Shubman Gill had always been the youngest on the team. He was the young prodigy who had taken the cricket world by storm, the elegant batsman who was already considered a future star of Indian cricket.

When Yashasvi Jaiswal joined the team, Shub felt a strange excitement. After all, he was the youngest no longer, and he was more than ready to take someone under his wing. But when he first laid eyes on Yashasvi, he felt a twinge of something unfamiliar—a mix of admiration and awe.

It wasn't just Yash's age that threw him off—it was his looks. He was sharp, tall and above all, very handsome. His warm smile and confident demeanor left everyone around him in awe.

Yash's confidence radiated and though Shub was slightly jealous of his effortless charm, he was also drawn to it.

Shub had assumed Yash would be a wide-eyed rookie, but instead, Yash seemed like someone who had already been playing cricket for years with the kind of maturity that made him stand out.

He noticed how quickly Yash settled into the team. His skill with the bat was undeniable and soon he became a regular fixture in the nets.

The first few days passed in a blur as Yash settled into the team. He shared a room with Dhruv, and they instantly clicked, their bond growing strong in the few days they spent together.

Yash was more reserved than Shubman, who liked to joke around and be the life of the party. But the camaraderie between the two young cricketers was undeniable and they soon became inseparable off the field.

As days passed, Shub found himself spending more and more time with Yash. At first, it was just casual—practice, meals, banter. But soon, their conversations became deeper, the jokes shared longer. They laughed about everything, from their childhoods to their ambitions but there was always a strange current between them.

Shubman started feeling something he hadn't quite expected: an odd warmth when Yash smiled at him, a flutter in his chest when Yash laughed.

It wasn't until one night that Shub realized how deeply his feelings had grown. Yash had been sharing stories from his early days in cricket, stories that made Shub laugh and feel oddly... connected.

There was a moment when their eyes locked and Shub's heart raced, the kind of racing that only happened when he felt vulnerable, when something unspoken simmered beneath the surface.

He didn't have words for it. At least, not yet.

But Yash's feelings were becoming clearer to him every day. He realized something that threw him off balance—he was beginning to develop feelings for Shubman. His heart raced every time Shubman smiled at him, and the simple touch of a hand during a shared joke made his skin tingle.

Yash found himself thinking about Shubman all the time. There were moments when his heart would beat a little faster than normal when Shubman laughed, and Yash would find himself just staring at him, lost in his thoughts.

As time passed, Shub began to notice the subtle things—how Yash would always find a way to stand next to him, how his attention seemed to be focused on him a little more than anyone else.

It was a feeling that gnawed at Shub—he didn't know how to interpret it. Was Yash just friendly? Or was there something more?

Then, one day, as the two of them stood in the middle of the field, Yash had made up his mind. He couldn't deny it any longer. There was something about Shub that had Yash thinking about him constantly.

As they both adjusted their gloves and spoke about the match ahead, Yash decided to confess. His palms were sweaty, his heart raced, but he couldn't stop himself. He turned to Shubman, ready to spill everything.

"Shub, I—" Yash began, his voice almost a whisper.

Just then, the sound of someone's loud and cheerful  voice interrupted them.

"Shubman!"

"Ishaan!" Shub grinned, his face lighting up as his best friend appeared, jogging toward them.

It was Ishaan Kishan, Shubman's best friend who had come to visit. He ran up to Shubman and without warning, planted a quick kiss on Shubman's cheek.

The entire field seemed to freeze and Yash felt a pang of jealousy shoot through him

Shubman's face turned bright red. "What the hell, Ishaan?" he scolded, shoving his friend lightly.

"We're not kids anymore. Don't do that in front of a junior." Shubman snapped, embarrassed by the sudden show of affection. He was trying to play it cool but the mixture of confusion and discomfort was clear on his face. He quickly turned to Yash, expecting a response.

But to his shock, Yash stood there, frozen, a look of disbelief and hurt on his face. He felt his heart dropping as he watched Ishaan laugh and tease Shub.

The way they interacted, the familiarity between them, made something in Yash twist painfully. For a moment, he didn't know what to feel—whether he was jealous or just heartbroken at the thought of them being so close.

Without another word, Yash took a step back, his face unreadable. "I'll leave you guys to it," he muttered, turning away from them. "I'll go."

He didn't wait for a response.

Later that evening, Yash sat in his room, staring blankly at the wall. It was hard to process the mix of emotions that swirled within him.

But one thing was clear—he was losing control.

He couldn't ignore his feelings for Shub anymore. And yet, seeing the closeness between Shub and Ishaan had made it obvious to Yash that he had no place in that world. Maybe they were a couple. Maybe Shub had always been more invested in Ishaan than Yash had realized.

