The 18 years old boy just prayed that he would fit well here as he followed the manager . As they reached the room, the manager excused himself . Virat noticed the room was a little open and he could heard voices from there . He entered only to find suresh raina , Ms dhoni , Zaheer khan , harbhajan singh and yuvi pa sitting on the bed . He was starstruck seeing them . No word was coming from his mouth . Are they real was the only question that came to his mind . His chains of thought were broken as he felt someone was shaking him and he turned and that someone was Yuvraj singh . He was hell nervous. 

Yuvi ( in his usual rude voice ) : oye who r u ??? 

Vi : Vi.. Virat Kohli . N..new member of this team 

Yuvi ( shrugging his shoulder ) : so many players come and go may be u r one amongst them 

He smiled as he remembered something " 

Bhai so many players come and go may be I am one of them " 

" U might be one amongst them because a team only has 11 members and squad has 15 members but certainly u will work hard to not let go the place u will made in playing 11 and even if u loose come back with bang " 

Vi : but I can work hard enough to not let go the place 

 Everyone smiled, including Yuvi . Vi took a breath of relief thank god he did not offend anyone . They suddenly felt strong affection towards the kid, especially our captain. 

Mahi : Welcome to the team, Virat. 

 Vi : thank u sir

Mahi : don't call me sir in fact don't call anyone sir here we don't like it . 

 Sonu : U can call us bhai , pa whatever u want 

 Vi : sure sir 

 Mahi ( glaring ) : we said something to u just now 

 Vi ( nervously ) : so ... sorry sir I... I mean bhai sir no... no I..I mean 

 Ms smiled at the nervous kid . 

" Don't worry, call me what you're comfortable with . Take your time . Go and freshen up we're heading to take lunch. I will introduce u with everyone there only " said mahi, keeping his hand on his shoulder . Everyone went from there patting Vi . Mahi introduced Vi to everyone .   

They had thier lunch with chitchat and team included Vi in it too .

Bhajji : So Virat do u have any nick name

Vi : No sir I dont have any

Yuvi : Dont worry we will give u we r very talented in this

Vi smiled ( In mind ) : At Least it will be less embarrassing than Cheeku

After the lunch they all headed to their respective room . Vi slept with Ms . Few days passed and Vi was now comfortable with everyone. The next day was the debut match of Vi . At night MS's sleep broke only to find Vi not beside him . Ms then heard some silent sobs from the balcony only to find Vi sobbing clutching the phone close to his heart . Mahi's heart ached seeing it . He moved towards him and placed a hand on his shoulder . Vi got alert by the sudden touch and hurriedly wiped his tears not looking at Ms trying to hide his tears . Ms sat beside him and cupped his face making Vi looked at him . Mahi noticed his eyes and nose were completely red , lips trembling and the tears were threatening to come from his eyes . The kid was trying best not to burst into tears . Ms just caressed his hair and the warmth made him surrender . He just hugged Ms tight crying bitterly . Ms was worried he remembered Vi was ok before he went to sleep but now what happened to him all of sudden .

Ms ( patting his back ) : Vi baccha what happened kiddo ??? Did anyone say something to u ??? Tell me kiddo why r u crying so much.

Virat kept on crying whereas Ms kept on patting his back muttering sweet nothings . Once Vi calmed down a little

Ms : shhh it's okk baccha stop crying first stop crying you'll make yourself ill kiddo u have a match tomorrow right ???lets go inside room inside first it's too cold outside

Ms took him inside the room and made him sit on the sitting beside him . He again took Vi in a warm hug with his head on Ms chest and Vi snuggled into him as he sobbed .

Ms : bacha please tell me something at least . Why r u crying this much?

