⠀⠀⠀007⠀Two Roads Diverged

Space Girl, show me the stars. You know the galaxies of my heart.

Space Girl, Frances Forever

━━━━━━ September 25, 2149

CASEY HADN'T BEEN ABLE able to sleep again, but that was nothing new. She lay on her side, staring at the cot on the other side of the tent, untouched since Murphy... left. She blinked one, two, three, four times, trying to rid her tears, but they pooled at the edges and fell down her face.

⠀⠀⠀She rubbed her hands up her neck and chin, moving over her cheeks, dipping into her eyes, and circling up toward her forehead. The self-soothing practice continued four, eight, sixteen times before she could finally relax. Then, she'd stare at Murphy's cot too long, and it happened over until her hands turned red and raw.

⠀⠀⠀"Hey," Bellamy's voice broke the tense air.

⠀⠀⠀Casey didn't look to the entrance, finishing her ritual until she felt satisfied. Then, she cast her eyes towards Bellamy as he stood at the foot of Murphy's bed with a slight frown, worry in his brow.

⠀⠀⠀"Go away, asshole," Casey groaned, flipping onto her stomach and shoving her face into her jacket that she used as a pillow.

⠀⠀⠀"Casey," Bellamy sighed. "Have you seen Octavia?"

⠀⠀⠀Casey didn't move for a second before she slowly sat up, cross-legged on her cot. Concern filled her chest as she reflected on when she had last seen her friend.

⠀⠀⠀"No, not since she caught up to us in the woods," she explained with a frown. "Was she here when you came back?" she continued, pulling the blanket off her bare legs and standing. She pulled her pants on, and when she looked back at Bellamy, she saw that he was staring at the ceiling.

⠀⠀⠀"No," he muttered, glancing back at her when she was done. "Can you—Can you help me?"

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, of course," Casey assured him, holding her hand and tapping four times on the back of it. She wondered what could have happened to Octavia and hoped she hadn't run into a situation similar to Jasper's. Bellamy sighed in relief. Casey nodded awkwardly and held her hand out toward the opening of her tent. They stepped out, and she asked, "Have you checked with Clarke?"

⠀⠀⠀"No, not yet," he said. He walked to the tent next to Casey's and checked inside. No one was inside, so he stalked toward Clarke's tent at Casey's suggestion. He opened the tent and found her inside, wide awake. "You're up?" he asked.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah," Clarke said, crawling out of the tent and glaring at Bellamy with a fire behind her eyes. "Knowing that hundreds of people might be dying on the Ark makes it pretty hard to sleep."

⠀⠀⠀Exhausted and heartbroken, Casey snapped, "Clarke, stop acting like you're better than everyone because just a day ago, you had my best friend accused of murder without any proof or trial. You don't see me picking any fights!"

⠀⠀⠀"Casey," Bellamy said under his breath.

⠀⠀⠀He looked over at her, and she hated that she could read his simple glance so easily, requesting her to calm down. Casey frowned but knew this situation was more important. She raised her hands to show she backed down.

⠀⠀⠀"Have you seen Octavia?" Bellamy asked, turning back to Clarke.

⠀⠀⠀"No. I-It's Octavia. She's probably chasing butterflies," Clarke shrugged. Her face had turned a pretty shade of scarlet from Casey's reaming.

⠀⠀⠀"Oh, my God," Casey groaned, looking up at Bellamy. "Never mind, this is pointless."

⠀⠀⠀Bellamy glared at Casey, resting his hand on her shoulder to silently tell her to shut up.

⠀⠀⠀"Clarke, I've checked the camp. She's not here," Bellamy explained, calm but firm.

⠀⠀⠀"Okay, I'll help you find her. Let's check again," Clarke assured them. Her eyes flickered between the two anxiously. "You go to the dropship. Casey and I will check the rest of the tents."

⠀⠀⠀"Thank you, both of you," Bellamy said with a nod.

⠀⠀⠀Casey nodded back curtly.

⠀⠀⠀"Don't thank me. I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing it for Octavia," Clarke hissed, marching away.

