A/N: Because I couldn't sleep.

There's something magical about snow.

As I stood beneath the dark sky, staring up at the soft glow of the moon, I couldn't help but wonder if the night could get any more perfect. Perhaps the only improvement would have been if it never had to end.

When Kyoya had suddenly dropped by the house, saying that if I had the day free I should join him, I'd been surprised. The manuscript I'd been editing was due the next morning, and he knew it; so, the idea of being dragged away from my work for entire day bothered me. Still, I hadn't been able to say no. After all, even with as busy as he was, he'd made time to meet with me. It was only fair I give in as well.

The moment we relaxed in his car-- and it truly was his car, I couldn't help thinking about how cool he looked behind the wheel-- I attempted to grill him about the details. Kyoya, in turn, offered an unreadable smile and side-stepped all my questions. By the time we hit the city limits, I was sulking, and Kyoya knew it. The smirk on his lips said it all.

"The game," I decided.

"Hm?"

"We've played it before, we'll play it again," I continued, ignoring the way he furrowed his brow. It was rare for me to bring up that time. "If I guess right, you have to tell me."

"I sincerely doubt--"

"I could get lucky," I grumbled.

Seeming to notice he was fighting a losing war, Kyoya sighed, focusing his gaze on the road. "Very well."

"Some new hospital."

"No."

"A theatre."

"No."

"A date."

His lips twitched. "That's not a location."

"That's not an answer," I retorted.

"Hm... fine. You might consider it one."

I lit up. "Really?"

"Why else would I steal you away?"

Heat filled my cheeks. He had a point there. Still, not willing to admit the oversight, I carefully considered my options. A date somewhere out of town...

"Does your family own it?"

He knitted his brow, as if the question required thought. "Partially."

How do you partially own something? I wondered. Fifty-fifty shares?

Unable to think of something based off that, I shot him a few more half-hearted locations, frowning when he shot down each answer. Eventually, I ended up sulking again, arms crossed over my chest. Kyoya, of course, was far too amused by this, commenting on how it made me resemble Emi.

"She is my twin," I retorted.

He rolled his eyes, obviously not appreciating my wonderful way with sarcasm. When the silence began to grate on me, I leaned forward and turned on the radio.

"--ito! There's no confirmation yet, but rumor says that's only a matter of time."

"That would mean that the only one of those brothers left is the youngest, eh, Yuu?"

"I wouldn't be too sure about that, actually. The rumor mill is churning about him, as well! Reportedly, they visited that shop together. Then there's those stories about H--"

The station switched, some English Christmas song drifting from the speakers. I frowned, studying Kyoya from my sulking position. His expression hadn't changed, but he had a death grip on the steering wheel.

"I wasn't aware you had an interest in English music," I commented.

He glanced at me out of the corner of his eye. "I like all kinds."

Really? I wanted to ask. Usually, you let me choose the station.

Curious, I pulled my phone out. Before I could start scanning gossip sites, however, Kyoya took a hand off the wheel and snatched it away from me.

"Hey!"

Ignoring me, he pointedly dropped my phone into the pocket on the driver's side door. "Confiscated."

"Why?"

His lips twitched upwards.

"Do I need a reason to want all your attention on me?"

Not fair! I wanted to argue. That's foul play, wearing a smirk like.

Still, I didn't argue. Rather, I let out a small huff and went back to sulking. It was perhaps two hours later when we seemed to reach our destination in a small, rural town. My cheeks lit with color when he parked us outside of what appeared to be a small hot springs.

"Here?" I squeaked.

He cocked a brow as he unbuckled, then turned to look at me. "I have to wonder what's going through your mind to create an expression like that."

Face burning, I escaped the car without responding. In turn, Kyoya chuckled quietly, but joined me within minutes. Together, we approached the front door.

"I have a manuscript to turn in--" I started.

"The deadline has been extended," he interrupted.

I blinked a few times, dumbfounded. "Since when? And how would you know wh-- you didn't."

He shrugged.

"Kyoya!"

Struggling to decide what to make about this situation, I changed directions. "Tomorrow--"

"We're only for today," he interrupted once again. "I haven't the time, either."

I bit my bottom lip, considering the situation. It seemed he'd arranged everything... which was honestly very thoughtful of him. Continuing to refuse... well, it was pretty rude of me, wasn't it?

