I left the table and started walking to the middle of the cafeteria. Ash had an impressed look on his face.

"Oh, I deleted all your pics,
Then blocked your number from my phone, mmm.
Yeah yeah, you took all you could get!
But you ain't getting this love no more."

I high-fived a random orange-haired stranger.

"Cause now I'm living so legit!
Even though you broke my heart in two, baby...
But I snapped right back, I'm so brand new, baby.
Boy, read my lips, I'm over you, over you, uh."

"Sing along now!" I yelled. Mostly everyone in the cafeteria started singing with me.

"Guess I should say thank you,
For the "hate yous", and the tattoos,
Oh, baby, I'm cool by the way.
Ain't sure I loved you anyway.
Go 'head, babe, I'mma live my life, my life, yeah."

I started dancing around when I sang, loosening the tension in my muscles.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
You made my heart break and that made me who I am!
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
Well, I'm, I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never bring me down!"

I faced my table. They were singing and clapping along. They were laughing with wide smiles on their faces.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
You made my heart break and that made me who I am!
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
Well, I'm, I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never, you'll never bring me down.
Oooo, oooo, oooo...
You'll never bring me down."

I danced around some more and soon stood on top of an empty table right in the cafeteria's center. Everyone shut up and looked at me. I stared at the ground.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man...
You made my heart break and that made me who I am."

I looked up in one fast movement and changed my energy into a more positive.

"Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!Well, I'm all the way up,I swear you'll never, you'll never bring me down!!!

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
(You're quite the man!)
You made my heart break and that made me who I am!
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
Well, I'm, I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never bring me down!
(You'll never bring me down!)"

The cafeteria was roaring. Staff members came into the cafeteria, wondering what the ruckus was. They all saw me, a new transfer student, dancing on top of a table singing Shoutout to my Ex.

"Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man!
You made my heart break and that made me who I am!
Here's to my ex, hey, look at me now!
(Won't you just look at me now!)
Well, I'm, all the way up, I swear you'll never, you'll never bring me down!"

The crowd started singing 'ooh' along with me. I looked over to Ash, and we quickly made eye contact. He just smiled and winked. I changed my direction and faced the cafeteria doors.

"You'll never bring me down."

The whole cafeteria erupted in applause. I chuckled and went back to my lunch table. We all talked some more, mostly it was everyone shocked by how I could actually sing well. Soon, the bell rang. Next class was the class we all had together, History. No one liked history class, it was so boring, but whatever, we can get through it.I smiled as I left with Ash, Dawn, and Gary at my side.
