Watermelon Crush

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Surya stopped in his tracks.

He was on his way to a nice dinner after winning the first t20 against South Africa, but now he has to manage these idiot kids of his.

His respect for Rohit did increase in such situations.

Because how the fuck does Rohit manage the grown ass kids in his team when Surya can't even manage the little debuting boys as a captain.

He sighed as he entered the room with caution. He had already mentally prepared himself for the worst.

But no

The scene inside was way worse.

Ravi Bishnoi stood alone at the edge of the bed, a large watermelon in front of him. His grip was firm on the stick, and his eyes were focused, not on the fruit, but on something deeper—his own frustrations.

"Ahhhhhhhh" Bishnoi let out a warrior yell before jumping from the bed and striking a blow on the watermelon with his stick.

"Again, Ravi?" Surya Kumar Yadav's voice broke through the silence, his tone half-amused, half-puzzled.

He had seen Ravi practice his warrior skills near the field yesterday too.

Ravi didn't look up, he once again swung his stick in a precise arc, cracking the watermelon open with a resounding thud this time.

He felt a strange satisfaction, but it didn't last.

His breathing was steady, a hallmark of Ravi's calm nature, but inside, there was a storm.

Arshdeep, his best friend, his confidante, had always been there for him—both on and off the field. But lately, Ravi had found it increasingly harder to stay composed.

Every time he caught Arshdeep's smile, or heard his voice filled with warmth, his heart would race in a way that made him feel vulnerable, exposed.

"Ravi?"

Ravi froze, the stick hovering in midair. He turned around to see Sky , his teammate, watching him curiously from a distance.

"What's going on?" Surya raised an eyebrow. "Why are you attacking that watermelon like it's your worst enemy?"

"This is Arshdeep," Ravi said flatly, gesturing at the split fruit with the stick. "I'm trying to break him open, but he won't get the message. No matter how hard I try."

Surya stared at Ravi, a frown forming on his face. "You're hitting a watermelon with a stick because of Arshdeep?"

Ravi let out a frustrated sigh and looked up at Surya, his calm demeanor betraying a deep-seated frustration. "It's not about the watermelon. It's about him. He's my best friend, and I... I don't know how to get him to see what I feel. I keep dropping hints, but he doesn't notice. It's like he doesn't know, or worse, like he doesn't care."

Surya raised an eyebrow, stepping closer. "Maybe it's because you spend too much time with him. You're always around him, Ravi. He's used to you being there. Maybe you need to give him space. Take a step back, let him miss you a bit."

Ravi frowned. "Distance myself from Arsh? But... he's my best friend."

"Exactly," Surya replied with a mischievous grin. "That's the problem. You've made yourself so available, he doesn't have to think about you as anything else."

Ravi's gaze dropped to the watermelon, a quiet resolve settling over him. "Maybe you're right," he murmured.

Surya shrugged. "Trust me on this one. Let him wonder what's going on with you."

---

The next day, Ravi decided to follow Surya's advice. He started to distance himself from Arshdeep.

It wasn't easy—Arshdeep was always there, always ready with a smile or a joke to lighten the mood. But Ravi resisted the urge to talk to him, to hang out after practice, to help him with his drills.

Instead, he sought out Rinku to spend more time with . Rinku had always been a good friend but wasn't nearly as close to Ravi as Arshdeep was.

At first, Arshdeep didn't notice. He was wrapped up in his own routine, his focus entirely on the upcoming matches. But as the days passed, something started to gnaw at him.

The change was subtle at first, but Arshdeep couldn't ignore it.

Ravi seemed more distant, less engaged in their usual conversations. . He wasn't laughing at his jokes or chatting about strategy during breaks.

when Arshdeep tried to hang out after practice, Ravi would make excuses. He always had plans with Rinku.

Whenever Arsh did see Ravi with Rinku, something inside him twisted, something he couldn't quite understand.

It was subtle at first, a fleeting sense of unease when he saw Ravi and Rinku together, a tightness in his chest when he realized Ravi was avoiding him.

But the more he thought about it, the more he realized just how much he missed Ravi's company. It wasn't just the friendship anymore; there was something deeper, something unspoken that was starting to make itself clear.

It wasn't until one afternoon, when he found Ravi and Rinku walking off the field together, laughing about something, that the realization hit him like a ton of bricks.

He was jealous.

He didn't like seeing Ravi with anyone else, not like that.

The pang in his chest turned into something sharper, something he couldn't ignore. He didn't want Ravi to pull away. He needed him.

But more than that—he wanted him.

That was it. He liked Ravi. More than just as a friend.

He'd been too blind to see it before, too comfortable with the way things had always been. But now, he couldn't deny it anymore.

That evening, as the team gathered for a casual dinner, Arshdeep couldn't take it anymore.

He needed to talk to Ravi, to figure out what was happening between them. So, when the others were distracted with their conversations, Arshdeep found Ravi standing by the balcony, gazing out at the night sky.

Ravi looked up as Arshdeep approached, his expression neutral, but there was something in his eyes—something unreadable.

"Hey," Arshdeep said softly, his voice suddenly tight. "Can we talk?"

Ravi turned toward him, and for a moment, there was just silence.

Then Ravi gave a small nod. "About what?"

Arshdeep shifted, his palms sweating slightly. "About you. About us."

Ravi's eyebrow raised, his breathing changed. "Us?"

"Yeah," Arshdeep said, his heart pounding in his chest. "I don't know what this is, Ravi. But I think I've been an idiot."

Ravi blinked, his calm demeanor slipping for a second. "An idiot? What do you mean?"

"I mean," Arshdeep took a deep breath, "I've been blind. I didn't see it before, but I see it now. I see it all. I've been jealous of Rinku. I've been..." He stopped, struggling for words.

Ravi placed his hand on Arsh's hand giving him comfort.

"I've been a fool, because I've been pushing you away when all I wanted was to pull you closer." Arsh declared.

Ravi's gaze softened, his eyes searching Arshdeep's face. "You're... saying you feel the same way?"

Arshdeep swallowed, nodding slowly. "Yeah. I do. I always have. But I was too afraid to admit it."

Ravi stepped forward, the gap between them diminishing.

There was a gentle warmth in his eyes now, something like relief. "You don't have to be afraid, Arsh. I've been in love with you for the longest time."

Arshdeep's breath caught in his throat. "You have?"

Ravi smiled, a small, private smile that made Arshdeep's heart flutter. "Yes. But I thought you'd never see me that way. I didn't want to ruin what we had."

Arshdeep chuckled softly, the tension in his shoulders easing. "Turns out we're both idiots, huh?"

Before Ravi could respond, Arshdeep bent down, cupping his face gently, and without thinking, he leaned in, closing the final gap between them.

Their lips met softly at first, tentative, like they were both testing the waters.

But as the kiss deepened, there was no hesitation, no uncertainty—just a quiet, overwhelming relief.

When they finally pulled away, their foreheads touched, and they both let out a breath they hadn't realized they were holding.

Arshdeep smiled, a small, private smile, the kind he used to share only with Ravi.

"Yeah," Ravi agreed, his voice low and warm and his cheeks flushed ,"I guess we are."

And as for the watermelon? Ravi never touched another one with a stick again.
