A rain of black hats fell as people around me cheered. I clenched my hat to my head, slipping through the crowd like a fish, hoping to avoid the flailing hands and squirming bodies. Someone bumped into me, sending me sprawling to the ground, my glasses leaping off my nose. The group surrounding me laughed. I glared up at the person in front of me, his mop of black hair hanging in his eyes, obscuring his view.
I picked up my glasses, brushed grass off my gown, clicking my tongue distastefully at the dirt stains, before barreling past him, out of the crowd. I sprint down the worn dirt path, my black graduation gown fluttering, trees fly past me. My muscles scream, begging me to stop. So I do, my hands on my knees, sweat dripping from my forhead.
A rough thing brushed my forhead, cooling it slightly. I look up, finding green eyes.
A
beautiful brown wolf with bright intelligent emerald eyes stares back at me. I lift my hand slowly, wishing to not scare it away, it does not flinch even as I run my fingers through the course thickness of their fur.
