Chapter 7
Heather
I wake up alone in my room on my bed. I look around me, confused. I remember I was with Oliver, we were about to watch a movie. Then I got sick and threw up everywhere. I wonder what happened after my parents came in. Where is Oliver now?
I take out my phone and text Oliver, "Where r u?"
He doesn't take long to respond, "You threw up and passed out so your parents basically kicked me out". His message says, followed by 3 laughing emojis. I am not in the mood to laugh.
I remember Oliver's hand on mine then a memory of parker squeezes itself into my brain. I suddenly have the urge to check on my messages with Parker. I have I feeling that he said something and I want to check up on him. And I am right.
Hi, you might be wondering why I'm randomly texting you. I got a feeling that something was wrong, and I decided to check up on you. You okay?"
I did not expect a message like this from Parker. It feels so out of the blue that I'd probably need a moment to swallow it in. I think of what to say to him. I decide that I am going to tell him everything.
Me: hey im doing okay so far, feeling a bit sick today tho.
Parker opens the message almost Immediately as if he was waiting patiently for me to respond. I don't think he was though.
Parker
she finally replies and I get happy. Things won't be awkward between us anymore like I made them earlier. I'd finally talk to her like nothing's wrong. Maybe she'll be my friend and wont betray me. Maybe because of her the bullying will stop.
The drama is quietened down today. No one bats an eye in my direction and I can walk down the hallways freely without anyone bothering me. My eyes scan for Heather as usual and I find her by her locker, fixing her hair.
I suddenly have butterflies in my stomach as I hesitate whether to approach her or not. How will she react? Will she ignore me? Will she think I'm crazy just because I approach her a day after she texted me? Does she even want to be seen with me?
She turns her head makes eye contact with me and waves. I wave back and without hesitation I head in her direction. "
Hey." she greets me with a smile.
I always love it when girls smile. It clears up their complicated feelings towards something, but for some reason, when Heather does it, I am struck with a feeling of loyalty, warm and fuzzy.
Heather
I feel delighted when I see him staring at me in the hallway of school while I was getting stuff out of my locker. I don't know what's the stare supposed to mean, but it makes me happy that Parker lays his eyes on me when I wasn't looking.
We walk down the hallway together quietly, enjoying each others presence. I few students stare at our direction but I ignore it, and I'm sure Parker does too. The silence is comforting.
It feels like we're transported somewhere other than the school, just like how Parker said in his text message earlier, Like a spell has happened gluing both me and Parker together. Until it's broken by the school bell ringing indicating the start of first period.
"Hey Parker," I call out to him before we part. He fully faces me and lifts his eyebrows up, "Do you wanna sit with me during lunch time?" I ask.
Something shows on his face then disappears. "Sure." He says, his tone enthusiastic for the first time.
