Devdutt Padikkal and Saakshi Roy were friends since childhood. They became friends when Saakshi saved a 3 year old Dev from some bullies.

And after that day, Dev and Saakshi became bestfriend. Devdutt used share  his food with Saakshi and Saakshi used to share her crayons with Devdutt.

Devdutt started showing interest in cricket when he was 4. Saakshi was always interested in cricket and at that time, she was a big Rahul Dravid fan.

When Devdutt used to go to practice, Saakshi would tag along. She used to sit in the benches and support Dev from the sidelines. While, Dev received both practical and theoretical knowledge of cricket, Saakshi only got the theoretical part.

Saakshi always knew Devdutt would become a great players and she would never miss a chance to tell him that.

10 years later,

A young batsman was looking at the bowler who took 5 wickets. 6 runs was required from 2 balls. He looked in the stand and saw a girl whose fingers were crossed and she was praying. The batsman smirk and the hit a six on that ball.

"Devdutt Padikkal smashed a massive six and the ball goes out of the ground!! Bellary Tuskers wins the Karnataka Premier League!! "

The girl in stands finally let out a breath. She thanked god for keeping Devdutt not out. Devdutt walked towards that girl.

"I told you, didn't I? That I would be not out because I believe in myself and I believe you and your praying power, Saakshi." Devdutt said.

Saakshi rolled her eyes.

"If you're done buttering me, let's go and get some lunch." Saakshi said.

"Yeah, just let me change my clothes." Devdutt said and ran towards the dressing room.

Devdutt came to where Saakshi was standing. Saakshi was lost in her thoughts and didn't see Devdutt coming towards her.

"Let's go." Devdutt said and started walking.

He looked behind him and saw Saakshi standing at the exact spot. Devdutt pinched Saakshi and she hissed in pain.

"Oww, Devdutt. Are you mad or what?" Saakshi asked and slapped his biceps.

"Aah.. Saakshi yaar. It hurts." Devdutt whined.

Saakshi smirked and said "Good." and walked ahead of Devdutt.

"What were you thinking about?" Devdutt asked.

"Nothing much. Just future plans." Saakshi said.

"Oh please. You have your whole future sorted. Please tell me na. We tell each other everything." Devdutt pleaded.

'No, Dev. We don't tell each other everything. I never told you that I love you.' Saakshi thought.

"Leave it. I'm hungry. Let's go to that restaurant over there." Saakshi said and dragged Devdutt.

Saakshi returned to her home and saw her mom and dad packing their belongings.

"Papa, what happened?" Saakshi asked.

"I got transferred to my companies branch in Mumbai as COO. We're shifting to Mumbai." Mr. Roy announced.

Saakshi was happy but sad at the same time. She always wanted to go to Mumbai but with Devdutt.

"Congratulations, Papa. Let me help you guys." Saakshi said and helped them in packing.

Saakshi called Devdutt and asked him to meet her on their spot. Devdutt came and sat beside her.

"Hey, what happened?" Devdutt asked.

"I'm moving to Mumbai." Saakshi said.

"What? Seriously?" Devdutt asked, surprised.

Saakshi nodded.

"Who will pray for me in matches now? Who will I rant to?" Devdutt whined.

"You can always call me." Saakshi said, chuckling.

"Yeah. You're right." Devdutt said.

"There's one more thing, Dev." Saakshi said.

"What is it?" Devdutt asked.

"Dev, I love you. Not as a friend but as something more." Saakshi said.

Devdutt was shocked.

"I'm really sorry, Saakshi but I see you as a friend only." Devdutt said.

Saakshi smiled and stood up. Devdutt also stood up.

"It's okay, Dev. I completely understand." Saakshi said.

She leaned up and placed a soft kiss on Devdutt's cheek.

"Why now?" Devdutt asked.

"Huh?"

"Why are you telling me this now? Why didn't you tell me before?" Devdutt asked.

"I was scared." Saakshi admitted.

"You so selfishly hid it from me, Saakshi." Devdutt said, angrily.

"What do you mean?" Saakshi asked as tears gathered in her eyes.

"You're a liar, Saakshi. Did you really tell me all your secrets? Do you really pray for me in the matches. Kitna jhut bola hai tumne mujhse?" Devdutt asked.

Saakshi was genuinely hurt by his allegations.

"FUCK YOU, DEV! I HOPE WE NEVER SEE EACH OTHER EVER AGAIN." Saakshi shoutsnd left. Tears were still rolling down her eyes.

Devdutt was standing at the spot like a statue. He sat down on the spot, feeling guilty. After sometime he gathered himself and ran towards Saakshi's house. When he reached there he saw that the Roy family had already left. Devdutt finally let his tears flow freely. He sobbed and hopes Saakshi would come back to him and after few hours when we was sure Saakshi was not going to come back, he went to his home and cried himself to sleep.

6 years later,

Saakshi was now a Management student. Since her interest lies in sports management, her institute sent her to Mumbai Indians team as an intern. She was an assistant to the current manager of Mumbai Indians team.

When she met Rohit Sharma for the first time, her eyes were filled with tears which made Rohit panic, thinking he did something that made her cry. But when she said she got happy seeing him, Rohit finally relaxed. Rohit and Ritika basically adopted Saakshi as their own. She made friends with everyone in team. Be it support staff or an international player.

