Ash's POV.

"This is going to be so much fun," I said once I opened my house's front door to let Gary in.

He and I were going to have a sleepover that the girls totally copied, but whatever.

"Right? We can show each other all our Pokèmon," Gary chuckled. "And maybe our girls."

"Ugh, for the last time, I don't like Serena," I sighed.

"Please, you literally defended her with your life," Gary chuckled.

"That's because she's my friend!" I yelled.

"You seemed a little lost for words first," Gary giggled. "Dude, it's obvious, just admit it."

"I don't like her!" I shouted.

"Like who?" Mom asked, as she made her way through the kitchen.

We walked into the kitchen to accompany her. She was busy doing the dishes and loading the dishwasher.

"He's teasing me about this girl named Serena. I don't even love her," I groaned. "He's been doing it since the day I've talked about her."

"Why don't you invite her over?" Mom asked.

"Because she's been through a lot recently, and she's needed space," I explained. "And by the way, she doesn't like me either, so stop it."

"How do you know that?" Gary asked.

"If she does, I'm not becoming her boyfriend," I lied.

Of course I would. Of course that's the only reason why I stood up to defend her.

"Whatever, let's go upstairs, I want to show you my new Pokèmon," Gary announced.

"Okay," I nodded. "Bye, Mom!"

"Bye Ash," She chuckled.

We dashed upstairs into my bedroom. The balcony stood out to me as I could see Serena's house from it. I chuckled. She had a balcony in her room, too.

"Want me to be honest with you?" I asked.

Gary looked at me intrigued. "Yes?"

"I like Serena, and it's obvious," I chuckled.

"I knew it!" Gary yelled.

"Look, I-"

"Sing a song that defines her now," Gary ordered.

"Why? We aren't living High School Musical," I groaned.

"Dawn and I love the movie. Just do it! I want my fantasies to come to life," Gary chuckled.

"Ugh that's such an excuse to make the-"

"Shhh," Gary whispered. "You can't break the storyline."

"Storyline of lifeeeee," I teasingly sang. "Okay whatever. I'll sing There's Nothing Holding me Back."

"Yes!" Gary cheered.

I got my guitar out from behind my lamp.

"Okay," I took a deep breath. "Here it goes."

"I wanna follow where she goes,
I think about her and she knows it.
I wanna let her take control,
'Cause everytime that she gets close, yeah."

Gary smiled at me. "Wish I had a good singing voice."

I tried not to laugh.

"She pulls me in enough to keep me guessing.
And maybe I should stop and start confessing...
Confessing, yeah!"

I grinned when I sang this next part and thought about Serena.

"Oh, I've been shaking,
I love it when you go crazy,
You take all my inhibitions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back!

"You take me places that tear up my reputation,
Manipulate my decisions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back."

"Slay dude," Gary chuckled. "I'm trying to act cool, but I'm failing miserably."

"There's nothing holding me back."

"Relatable," I giggled when I played my guitar.

"There's nothing holding me back.

"She says that she's never afraid,
Just picture everybody naked."

"Does she really?" Gary asked.

"She really doesn't like to wait,
Not really into hesitation."

"Of course..."

"Pulls me in enough to keep me guessing, mmm."

"...not," I answered.

"And maybe I should stop and start confessing...
Confessing, yeah!"

"Aw," Gary wined.

"Oh, I've been shaking,
I love it when you go crazy,
You take all my inhibitions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back!

You take me places that tear up my reputation,
Manipulate my decisions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back!"

"Why not?" Gary asked.

"Because she's not a pervert like you," I snapped.

"There's nothing holding me back."

"I'm not a pervert," Gary rejected.

"Just admit it," I wined, making an impression of him.

"Cause if we lost our minds and we took it way too far,
I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright...
If you were by my side and we stumbled in the dark,
I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright..."

"Wow," Gary chuckled. "Good singing by the way."

"Cause if we lost our minds and we took it way too far,
But I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright."

"Thanks, stop talking to me and let me sing," I replied.

"If you were by my side and we stumbled in the dark,
I know we'd be alright, I know we would be alright!"

"Fine," Gary chuckled.

"Oh, I've been shaking,
I love it when you go crazy,
You take all my inhibitions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back!

"You take me places that tear up my reputation,
Manipulate my decisions...
Baby, there's nothing holding me back!"

I closed my eyes when I sang and thought of Serena. I think my face might've accidentally went a little pink.

"There's nothing holding me back!

"I feel so free when you're with me, baby...

"Baby, there's nothing holding me back!"

Gary clapped in applause. Next thing I realized, all of his Pokémon were watching me sing my heart out. Pikachu clapped too, he was sitting on my bed in-between Gary and me.

"That was really good. Have you ever thought of making an album?" Gary asked.

"No, and I won't. My dream is to be a Pokémon master, not the male version of Diantha," I replied. "Diantha's music sucks."

"Oh my gosh you agree? I thought I was the only one!" Gary chuckled. "Her stuff does suck! How is she the most popular Kalos actress?"

"I don't know," Ash chuckled. "Probably shouldn't say that to Serena, though, she probably loves her stuff."

"True," Gary laughed.

We kept on talking about our girls, the crazy lockdown, and our Pokémon for the rest of the night. Soon, we accidentally fell asleep sitting on the floor messing with Pokémon Cards.

Thank the lord we have tomorrow off of school.
