Jasprit Bumrah was a man who lived by the rules of the business world: ruthless, calculated, and distant. He was the CEO of one of the most successful tech firms in the country, admired for his sharp mind, his business skills and his ability to make decisions that others feared to take.
But for all his power and success, Jassi was a cold man. His reputation was that of an unapproachable, cold, and heartless leader. He had the world at his feet—handsome, wealthy, and admired but the price was hefty.
He had learned never to rely on anyone. He had learned that vulnerability was a weakness and kindness only made you a target.
His employees feared him. Many had been fired for the smallest of mistakes, their dismissals swift and without mercy. And yet, there was one person who had somehow managed to survive his cold reign for an entire year: Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Bhuvi, as everyone called him, was as different from his boss as night was from day. Shy, introverted, and almost invisible in a room full of people. His glasses were always large and perched low on his nose. His hair was gelled into the same and unchanged style while his clothes were muted — a far cry from the lavish, tailored suits of his boss.
He was the secretary to the CEO, a job that demanded constant attention to detail, yet it seemed to drain the very life out of him. He had no time for himself, no space to be anything other than Bumrah's right-hand man.
But no matter how hard he worked, Bumrah never paid him any special attention. It was as if Bhuvneshwar was just another cog in the machine, performing tasks without any recognition.
Yet, despite the lack of acknowledgment, Bhuvi never complained. He never asked for praise. He simply did his job.
He was always prepared, anticipating Bumrah's needs before he even voiced them. His tie was always pressed and ready, his coffee brewed to perfection, and Bumrah's laptop always charged.
But Bhuvi did hide a secret. A secret no one even knew. He had always admired Bumrah from a distance. He had a secret crush on his cold, aloof boss, but it was something he kept buried deep inside.
He was just a shadow to Bumrah, existing to make the CEO's life smoother in every way possible. Bhuvi's quiet presence in his life was like an invisible thread, holding things together while Bumrah ran his empire.
That was until one fateful day when Bumrah's older brother, Rohit had paid a visit to the office. Rohit was charming, easygoing and always the one who saw the world through a more compassionate lens.
As he walked through the office, he paused at Bhuvi's desk, noticing the man's quiet demeanor and the effort he put into his work. Rohit, never one to hide his appreciation, complimented Bhuvi for his dedication.
"Bhuvneshwar, right?" Rohit asked seeing him buried in his computer with a stack of papers in his hand. "I've been noticing you around. You're really dedicated to your work, huh?"
Bhuvneshwar looked up, startled by the sudden attention. His cheeks flushed red as he mumbled, "I... I just try to do my best, sir."
"Keep it up," Rohit said with a smile while giving Bhuvneshwar a pat on the back. "Jasprit could use more people like you."
Jasprit, who had been observing the interaction from afar, was taken aback. He had never thought of Bhuvi in such a light. The compliment seemed to linger in the air, and for the first time, his gaze lingered on Bhuvneshwar for a moment longer than usual.
Bumrah began paying more attention to Bhuvi—his little unsaid gestures. The way he would place Bumrah's morning coffee just right on his desk, the way he always had Bumrah's agenda organized to the minute, the way he would keep his laptop charged and ready before any big meetings.
He realized how much Bhuvi did for him, all the little things that made his life easier—things that he had never noticed before. It made him feel... something he didn't know how to explain. Maybe it was admiration. Maybe it was curiosity. But whatever it was, it was a feeling he wasn't used to.
It was like Bhuvi knew him better than anyone else. Bumrah's thoughts were always preoccupied with business matters, but now they often drifted toward Bhuvi.
A week later, during the preparations for a company event—a ramp walk contest where employees competed to showcase their style—Bumrah was going through the participants' list. As he scanned the names, he was struck by the fact that Bhuvi's name wasn't on the list. He frowned in confusion.
"Why isn't Bhuvi participating?" Bumrah muttered to himself. It felt wrong, like something was missing.
He quickly added Bhuvi's name to the list and called him into his office. When Bhuvi hesitantly entered, Bumrah barely looked up from his phone.
"Bhuvi," he said, without looking up, "You're going to be part of the ramp walk today."
Bhuvi blinked, his nerves already kicking in. "I—I don't know, sir. I'm not... I'm not really the type."
Bumrah finally looked up, his piercing eyes locking onto Bhuvi's. "I want to see your pretty face on that stage," he said, his voice low and unexpectedly sincere.
Bhuvi's cheeks turned pink at the compliment, his heart racing. He had always admired Bumrah from afar, but hearing such a statement from him made his pulse spike.