Saakshi was a hard working student and intern. Rohit was extremely proud of her.

Saakshi had everything here. A loving family, an institute she wanted to get on since she was 14 years old, MI as second family but her heart still wanted Devdutt in her life. She often thinks that of Devdutt was still present in her life, how would have been very proud of her. She still watches his matches and still pray for him.

Tomorrow was the match of RCB vs MI. Saakshi was very nervous because Rohit said he was going to introduce Saakshi to Virat Kohli. She knew that along with Virat, Devdutt was going to be there as well.

Nehal Wadhera saw Saakshi in deep thoughts. He shook her and Saakshi came out of her thoughts.

"Bro, if you're going to think this much, your brain will get small." Nehal said.

"Only a person whose brain doesn't exist can talk shit like this." Saakshi said and smirked.

"I know you're thinking how you're going to face Devdutt. But Saakshi, it's been 6 years. Forget that fight and please hug him tightly. You both need it." Nehal said.

"I don't know, Nehal. I will think about it." Saakshi said.

Next Day,

MI and RCB, one of the biggest Rival teams of the tournament, were ready for the match. Rohit and Virat came out for the toss. Rohit won the toss and chose batting.

MI was playing aggressive game. MI's  score was 241/3. The target for RCB was 242.

Devdutt came out to bat with Glenn Maxwell. Jasprit Bumrah was bowling to Maxwell and he got out on the first ball itself. After him, Virat came out to bat. They played Jasprit's over carefully. Jofra Archer came to bowl next. He bowled a yorker and Devdutt almost got out but he was saved. Devdutt looked around the field and saw a familiar figure sitting in MI's dugout.

"Saakshi." Devdutt whispered out.

'She's still so beautiful.' Devdutt thought. 'I will win this match. I will do this for you, Saakshi.' Devdutt thought.

Jofra Archer bowled the bext ball and Devdutt smashed it for a six. Devdutt and Virat both started playing aggressively and won RCB that match.

Rohit dragged Saakshi to Virat to introduce her to him. Devdutt was talking to Virat when he noticed Rohit dragging Saakshi towards them.

"Virat and Devdutt. Congratulations yaar. Mast match khela tum logo ne." Rohit praised.

"Especially you, Devdutt. What a knock." Rohit said.

"Thank you, bhai." Devdutt said.

"Yeh kon hai?" Virat asked.

"Haan. She is Saakshi Roy. Intern haib ut bahut hard working hai. Meri behen hai." Rohit said.

"Accha? Hi, Saakshi." Virat greeted.

"Hello, sir." Saakshi greeted back.

"Yeh 'sir' nahi chalega. Rohit ki tum behen ho na? Toh meri bhi ho. Accha Rohit ek min sun." Virat pulled Rohit with him leaving Saakshi and Devdutt alone.

"Hey." Devdutt said.

"Hi."

"How are you?" Devdutt asked.

"I'm fine. You?" Saakshi asked.

"Fine."

"Saakshi, I'm really sorry for what I said that day. I was sad ki tum jaa rahi thi, upar se you confessed and I'm really sorry." Devdutt said, tears filled in his eyes.

"It's okay, Devdutt. Uss baat ko 6 saal ho gaye hai. Hum naadaan bhi toh the." Saakshi said.

"Don't call me Devdutt. Tum mujhe Dev hi bulao. Warna main maanunga ki tumne mujhe maaf nahi kiya." Devdutt said and pouted.

"Accha baba. Thik hai. It's okay, Dev." Saakshi said and chuckled.

"Kal mere saath coffee pe chalogi?" Devdutt asked.

"Sure. Just text me the time and place." Saakshi said.

Saakshi was called by Rohit. She bid goodbye to Devdutt and went towards Rohit.

Next Day, 

Saakshi and Devdutt met at the cafe and they catch up on the 6 years they missed together.

"I'm extremely proud of you." Devdutt said.

Saakshi smiled and thanked him. They roamed together in the city. At night, they find a secluded spot and sat there.

"Main toh thak gayi." Saakshi said.

"Main bhi." Devdutt said.

They sat there in comfortable silence.

"Ek baat puchu?" Devdutt asked.

"Haan." Saakshi replied.

"Tum abhi bhi mere se pyaar karti ho?" Devdutt asked.

"Maine kabhi tumse pyaar karna band hi nahi kiya." Saakshi said with a small smile.

"Good. Kyunki main bhi tumse pyaar karta hu." Devdutt confessed.

"Huh?"

"Tum jab chali gayi, tab mujhe feel hua ki shaayad tumhare alawa, na meri life me koi aaya hai aur na aa sakega. I love you, Saakshi. Will you be my girlfriend?"

Saakshi smiled.

"Haan. I will be your girlfriend."

Devdutt and Saakshi leaned in and they kissed.

"So this is how I met your mother." Devdutt said to his daughter.

"Woah, Papa. Such a cute story." Devisha, Devdutt and Saakshi's daughter said.

"Agar dono baap beti ka ho gaya ho, toh sone chale?" Saakshi asked.

"Haan. Good night, baby. Sleep tight." Devdutt said.

"Good night, baccha." Saakshi said and kissed Devisha's forehead.

They closed the door of their daughter's room.

"I love you, Saakshi."

"I love you too, Dev."