"If it's only today..." I muttered.

The little inn turned out to be a small slice of heaven. Instead of two big baths, or a single mixed, it turned out to be that each room held it's own isolated bath for those who didn't wish to bathe with strangers. Kyoya'd booked two separate rooms, thankfully, and I found myself more relaxed than I'd been in.. well, months. Which was how I ended up staying out in the water until I felt lightheaded. By the time forced myself out, the afternoon had turned to evening, and my stomach was lodging loud complaints against my choices. A quick search of the room revealed a complimentary, silk kimono robe.

I'd just finished tying off the pink ribbon, a stark contrast to the dark-grey, flower covered fabric of the robe, when a knock came at the door that adjoined our rooms. For a moment, I debated ignoring it. The kimono wasn't exactly the most conservative thing I'd ever worn-- ending just above my knees-- but gave in when another knock hit the air. I answered it, and nearly shut it instantly at the sight. Kyoya, too, had chosen to wear the complimentary robe, and it looked positively illegal.

It was utterly impossible that he wasn't aware of it-- seeing as he'd chosen to tie it loosely, therefore leaving the majority of his chest visible to the open air. Unlike mine, however, it hung to just past his knees. While I stared, transfixed, Kyoya smirked.

"I thought you might be hungry."

I snapped my mouth shut as my face burned. I'd have to have been an idiot to miss the double entendre.

"Y-you..."

He walked through the doorway, ignoring my sputtered protests, and sat down at the small table in the main part of the room. Once again, dumbfounded, I watched as he crossed his long legs and plucked the room service menu up to study. When I didn't join him, he glanced over his shoulder, cocking a brow in my direction.

"Problem?"

Not about to embarrass myself further, I shook my head and scurried to join him. A few minutes later we'd settled on food, and Kyoya was phoning the front desk. My attention was pulled away by the window as I realized that the sky had grown dark.

"Is it going to storm...?" I wondered.

"There was a small chance of snow for the area," Kyoya replied.

"Hm..."

As I considered the idea, I could feel Kyoya's eyes studying me. Even when I tore my gaze away from the window, he made no attempt to hide the fact. This, of course, sent another wave of heat to my cheeks.

"What is it?" I asked.

He rested his elbow on the table, dropping his cheek into his palm. His eyes never wavered. It felt as if he was searching for something, and whatever it was he wouldn't be content until he uncovered it.

"My father asked about you."

I knitted my brow. "Your father?"

He nodded in turn. Why would he be asking about me?

"He said I should invite you to a dinner party we'll be holding in a few weeks," Kyoya said after a moment had passed. "Akito will be announcing his engagement."

Surprise surged through me. Kyoya had mentioned his brother was meeting a potential marriage partner... but that'd only been a week ago.

"They decided already?"

"Love at first sight, he claims."

"How lucky," I mused.

Kyoya's eyes seemed to bore into me. It occurred to me, then, that there might be more to the conversation then he was letting on. If I was right, however, remained unseen as he suddenly looked away, a noncommittal hum serving as his only response to my words. The conversation turned trivial after that, then nonexistent when our dinner arrived. When we'd finished eating, I wandered back outside, eyes turned towards the sky. Dark had begun to fall over the beautiful scenery, and even though snowflakes had begun to drift down from the sky, not a single one stuck. It made sense, given the natural heat from the waters.

A soft 'pop' sounded from behind me, and I turned around to find Kyoya with a bottle of champagne, as well as two flutes. Content to leave him to the drinks, I looked back out at the quiet night, marveling over the beauty of the scene. Only seconds after, I heard Kyoya move to join me. Rather than stand beside me, however, he hovered directly behind me. Then, he stepped up, and I contentedly rested my back against his broad chest. Heat filled my cheeks, but I was far too comfortable to let my embarrassment get the better of me.

"Otousan likes you, you know," he said.

I tilted my head back, content with how natural it felt to rest it on his shoulder. Feeling a bit bold, I let a teasing smile appear on my lips. "Only him?"

A flute appeared in front of my eyes. Almost instantly, my gaze zeroed in on the ring floating in the bottom of the glass.

"Hardly."

It really was the perfect night.
