CHAPTER 12 || Lockdown

We all walked into fourth period. Right when we got in, we heard an announcement.
"Lockdown. Locks, lights, out of sight. Lockdown. Locks, lights, out of sight. This is not a drill. Lockdown. Locks, lights, out of sight."
Ash, Dawn, Gary, and I were already in fourth period. We couldn't let anybody else in. It's probably Lysandre coming to kill me.
Professor Birch quickly locked the door and turned off the lights, not allowing anybody else in except us four. Birch had to lock the door from the outside, though, so he went with the other students to make sure they had a classroom to stay in.
It was just us four.
"Ash, what's going on here?" I asked.
"Do you think I know?" Ash replied. He seemed just as anxious as I was. "They're coming."
"Who's they?" Dawn asked.
"I don't think he knows that either, baby," Gary responded.
"Aw how cute," I sarcastically said. "Anyways, what's going to happen if they enter? Of course they know how to pick a lock."
"I'll defend us," Ash replied.
He took a deep breath. Soon, his hands formed... an aura sphere.
Ash was the other family! It was the Ketchum family! I smiled and let out a hint of relief. It's good to know the other family wasn't attacking me.
"What? What is that?" Dawn asked, shocked and terrified.
"He's an aura guardian," Gary whispered.
"Ash..." I started.
"Yeah, what?" He asked.
I formed an aura sphere with my hands, and he jumped back with surprise.
"You're the other family?"
"Yeah," I whispered.
"Still, stay back. I take your life over my own."
I nodded. Dad, I hope you're seeing me right now.
I smiled on the fact that I wasn't on the urge to cry. I was happy that I had my friends with me. Dad is gone, that version of myself is over. I'll miss it very much, but I also have to remember that I have a new chapter lying ahead of me. I can't take my friends for granted.
"Ash," I started. "Why do you take my life over yourself?"
He looked at me for a few seconds. He opened his mouth for a second, but didn't say anything. Ash faced the door once again.
"Because you're one of the last aura guardians. You're the last of the real ones," Ash replied.
"You are too," I argued.
We soon heard a little giggle on the doorknob of our door. Everyone soon shut up and remained silent.
"Let me in," A man from the other side of the door growled.
"Go away you orange-haired freak!" I yelled.
"What she said!" Ash chimed.
"Ketchum and Yvonne, eh?" He chuckled. "You know, I know two other people I've killed with those names. William and Riley."
My hands turned into a fist as they mentioned my dad's name, Riley.
"Go to Giratina's lair you jerk!" I screamed.
"You'll pay for killing my father before I was even born, you son of a bitch."
"Oh now we're using big boy words, huh?" He giggled.
He kicked down the door, and smirked at the sight of us.
"Come and get it. Try to beat me, Lysandre, leader of Team Flare."
He pulled out a gun. Ash quickly shot an aura sphere at the weapon.
"Serena, I told you to stay back!" Ash yelled.
"I want to protect you too!" I shouted.
Next thing we knew, the police arrived. Officer Jenny immediately put Lysandre in handcuffs. We put our aura spheres away just before Jenny saw them. We sighed in relief.
"We'll be questioning you later. Write your name on this paper," Officer Jenny announced.
Ash and I signed first.
Ash Ketchum
Serena Yvonne
Next, Dawn and Gary came up.
Gary Oak
Dawn Berlitz
"Thank you." Officer Jenny smiled. "None of you will be in trouble. Lysandre's broken out of jail many times in this decade."
We all nodded, and she left with Lysandre.
"That was crazy," I announced.
"Yeah, I think we should just change the topic and pretend that never happened," Dawn suggested.
"Agreed. Uh, Ash, excited for our sleepover tonight?" Gary asked.
"Of course," Ash replied. "That's going to be so much fun."
"Right?" Gary chuckled.
"We can't come?" I asked, referring to Dawn and me.
"Bros only. Why not you guys meet up and do a sis sleepover?" Ash suggested.
"We can do your house 7-7," Dawn replied.
"Okay." I smiled. "Ash, we can't let that go by lightly though. That guy killed our fathers."
"I know, I'm just glad I demolished that gun. I was sick of that getting more blood stains on it," Ash responded. "Anyways, school's out early because of the lockdown. We can all walk home together if you want."
"Okay!" I cheered. "Sounds fun."
"Let's go!" Ash chuckled, dashing out of fourth period.
When we ran out, I noticed all of the killed students' bodies laying on the ground. Lysandre was on a massacre, he was killing whoever he found. I gulped at the sight of May and Drew's body's lifeless on the ground.
They might've been evil, but no one deserves that.
I sighed as I exited the doors. We probably wouldn't have school tomorrow with all of the destruction Lysandre caused. I could only imagine what'll happen once he gets out of jail. He knows exactly where we live now.
Taking a deep breath, I walked next to Ash. We talked to each other about the fact that we were both aura guardians. Our hands dangled next to each other. We kept on having to move them so they wouldn't touch.
I felt happy and relieved every time I talked with him.
It's true, I wanted to be with him.
Ash's POV.
Serena always calmed me down. I even know that she's freaking out right now, but somehow I feel like nothing even just happened.
It's true, I wanted to be with her.
