Part 1
I want to know what will it take for me to hit number one and the gold metal for competing in the World Figure Skating Championships for my senior debut. Kaori Sakamoto made her mark on the world, Isabeau Levito and Kim Chae-yeon also made their marks. Just for free skating...
I want it, I want to be number one, and I have to be great.
*Grand Prix Final*
"And she does it again! Crushing the free skating event with an iron thumb and no efforts needed! This would be the 7th Grand Prix Final Victory for South Korea's rising legend, Choi Kim!
Choi Kim is only 21 years old and there is even some speculations that she might step down for this season for a big project or even a bigger performance and routine she is coming up with. Yet those skills and performance seems to regard such rumors.
As for Yuta Skai Babicheva, who earned her mark in the Grand Prix for the second time as for her upcoming senior debut soon. What do you think Tara?
Well, this year she didn't perform like her usual self today."
'Didn't perform at my best my a**, who these announcers think they are! They are not even the judges just announcers!' I thought to myself.
"Skai don't pay attention to the news or announcers sweetie. Let's just head back to the hotel okay?"
I gave my coach a fiery look before showing my tablet to him and standing up. "You see this? Junior Figure Skating Champion Falling From the Ranks: Is the Crown Already Stolen?...Plisetsky You see this?!-"
Let's pause right here, yep that anger girl that is getting fired up just by some news is me, Yuta 'Skai' Babicheva, but I just go as Skai Babicheva. I became an all-star junior ice skating champion at a very young age, diamond in the rough for Russia. I'm only 18 years old meaning I should of already made my senior debut but that took some time.
Also I am a hot-head when it comes to certain circumstances, I am known to being the Devil On Ice, nothing Angelic about me when it comes to my skating and it is fun whenever I am winning. Anyways, I finished 4th for this seasons Grand Prix Final. A dramatic fall from the podium.
I hate it. All this training I pulled off in different parts of Russia and I am getting no where. I need something new!
Anyways back to the present...
I headed my way around the corner and I spotted a senior of mines who look like she was on the verge of crying. I hate crying, I hate cryers, I hate all sad emotions! It makes people look weak and I hate the weak.
It took me a few minutes to wait then follow them right inside the bathroom. That's when I overheard her conversation on the phone with her grandmother. Sobbing quietly in the cubicle, this so called empty bathroom filled with her silent weeping.
She believes she didn't give it her all and it might be her last season. Who even knows if she will be able to compete again because our Coach chooses who gets that debut.
Anyways when I felt that I had enough of her crying I walked up to her stall and she seemed to started to stop crying since she noticed someone else was here too. I did the unexpected...
I kicked the cubicle door making her yelp and possibly almost drop her phone. I walked back and leaned against the sinks and waited until she came out out of the stall. I hated the weak, not a lot of people know that but I makes it very clear.
When my senior came out of her cubicle sniffing and with the red eyes, she noticed I was still there looking at her.
"A-Ah sorry if I took too long, are we leaving now or..." She said in a soft voice. I slowly came close to her and look her dead in her eyes, I was really ruining this girl mood.
I was the Devil On Ice after all, I am ruthless on the ice and sometimes off it. It all depends on me and my mood of the day, and today was a**.
"Hey, Ja'lilia. Be aware that I'm competing in the senior division as of next year. We don't need someone as weak as you are in the same bracket as me. Crying over something like this...incompetents like you should just retire already...Stupid Idiot!" I said aggressively before walking away.
I didn't stay to hear her response or see her reaction. It's me stating facts to her that we don't need someone as soft hearted as she is on the ice and in the same bracket as me. Don't compare me to someone with less efforts as me.
I am better, and I am great, I am Skai Babicheva, I have a reputation to hold.
After that, since it was only me, and 2 of our seniors we all went to the lobby and to leave. Press was already surrounding the area since other skaters were leaving too. Probably gathering up for interviews or whatever.
'Ugh, I hate those annoying camera people and their little mics. Can't they take the hint and leave us alone.' I thought to myself as I seen some of the reporters and media gathering around second place winner Nia Blanchard and third place winner Emi Nakamura.
I seen not too far a familiar local reporter talking with Ja'lilia about her skating and if she going to continue and I'm just standing here waiting to leave. What's even the hold up?
"Yuna. Your free performance today, your step sequence you tried could use a little more-" I over heard someone familiar say just before getting cut off by the so called Kang Yuna.
"Whatever you say Choi..." Yuna says as they walk past with not a care in the world or who even noticing their conversation.
I did though. Kang Yuna has been my rival for the Junior Grand Prix for ages though, I'm supposed to debut before her. And the person that is talking about her free performance is the one and only Choi Kim, the world champion herself who is coached under the same person.
I'm not jealous. I just know I am better than her. But not Choi Kim, I will admit that.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I guess Kim felt the stare from me and turned to catch each others eyes. Ja'lilia was also beside me trying to get my attention for the past 15 minutes but I don't care. One day I will be at Kim, one day I will take that title as world champion!
"Ah a fan?" She asked.
Seems she is trying to ask me from a distance, as my usual self, I show a hard scold on my face and turn away leaving both my coach and 2 senior skaters behind with no other thought but getting better.
'So maybe I need to take a break from this season too to get better. More hardcore practices and more routines.' I thought to myself, ignoring the stare I am getting from the Champion herself.