Bhuvi froze. "But, sir, I—"
"No excuses, Bhuvi." Jassi said, his voice softening just a little. "You never know, you might even surprise yourself."
Bhuvi blinked, his cheeks turning a shade of pink. "I... I'm not sure, sir."
Jassi's eyes softened. "Trust me. Just give it a try. You'll be amazing."
Bhuvi didn't know what to do. He was never the center of attention. But something in Jassi's voice made him feel like he should at least try. He hesitated but then nodded, his face still flushed.
When the day of the ramp walk arrived, Jassi wasn't particularly interested. He was busy, glued to his phone as usual, scrolling through emails and messages. But as the participants took their turn, something caught his attention.
"Bhuvneshwar Kumar," the announcer boomed, and for the first time, Bumrah's gaze lifted from his phone.
His breath caught in his throat.
He looked up, his eyes following Bhuvi as he stepped onto the stage.
Bhuvi looked stunning.
His suit, a sharp charcoal gray, fit him perfectly. His hair was styled differently, not the usual gelled look but left slightly tousled, giving him an effortlessly dashing appearance. His glasses, which usually hid his eyes, were now gone, and in their place was a spark in his gaze—something bold, something Jassi hadn't seen before.
His usual shyness was replaced by a quiet confidence while his expression was a mix of nervousness and resolve. His posture was confident, his smile warm, and his aura... breathtaking.
Jassi couldn't take his eyes off him.
Bhuvi walked with a grace Jassi hadn't expected. His steps were measured, yet there was a certain allure to the way he carried himself—something Jassi hadn't noticed in the quiet secretary he'd ignored for so long.
As Bhuvi reached the end of the ramp, Jassi felt his breath caught in his throat. He had never seen Bhuvi like this. The awkward, introverted secretary had transformed into a dashing figure, exuding elegance and charm.
The cold CEO, who had once been indifferent to everyone around him, was now fixated on the man who had spent so many silent months making his life easier.
When Bhuvneshwar finished his walk, Bumrah was no longer paying attention to his phone. His eyes followed Bhuvneshwar until he returned backstage.
The announcement came soon after. "And the winner is... Bhuvneshwar Kumar!"
Bumrah's heart raced as he stood and approached Bhuvneshwar, who stood on the stage awkwardly, still flushed from the walk. Bumrah took the trophy in his hand and handed it to Bhuvneshwar with a sincere smile.
"You look ravishing tonight, Bhuvi. ," Bumrah whispered in his ear. His voice was low and only meant for Bhuvneshwar's ears.
Bhuvi's face turned a shade of crimson, his heart pounding in his chest. He had never expected such a compliment, let alone from Bumrah himself. It was like a dream come true. He smiled shyly, unable to hide the happiness in his eyes.
It was a small moment, but it meant everything.
That night, Bumrah found himself thinking about Bhuvi more than he had ever imagined. It was clear that something had shifted between them, something unspoken, but undeniable. He couldn't ignore the way his heart raced whenever Bhuvi was near.
The days following the event were different. Bumrah's cold demeanor seemed to soften around Bhuvi. He began seeking him out more, not just for work, but for small conversations. The more they spoke, the more Bumrah realized that Bhuvi wasn't just his secretary—he was someone who had quietly stolen a part of his heart.
One evening, as they were working late, Bumrah broke the silence.
"Bhuvi," he started, his voice unusually tentative, "I've been thinking. I've been cold for so long, but... I can't ignore this anymore. Would you, um, consider being more than just my secretary? Would you... be willing to take your inexpressive boss as your boyfriend?"
Bhuvi's eyes widened in shock. This was the last thing he'd expected. The man he had secretly crushed on for years—who had never paid him special attention—was asking him to be with him.
"I... I can't believe this..." Bhuvi whispered, his voice filled with wonder.
He had admired Bumrah from afar for years, but this? This was beyond anything he could have dreamed. His heart raced as he processed the question.
"Yes," Bhuvi finally whispered, his voice barely audible.
Bumrah made his way to Bhuvi, placing a hand on his waist. "I'm not good with feelings, Bhuvi. But I know this. I like you."
Bhuvi nodded shyly, his heart pounding. "I like you too, Jassi."
A smile spread across Bumrah's face, the first real smile he had shown in a long time. He pulled Bhuvi closer, their lips meeting in a kiss that was tender, full of unspoken promises.
In that moment, everything changed. The cold CEO and the shy secretary had found something beautiful in each other—something neither had expected, but both had longed for.
