Dawn walked up next to me and sat down.

"About Ash, I-"

"Don't talk about it," I interrupted.

"Okay then," Dawn shrugged.

Ash quickly entered the gym afterward. Dawn swooned over him just like the other girls. He rolled his eyes and seemed irritated. At least Ash realized that those girls only cared about him for his looks.

"Why'd he roll his eyes?" Dawn asked.

"He's sick of you swooning," I replied.

"Everybody!" Professor Kukui, the Professor of Pokèmon moves and battling, yelled. "There's a turn of events in this start-of-the-year battle!"

Students looked at Kukui with confusion.

"We'll be doing a Battle Royale!" He explained.

"What's a battle royale?" A boy with short, purple hair asked.

"Four trainers!" Professor Kukui yelled. "They all compete in a 1v1v1v1 battle to see who's the strongest. Each trainer gets three Pokémon to fight with. The winner achieves the trophy for this year's strongest battler."

"Who are the trainers?" The purple-haired boy replied.

"Four papers!" Professor Kukui repeated. "I will unfold all of them once no one else has questions."

"What's the highest GPA this year?" I asked, wanting to break his 'four' streak.

"4!" Kukui laughed.

"Seriously," I mumbled. "Who has a 4.0 GPA at this school?"

"It's your GPA, I thought you'd know that," Kukui replied.

"Oh?" I asked, shocked. "That question totally double backfired on me."

"Alright, the first trainer is..." Professor Kukui started. "Gary."

"Awesome!" The boy yelled, taking off his lab coat and running down to the gym.

He was wearing a gray T-Shirt and shorts. The girls once again swooned over a hot boy. I didn't, though. This school is annoying.

"The second trainer is Nathan!" Kukui yelled.

"Hell yeah!" Nathan cheered, dashing down the bleachers.

"The third trainer is Paul!"

"Yesss! That's my biggest crush in the school," Dawn whispered to me.

"You like him the most?" I asked.

"I like ten in total."

"Oh, okay," I chuckled.

"And finally, number four, Ash! He's a transfer student."

The caramel-eyed boy left his seat. Smiling, he stood in the red flag of the gym. Paul stood under the blue flag, Gary green, Nathan yellow. I haven't seen Paul or Nathan yet, let's see how they battle.

"Alright everyone, bring out your Pokémon!" Kukui yelled.

Nathan sent out an Absol, Ash Greninja, Paul Electivire, and Gary Umbreon.

"Battle begin!"

Everyone yelled out commands, but Ash sat completely still, focusing closely on all the Pokémon.

"Discharge!"

"Shadow Ball!"

"Night Slash!"

All of the moves targeted at other Pokémon than Ash, except the discharge. What he didn't realize is the Pokémon would start to rapid fire. All of the moves soon fired at Ash's Greninja. He stood still. The moves came closer and closer.

"Dude, are you going to do anything?" Paul asked.

Ash only nodded. The moves were only three yards away when Ash said, "Dodge."

Greninja disappeared out of nowhere. Soon, Greninja appeared behind Gary's Umbreon."H-how?" Gary asked.

Ash only smirked as Greninja used Water Shuriken on Gary's Umbreon, knocking it out in one shot.

"Gary's Umbreon has fainted. Who will you send out next?" Kukui asked.

The crowd around us all mumbled shockingly, saying things about how badass Ash was, etc. I was glued to Nathan's shocked, dumbfounded face, though.

"How are we supposed to face someone unstoppable?" Nathan asked.

"No clue," Paul shivered. "You distract him, and I'll kill him."

"Switch the roles," Nathan growled.

"Fine."

"Go, Blastoise!" Gary yelled.

"I'm going to switch to Pikachu," Ash announced, returning Greninja.

Ash's Pikachu leaped off his shoulder and joined the battlefield.

"Battle begin!"

"Electivire, thunder on Pikachu!"

"Pikachu, let thunder hit you!" Ash yelled.

Why would Ash let thunder hit Pikachu? Oh, wait! Pikachu's an electric type so electric moves like thunder won't affect him. I forgot!

"Blastoise, hydro pump!" Gary ordered.

"Absol, Night Slash!" Nathan chanted.

All the three colorful moves hit Pikachu, thunder being a distraction to the mouse Pokémon. Pikachu fainted.

"That's not fair, come on guys, I'm new," Ash said, picking up Pikachu.

"Fine," Paul groaned.

"That wasn't fair," I growled, looking at the battle. "They totally ganged up on Ash."

"That's what I was thinking," Dawn sighed.

"Now, go, Charizard!" Ash yelled.

The intense battle of flames, waterfalls, earthquakes, and thunderstorms lasted for a good while. Soon, Gary was eliminated from the battlefield. Next, Paul got eliminated.

It was just Nathan and Ash left. Ash had one Pokémon, Greninja, and Nathan had his, Absol. Nathan switched out earlier in the battle to save room for his dark Pokémon.

Ash's POV.

Nathan, Nathan, Nathan. What surprises do you have awaiting me? Everyone's staring at us. Everyone's waiting for you to make the first move. Greninja and Absol were circling around the battlefield, waiting for the first one to attack.

"Night Slash!" Nathan ordered.

Finally.

"Dodge and use water shuriken!" I called.

Greninja did as instructed. Absol was sent back a few yards but kept its ground.

Serena's POV.

I watched the intense battle between Ash and Nathan. It was an equal game, Greninja was still a little worked up from the first round.

"Absol, mega evolve!" Nathan yelled.

Radiating energy surrounded Absol. The evolution formation started, and soon, Absol was Mega Absol. Its appearance became altered a bit.

"Should've used...." Ash mumbled.

I couldn't make out the Pokémon's name be mumbled under his breath.

"Flash again!" Nathan ordered.

"Greninja, look away!" Ash commanded.

"Now, Night Slash!" Nathan yelled.

"Dodge to the right!" Ash called.

Greninja, confused with the battle tactics Ash was calling out, didn't move fast enough. Mega Absol's speed was too great.

Night Slash hit Greninja hard. Although it wasn't super effective, Absol was stacked with stats now that it was in its mega form. Greninja started to feel weak.

"Greninja, Water shuriken!" Ash yelled.

"Absol, cut it with Night Slash, then use thunderbolt!" Nathan yelled.

Ash, shocked at the fact that Nathan had thunderbolt, was too slow to react to Absol's move. It was a direct hit, and Greninja fainted.

"Greninja's fainted, which means the winner is Nathan!" Professor Kukui yelled.

"Good battle." Ash smiled, shaking Nathan's hand.

Nathan smiled back. "Anytime."

"Congratulations, Nathan."
