Izuku Midoriya, a person often referred to as "useless" due to his seemingly weak quirk, which grants him a monkey tail and a slight strength enhancement. He endures constant bullying from his classmates because of this. Despite the hardships, Izuku manages to pass the UA exam and enters Class 1-A. However, his former friend Katsuki Bakugo continues to harass him for attending UA. In his class, he forms friendships, particularly with Ochaco Uraraka, whom he may have developed feelings for.

Skipping ahead to the USJ incident, where villains attack the facility, similar to canon events. Izuku saves Tsuyu, Mineta, and Ochaco from a flood zone. As they witness Aizawa being held captive by the "Anti-hero monster" Nomu, the dry man, who tries to touch Tsuyu, Ochaco intervenes but is stopped by the Nomu. Following Shigaraki's orders, the Nomu breaks Ochaco's arm. Witnessing this, something inside Izuku snaps, and an overwhelming rage consumes him.

Thunder rumbles, and lightning strikes the dome as Izuku carries Ochaco to safety. Dark marks resembling stripes appear on his chest and shoulders, while he breathes fire. The flames engulf his face, turning his hair into a blazing inferno, and his teeth become sharp. His eyes glow yellow, reflecting his fury as he confronts the villains.

Shigaraki, taken aback by Izuku's transformation, deems him a cheater, as if they were merely playing a game. Izuku's anger intensifies, causing Shigaraki to flinch, and he orders the Nomu to kill him.