Vi ( whispered ) : papa and again started sobbing

Ms : yess kiddo what happened to him . Is he all right ???Do u wanna talk to him ?? Tell me baccha

Vi : h..he is n..no mo..more . H...he die..died d..due to b..brain brain stroke l..leaving me . He lef..left m..me .( hiccuped ) H..he pr..promised th..that he he wi..will b..be with m..me b.. but h..he br..broke h..his pr..promise . W..why h..he l..left m..me l..like thi..this( hiccuped ) ?? Why ?? Vi again burst into bitter cry .

Yes, Ms remembered, Zak told him how he delayed his father's funeral to play the match . He bit his lower lips to control his emotion as he had a kid to handle . He can't even think of what this young boy must have gone through .

Ms : calm down kiddo who said ur father left u he is always there with u in ur heart in ur memories in ur prayer . Its because of his blessings that u r going to achieve ur dream . Its his expectation from u that gives u enough strenght to take step further towards ur dream. Trust me baccha he is always there for u and I am sure he must be so happy and proud .

Vi ( sobbing ) : but but I miss him very badly .

Ms : It's obvious to miss him but baccha won't he feel sad and helpless when he will see his kid crying like this remembering him . Every parent want that his child always stay happy don't u think it will hurt him to see u like this .

Vi ( innocently ) : Really he is always there with me ???

Ms ( kissing his hair ) : yes baccha he is always there

Vi just nodded and stayed snuggled into ms chest feeling secured and protected whereas ms kept on rubbing his back and patting his head with other . After sometime as Vi calmed down Ms broke the hug and make him drink water after wiping his face

Ms : sleep now we have match tomorrow

Vi ( mumbling) : I dont wanna sleep . I can't take another nightmare . I can't

"ssh u r not alone kiddo . I am here just beside u . " said ms holding Vi again .

Vi ( innocently ) : promise ???

Ms ( ruffling his hair ) : promise kiddo . Now sleep .  

 Vi said thank u Mahi bhai as he hugged him again . Ms tightened the hold feeling warm at last he became bhai for the kid . He can certainly feel the happiness dada must have felt when he first called him dada . His own eyes become misty hearing this word . He doesn't know why this word sounds precious to him more than anything in the world . His chains of thought broke as he sensed Vi breaking the hug .

Ms : just remember one thing kiddo mahi bhai will always be there for Virat

Vi ( smiled ) : cheeku

Ms ( confused ) : huhh??? U want to eat cheeku this late night

Vi ( laughing ) : bhai my nickname is cheeku . My close one's calls me that . Why will I eat cheeku in night . Vi burst into laughter mahi bhai too joined him .

Mahi bhai ( raising his eyebrow ) : but u said u dont have any nickname

Vi ( sheepishly ) : Its sounds so embarrassing bhai . I thought u all will laugh .

It's not at all embarrassing. It's very cute . I will call u cheeku only from now onwards said mahi, ruffling his hair fondly . Sleep now kid it's very late, said ms as he noticed the time. As soon as mahi laid beside Vi , Vi hugged him keeping his head on ms chest amd slept in few seconds cuddling to him . Ms chuckled at cute chubby cheeku and slept holding him tighter promising he will protect him forever .

Next day was debut match of Vi . Everyone wished him luck and motivated him . But he was waiting for certain wish . As he saw mahi alone he went to him

Vi : wont u wish me good luck for today's match Ms smiled at the innocent kid

Ms : No I wont . Whenever I wish someone he got out so soon ( childishly pouting ) They look at each other for few seconds before bursting into laughter .

Mahi : go with same smiling face kid . I am proud of u . Let the match finish ur mahi bhai is going to take u on the treat

Vi smiled and nodded . Vi went out for bat but unfortunately got out at 12 runs on 22 balls

He was disappointed with his perfomance as he went in the dressing room Gautam was there .

Gaut : Told u not to consider it as U 19 cricket match . It needs talent not tattoos and all

Gautam left and Vi just sat there unknown to them all was listened by a person who had to left urgently as wicket was down again . India loose the match and went to hotel . Gautam and Mahi were the last to leave the bus . On thier way to the room

Mahi : Well U were saying something to the kid gauti in dressing room .

