When One Chapter Ends, Another One Begins
Universe: My Hero Academia
Character: Izuku Midoriya
Quirk: (Formerly) OFA, (Currently) Classified
Ship: Izuku x Nejire Hado, Mei Hatsume, and Itsuka Kendo
Description of Idea: It has been about two years since the defeat of All For One and League of Villain's forces. Izuku Midoriya was currently watching his former classmates from the hero course walk onto the stage and receive their diplomas, signifying the completion of their final year of the Heroics Program at UA High School and becoming official pro heroes.
Why wasn't Izuku up on the stage with them despite being responsible for ending the war between the heroes and the League of Villains and finally ending AFO's reign of terror? Simple because, once again, Izuku Midoriya was quirkless.
After the lingering embers of OFA disappeared after the defeat of AFO, Izuku was unfortunately forced to leave the Heroics Program because he no longer possessed a quirk that would allow him to keep up with other students during strenuous exercises and battle simulations. Izuku was extremely close to being kicked out of UA entirely and having to resort to minimum-wage work if it was not for Nezu, who gave the green-haired boy the opportunity to be enrolled in the General Studies program if he managed to get a passing grade on the final exam designed for a first-year General Studies student. Thankfully for Izuku, he always retained the strong study skills that earned him the spot among the top 5 performing students while he was still in the heroics class, so he was able to pass the final exam without any complication. As a result, he was placed in the 2nd year General Studies class. He would be able to graduate from UA alongside his friends from 2-A.
The only problem with that plan was that Izuku could no longer call his old classmates his friends.
Not long after Izuku lost his quirk and was transferred to General Studies, his connection with any of his former classmates seemed to have completely fallen apart. His old classmates started ghosting and ignoring him, completely cutting Izuku out of their lives. Even people he thought were his true friends, like Ochaco and Ida, ignored him and treated him like their bond meant nothing. The stark contrast between his past and present relations with the students of 2-A brought up bad memories for the green-haired boy of his tumultuous years at Aldera Junior High. Izuku feared that his life at UA would soon become just as lonely and demoralizing as at his old middle school. Thankfully, he was proven wrong by a few unexpected sources of support.
First was the ever-energetic and spontaneous Mei Hatsume, who, even after Izuku was transferred to General Studies, still asked Izuku to help her test out her "babies," or inventions, as everyone else called them. Izuku had no issue helping the sporadic yet prodigious support course student out. After all, it is not like he has not taken point-blank explosions while being quirkless before. Izuku would even often suggest improvements to the support gear design after Mei provided him with information on the type of quirk for which the gear was designed. Between his willingness to test her gear without complaining like the hero course students or other support course students and his surprisingly helpful feedback about her gear designs, it quickly became a daily occurrence that Mei would ask Izuku for help in the lab. As one can imagine, all that time together in the support studio soon resulted in them developing a genuine friendship that only became stronger as their time at UA continued.
Second was the class president and big sister of Class 2-B, Itsuka Kendo. Unfortunately, because Izuku was no longer a hero student, he could not utilize any of the training equipment or facilities at the school that were reserved for students of the heroics department. Hence, he often went into the forests surrounding the school to do intense physical training to ensure that he did not return to the same "weak" and "useless" version of himself that he was during his years at Aldera Junior High. Kendo caught Izuku during one of these intense training sessions while looking for a place to practice martial arts since the training room was too crowded.
Itsuka immediately became concerned with how hard Izuku was training and how much physical strain Izuku put on his body during these training sessions. After some convincing, Itsuka learned why Izuku was pushing himself so hard during his training sessions, and while Itsuka did not like the negative mindset behind why Izuku was training, she offered to be his training partner and help him learn some martial arts to help him maintain his self-confidence.
Izuku was surprised by this offer but accepted it nonetheless, but only if he could do something for her. Itsuka insisted to the green-haired boy that he had to do nothing for her. Still, Izuku was persistent, so Itsuka caved in and said that Izuku could help her and her classmates study for exams for general education classes that all students at UA had to take regardless of which specific program they were in. From there, Itsuka and Izuku would often meet to train and practice martial arts together or sometimes study together, which soon led to the two developing a beautiful friendship.
Between his friendships with Mei and Itsuka, Izuku could maintain his lovable, positive attitude and not let the mental woes of not being in the hero course anymore or his former classmates ghosting him destroy his self-confidence. It also helped that his new General Studies classmates treated him like he had been part of their class since the beginning and did not doubt his capabilities to perform well in the General Studies program just because he now lacked a quirk. These new friendships brought hope and optimism to Izuku's new school life.
Now, Izuku was sitting alongside some of his fellow General Studies students in an auditorium, waiting for his turn to walk on stage and collect his diploma. Was Izuku still frustrated and sad that he could not become a pro hero, even after everything he did throughout his early years at the UA? Sure, he was, but compared to how he felt early on during his time in the General Studies program, Izuku was much more optimistic about his future endeavors, perhaps because Izuku knew that, unlike his life before meeting All Might all that time ago, he would have genuine friends that would stick by his side even if he was quirkless
However, Izuku did not know that among the audience at the graduation was a certain periwinkle-haired pro-heroine who was looking to offer him a position as a tactician at her brand-new hero agency. This offer would mark the beginning of an unexpected new chapter in Izuku's life, one that would soon allow Izuku once again to leave his mark on the world of pro-heroes and become a hero who can bring hope to anyone in need.
