Chapter 2
Parker
I stare at the text message that I just sent. Heather, that social butterfly who likes hanging out with everyone but doesn't have a lot of friends, I haven't talked to her, not once. In fact I haven't talked to anyone, I like sitting in the back of the class and reflect on my past. Paper and ink are the only things that understand me.
I secretly hope she doesn't reply as my eyes scan the screen for the bubble with the three dots they appear for a second then: k thanks. that's what I thought. I bet she doesn't even know who I am. Why did she even ask me? did she suspect that I might've stolen the answers to the exam? those questions roam around in my head until I drift to sleep on my father's couch.

I wake up to the sound of a car in the drive way, I don't know who it is, it might even be my dad for god sake. I run to the hallway to my room and wrap the heavy blankets around myself. I stay still as I wait to hear footsteps or any sign that someone's home. Then I hear my father's heavy breathing, and my heart rate does up. If he ever finds out that I slept in his couch he might beat me up, and I'm not ready for that. The door opens and there he is, angry and annoyed, but I notice this time there is something else, sympathy? sadness? I don't know. "What are you doing here?" he asks me in a breathy voice as if he is relived.
"just woke up" I tell him, he nods then leaves the room.

Heather
Today is the day where I go to school and check my results, its been 3 days since I've done my exam. I haven't talked to Olivia in the last three days, its alright though, this happens between us all the time, we stop talking via texts because of a little stupid fight then we get back to talking in school like nothing happened. I wake up and follow my morning routine like usual, fighting with my sister making breakfast nothing new.
when I head to school everyone is in a good mood which is a surprise to me. I look around me, my confused eyes sweeping the hallway full of smiley faces. Then I see Olivia running from a distance her straight blonde hair flying around her. she comes over to me, her expression is an echo of everyone's facial expression in the hallway.
"Do you know that weirdo named Parker?' she asks me practically beaming, I recognize that name, Parker, the boy I pranked yesterday, but I don't tell her that for some reason. I nod my quickly, feeling a little impatient to know the reason to everyone's great mood.
"Well, obliviously someone saw his father beating him up in his porch and they recorded the whole thing and posted it on YouTube. The video already got like a thousand views and the whole school saw it." Then she starts laughing, her laugh so loud it can probably be heard all the way to the end of the hallway.
I open my locker and dump all my books in there, not bothering to organize them. My head starts to hurt and suddenly I feel hot and start sweating I lay my forehead on the cold metal of the locker so it can cool me down. I close my eyes as I listen to everyone's laughter.
The bell rings and I jerk my head away from the cold metal and take out my history book and head to class. forgetting everything that has happened in the past minutes.