Gauti : look mahi directly coming to the point do u really think that guy will be able to make place in this team . Look at him man these tattoo and all . He dont even look like a player .

Mahi : may I ask u in which book it is written that a person having tattoos cant be a good cricketer or is there any rule that we have to opt a player acc. to his appearence . A person stays in the team according to his talent and I promise u a time will come this boy will be the moon amongst stars , he will be the best not only in the team but in whole world . U were saying about his personality na then be ready for the moment when the children will idolise him nd the youth will follow him . He is going to be the best amongst the best .

Ms left from there and entered in the room only to see his cheeku sitting on the bed covering his face from his palms .

" dont think about gauti too much cheeku " said mahi as he sat beside him throwing his arm around Vi . Vi startled by this .

Vi : ha ? Ha .. No he didnt said anything bhai

Mahi : Look cheeku dont lie to me I have heard everything

Vi didnt said anything just look down

Mahi : Cheeku understand this u r here for a reason . Have trust on my judgement baccha if I am saying u deserve to be here then u do u really do . U have scored low in one match that too was ur debut match everything was new for u that doesnt mean u r not capable enough .  

 Yes there are some who score a big score on the debut match but that doesnt mean u r any less than them . U know when I played my debut match I got out on the golden duck and my scores for followimg few matches were more seem like a student scoring marks in test out of 10 or 20 but look where I am now . Not only me even my elder brother , my dada , my captain Sourav Ganguly he got out at 3 and was dropped out then he again came and smashed 136 runs . U idolise Sach pa na u know he scored only 15 runs look where they both r now and trust me baccha u r going to be one amongst us .

Vi nodded but still looked unsure .

Mahi : whom do u trust more me or gauti ???

Vi : u

Mahi : who know u more me or gauti ???

Vi : u

Mahi : Who is ur captain me or gauti ???

Vi : u

Mahi : then whose words should matter u the most me or gauti ???

Vi ( sheepishly smiling ) : u

Mahi hit him lightly in his head making Vi pout rubbing his head . Ms smiled at him

Ms : now go and change we're going for dinner Vi grinned and rushed to the washroom . After a few minutes Vi came from the washroom only to find mahi bhai taking some medicines .

Vi ( worried ) : what happened bhai ? Why r u taking medicines ?

Mahi : it's nothing cheeku leave it lets go Ms turned to go that's when Vi saw a bandage on mahi left thumb .

Vi ( holding his hand ) : bhai what is this ?? How did you get injured

Mahi : it's nothing just while wicket keeping . Leave it na . Lets go

Vi : no bhai I won't listen to u . We can go for dinner later also

Mahi : cheeku u dont have to care for me this much u..

Vi ( angrily cutting b/w ) : so u saying that I don't have right to care for u . Right ???

Mahi : No no cheeku I didn't mean that kiddo

Vi ( sitting on bed ) : U know what bhai do whatever u want . I am not gonna talk to u

Mahi sat beside Vi holding his ears

Mahi ( holding his ears ) : forgive me na kiddo sorry . Ok I promise I will do whatever u say

Vi ( nodding ) : okk so go and order dinner for both of us

Ms smiled and ordered dinner for both of them . Vi smiled as he listened, mahi bhai ordered his fav. dishes but soon hide it and maintain a stern face .

Ms ( sitting beside him and opening his arms ) : done , now ???

That's when Vi noticed something and brought a first aid box . And started redoing the bandage muttering something about careless people present . Soon the dinner came and Vi served for both of them and pushed both plates in front of Mahi where as ms looked at him confused

Vi ( childishly ) what I am angry from u manofy me And opened his mouth ms chuckled as he forwarded a bite to Vi . He finally got a younger brother . "My cheeku "he thought fondly "I will always protect you from everything " . That's when they became our mahirat as they were certainly not Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni they were cheeku and his mahi bhai
