Ice

I put down the file I was reading about the mission sighing in annoyance. Maybe I should have a night out, a last day of freedom before the mission.

With that in mind I took the files I needed and made my way to my room.

I was about to pass through the lobby when I hear nothing but silence. Huh I wasn't even there yet for that to happen.

I was just going to pass by when I heard an interesting conversation. I leaned on the wall crossing my arms holding onto the files listening.

Whenever a new agent comes in, the other agents always warn them of me. Makes it easier for me and them. Mostly for them.

Can’t wait to see what they’re going to tell him.

"It's because they never come back alive." I heard Phil whisper which a normal person wouldn't have heard from here.

I take the liberty to know who the agents are and rank. I know every agent in this society but they don't know it. They don’t need to.

I watched amused as Chris was processing what Phil just said "What?!”

"Why?! How? Never?!" he whispered the last part. Hmmm let’s have a little fun, haven't had any in a long time. I always have fun with the new agents before they have an undying fear for me, which ends my fun.

Lee opened her mouth to answer but I cut her off making my presence known.

"He doesn't really need to know now does he?" I asked and everyone turned to where I was leaning. Some paled and others looked everywhere but at me. No one wanted to make eye contact with me, they knew better. Let’s just say the last person who made eye contact challenging me ended up frozen for a week or was it two? I forgot. All I know is that they moved him to another society.

Chris walked over to me recovered from the shock that I was here for however long. "I think I do need to know." he crossed his arms making eye contact. It was clear in his eyes that he's challenging me. I'm going to let that pass since he doesn't know much yet.

I tilted my head acting curious. "Why’s that?” I asked in an innocent tone. I chuckled inwardly of course I know why he wants to know.

He frowned at my 'innocent' tone looking irritated. Huh looks like someone has a short temper, like father like son.

"Cause I want to make sure I come back from the missions in one piece and alive." he answered in an irritated tone.

 I chuckled "Don’t they all?"

He narrowed his eyes at me still making eye contact. I can tell everyone noticed since they were all holding their breaths. Come on people I'm not that heartless to hurt someone who doesn't know much yet. Okay no use lying to myself I am that heartless, I just want to play around.

"Are you the one killing them?" Okay not surprised at that thought. I would tell him the truth now but I'm having too much fun. I haven't had anyone to play around with since the last new agent.

"Now why on Earth would you think that I could and/or would do such a thing?" I asked in an 'innocent' tone.

"Now why on Earth would I think that you could and/or would do such a thing" he mimicked my tone raising an eyebrow.

"That’s what I asked." I shrugged. He frowned, he was trying to annoy me to bad he's the one who ended up annoyed. Poor guy..... Not.

"We both know why." he responded irritated yet again.

It’s so quiet that you can hear a pin drop a mile away. I'm not exaggerating about that, we agents have heightened senses from humans with our abilities plus we were trained to our fullest potential. So yes we can hear a pin drop from a mile some two me four since my abilities are stronger for a reason I don’t know.

The silence was broken by a dry humorous laugh. I stopped laughing and shook my head as he looked at me confused.

"Well I guess it’s only fair to warn you." I went back to my emotionless self, ending my games.

"So you do-"

"Oh honey I don't kill them, the mission does." I cut him off.

His accusing look went to a confusing one.

"How-" I cut him off once again.

"Cause they’re all weak. They're able to take care of themselves and rely on others." I said the last part bitterly.

"Isn't that why we have partners in the first place?” he retaliated confused yet angry at my reasons.

"Do you see me with a partner?"

He raised an eyebrow at me. I sighed, "Let me rephrase that, did you see me with a partner?”

"Well," I lifted myself off the wall. "I don't know about you but I've got places to be and things to do." I started walking out. "Hope you can look after yourself Flame, because I sure won't".

"Also you wouldn't want to make eye contact and challenge me next time." I stated walking away.

 I got ready for my night out. I'm thinking of going to my favorite human club.

If I go to one of the societies clubs than I won’t be having much fun since everyone will stay like 5 feet away from me since they all know what I'm capable of.

He’s the only one to actually come near me and bold enough to do it with me, he helps me with my needs, too bad he's not coming back till next week.  Till then I'll get a clueless human to help me with that. None of the other boys in this society would do it with me.

I got ready for the night and walked out into the night ignoring the lustful stares on my way to my car.

The poor girl.

I know you're probably thinking what?! Are you nuts!

I know what I'm saying. I have another power that I didn't even tell my parents about. Even if they have seen many crazy people of them, no one has ever had two powers well people anyway. I do not want to be experimented on.

I can feel and actually see a person's aura. I have special sight.

 I can see whether a person is consumed by darkness or light. Most people here are in the light, some in the middle, a little amount of people are in the dark yet not as much as Ice.

 She has the darkest aura around her. She can darken half a room and only with my sight you can see that. I know others feel it but can’t see since she influences other's auras when they're near her, like in the same room.

 She must've had a beyond horrible past for someone to be consumed by so much darkness. I'm surprised she hadn't lost herself yet.

It’s a gift and a curse to be able to know if someone is good or evil and feel their auras, especially the dark ones.

I'm know one thing during all this. I will do everything I can to save her from the darkness consuming her before she loses herself. She may look or actually be beyond saving but I won't give up so easily.

It’s the responsibility that comes with my power.

I need a drink. Where is the heck is the bar? How long have I been walking around?

"There you are." I jumped at the unexpected noise. I looked and saw it was just Phil and Lee.

"We thought she did something to you." Doesn't take a genius to figure out he's talking about ice. "Why?"

"Well not only did you make eye contact but you were basically challenged her." Lee responded.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Let’s just say the last person who did both of those ended up..."Phil trailed off.

"Cold." Lee finished for him. "Yeah we'll go with that." he commented.

I shook my head, "I don’t want to know."

"Anyway where are you going?" Lee asked. "Well I was trying to find the bar in this place." I rubbed the back of my neck.

Phil laughed, "Sure thing buddy." He put his arm around my shoulder.

"Buddy?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yep this is the start of a handsome friendship." he wiggled his eyebrows. I laughed at his choice of words.

"What are you saying we're not handsome?" he faked gasped.

"Oh no we are beyond handsome." I answered in a cocky tone and we both burst out laughing.

"Boys." Lee muttered walking away.

"Come on I'll give you a tour tomorrow." he started walking ahead of me.

"Why not now?" I asked.

He turned to me raising an eyebrow "Do you want to walk around and try to remember a bunch of rooms or do you want to have some fun?"

I shook my head at him "If you put it that way..... Lead the way."

"Thought so." he flashed a victory smile.
