more or less when I thought of this I was reading "Tommyinnits  clinic for supervillains" and the whole idea is formed around that world/AU/Ao3. (p.s. a really good fanfic and you should all totally check it out, it's by the bonesandthebees, i think that's their name please correct me if i'm wrong).

The Character(MC) at the ripe old age of 16/17 (idk) gets hit by a car in a freak accident and finds themselves in limbo, however there's a train already waiting for them. soon they find out that their power is revival of themselves, being able to revive themselves anywhere at anytime, soon they slip into depression or something and there health plumits because there is no real consequence for dying. soon they run into Phil, Tommy, Wil, Techno (o7), or whoever you want them to be. these people immediately start trying to take care of this person but slowly it's revealed that there (villains, heroes, idk) and the MC get caught up in it using their power to there advantage in fighting rather than an excuse that they don't need to look both ways before crossing the street or something.

Whether or not the MC feels pain when they die is up to you, another power could be that they physically can't die and hate their life (idk trauma).
