Straight as a Rainbow
This book is about a new girl who is forced to move from her old school into another, even move from her home state to one all the way over on the other side of the U.S.A. She has to leave all her friends and family with her Mother alone. When she gets there she stays in the shadows not wanting to be noticed by anyone.
That backfires as a group of girls take interest in her and do their best to become her friend. With this she opens up and welcomes them as they all enjoy each other's friendships. But she become attracted to one of her new made friends, having not telling them her embarrassing secret.
She was gay.
She keep her crush hidden from everyone and try's to remain the same as she had always been. But the more she was around her crush the harder it was to hide her feeling. Being conflicted with opening up about her sexuality and being accepted by her crush, or opening up and being rejected and left behind by everyone she knew. This causes her to spin into depression that would later lead to her secret slipping out.
How will they all react? Will they accept her or reject her all together?