Ishaan knocked on Shubman's door later that night. Ishaan teased Shub about Yash. "You know, I think Yash is into you," he said with a wink.

Shubman, still flustered, muttered, "Stop it. He's not. He's just... nice. That's it."

"Come on," Ishaan pressed. "You've got that look. The kind where you want him to notice you."

Shub's stomach twisted. Was it that obvious? "No," he stammered. "He's just... not like that."

Ishaan grinned even wider. "You've got it bad, haven't you? It's written all over your face. You're into him."

Shub felt his cheeks heat up as the teasing continued. "Stop it, Ishaan!" he snapped, though a part of him felt like it was true.

He was into Yash. But he didn't know how to navigate it.

Meanwhile, Yash stood in the distance, watching them through the gap of the door. He saw the way they laughed, the ease between them, and it felt like a dagger to his chest.

He could hardly bear it anymore. He turned away and retreated to his room, where his emotions got the best of him. Yash found himself crying. He was falling for someone who would never see him the way he wanted.

Dhruv, his roommate understood his situation. "You need some time away from Shubman," Dhruv suggested gently. "Let's go out, spend some time together."

The next few days were agony for Yash. Dhruv was there for him. He could see that Yash needed someone and being the supportive friend he was, he gave him the comfort he needed.

Dhruv and Yash became inseparable. They ate together, practiced together, and Yash found a strange comfort in Dhruv's company.

Dhruv was kind, steady, and for some reason, it was easier to be with him but his mind never stopped thinking about Shubman. And from the looks Shubman shot his way, it seemed like he was thinking about him too.

At first, Shub tried to ignore it, telling himself that it wasn't any of his business. But the more he saw, the more his feelings bubbled up.

Shubman saw the way Yash and Dhruv would talk quietly, the way they fed each other, the way they leaned on each other, even in the nets. There was an intensity to their bond that made something in his chest tighten.

He didn't understand what had changed. Yash had become more distant, and every time he tried to approach him, Yash would find a reason to stay with Dhruv instead.

His jealousy was creeping in, and it made him feel strange. He had never thought of Yash that way before, but now he couldn't ignore it. Every time Yash smiled at Dhruv, every time they shared a laugh or a moment, Shubman felt an uncomfortable knot in his stomach.

He was getting jealous and increasingly frustrated. Why was Yash avoiding him? Was he upset with Shubman? Was it because of Ishaan?

One evening, as Yash rested his head against Dhruv's shoulder, Shub's anger boiled over. He couldn't take it anymore. He stormed over to them and yanked Yash away from Dhruv, pulling him into a secluded corner of the hotel.

"What the hell is going on, Yash?" Shub snapped. "Why are you acting like this?"

Yash blinked, taken aback by the sudden confrontation. "What do you mean?"

Shub's face flushed with frustration. "I see you. You're always with Dhruv, and you... you act like I don't exist anymore."

Yash's heart pounded. He couldn't hold it in any longer. "I thought... I thought you and Ishaan were something. I saw the way you two were earlier, and I just—"

Shubman's heart skipped a beat. "You think I'm with Ishaan? He's my best friend! You know that. Nothing's going on between us!" His words were sharp, but there was something else in them—a vulnerability that Yash hadn't expected.

Yash stood still for a moment, his eyes locked onto Shubman's. His throat tightened, but he couldn't back out now. "I like you, Shubman. I've been trying to ignore it, but I can't. I have feelings for you."

Shubman's expression softened. "You... you like me?" His voice was barely a whisper, but Yash could hear the disbelief in it.

Yash nodded. "Yes."

A long silence hung between them before Yash could say anything more, Shub was on him. He grabbed Yash by the collar, pulling him into a kiss.

It was raw, filled with months of unspoken words. Yash was too stunned to react at first but soon he was kissing Shub back, his heart racing with joy and relief. When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, faces flushed.

"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that," Yash whispered, his voice rough.

Shub smiled, his anger melting away into something softer. "You should've said something sooner," he murmured.

Yash chuckled, his heart still racing. "I was too scared you wouldn't feel the same way."

"I guess we were both idiots," Shubman replied, laughing softly. Then, with a grin, he added, "So, are you going to stop avoiding me now?"

Yashasvi chuckled, pulling him back into an embrace. "I'll never avoid you again."

And just like that, everything between them changed. The bond they shared grew deeper, their friendship transforming into something more beautiful than either of them had ever expected. Yashasvi no longer needed to keep his feelings hidden, and Shubman found the courage to accept what had always been right in front of him.

As for Dhruv, who had been observing from a distance, he couldn't help but smile. The two were finally where they were meant to be.