⠀⠀⠀Bellamy sighed, likely exhausted as well. He squeezed Casey's shoulder once more before whispering another thank you, and they separated. Casey walked towards a tent, opening it to find Sterling and Diggs in their cots, talking. She smiled faintly at the two.

⠀⠀⠀"Hey," Casey greeted with an awkward wave. "Sorry, have you guys seen Octavia?"

⠀⠀⠀"No," Sterling said with a frown. "Why? What's happened?"

⠀⠀⠀Casey sighed, running a hand over her face. "I'm not sure. I went with Bellamy yesterday when he was looking for the radio, and she followed us. She headed here but apparently never made it."

⠀⠀⠀"I haven't seen her since yesterday morning when she was leaving," Diggs commented. "But we'll help however we can."

⠀⠀⠀"I'm glad to hear that," Bellamy said as he stepped into the tent beside Casey. "I'm setting up a search party."

⠀⠀⠀"You've got me," Diggs said with a nod, standing.

⠀⠀⠀Sterling hesitated a second as everyone stared at him, ready for his response.

⠀⠀⠀"Sterling?"

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, man," he agreed, holding his hand out. "I'll help."

⠀⠀⠀Bellamy caught his arm and held it, smiling. Then he said, "Great. Gather everyone to the middle of the camp so I can break down the situation."

⠀⠀⠀Casey, Sterling, and Diggs moved through the camp, telling the other delinquents that there was an emergency meeting around the campfire. Not surprisingly, most of them were wide awake. They were still determining if their flares had worked or if the Ark would know what they meant. All they could do was wait.

⠀⠀⠀Bellamy raised himself above the crowd as they stood in the middle of camp. "Hey, everybody, gather around and grab a weapon. My sister's been out there alone for twelve hours. Arm up. We're not coming back without her."

⠀⠀⠀The sleepy teens moved with panic at the thought of one of their own—especially Octavia—out in the woods alone. There had been too many casualties outside of camp to make anyone feel eased at the fate of Octavia. Jasper had been speared, Wells killed, Trina and Pascal got lost, and Atom was caught in the acid fog.

⠀⠀⠀Not many joined Bellamy's cause.

⠀⠀⠀"I never got your answer," Bellamy called, walking over to Casey.

⠀⠀⠀She grimaced. "Bellamy, Octavia is my friend, but if I go out there, I'm just gonna get in the way."

⠀⠀⠀"No, you're not—"

⠀⠀⠀"I am," Casey interrupted him. "I'm still pissed at you for everything that's happened the past two days, I've bottled it up for her sake, but I'm exhausted, and it's bound to come out."

⠀⠀⠀Bellamy frowned, likely thinking back to the river, and nodded.

⠀⠀⠀"Okay," he said quietly, leading the group out of camp.

⠀⠀⠀Casey let out a deep breath, her anger flowing with it.

⠀⠀⠀"You comin'?" Finn asked, coming up behind her with a spear.

⠀⠀⠀"Nah," Casey said dismissively. "I'd probably end up murdering him."

⠀⠀⠀"Well, you're probably right about that," he chuckled.

⠀⠀⠀"Octavia's strong. She'll be okay," Casey said out loud, not necessarily for Finn, but for herself.

⠀⠀⠀"Don't worry, Casey," Finn assured her teasingly, smirking ever so slightly. "I'll keep my eye on him," he claimed with a wink.

⠀⠀⠀"That's not—" she started to argue before her gaze was caught by light streaking across the night sky.

⠀⠀⠀"What is that?" someone shouted, pointing up at the sky. "It's so bright!"

⠀⠀⠀Hundreds of tiny tendrils of light fell against the sky, moving with the curvature rather than heading straight down like Raven's pod. It was beautiful, a meteor shower. If she had left it at that, maybe she would never realize what they were. But, her eyes widened, and her hand raised shakily to her lips in fear.

⠀⠀⠀"They didn't work," Raven realized, making her way to the center of the crowd. "They didn't see the flares."

⠀⠀⠀Casey could hardly focus. She heard Raven's words, but the meaning didn't sink in. She couldn't let herself think that her mom was one of those people sent down to Earth. It was too early.

⠀⠀⠀"A meteor shower tells you that?" Bellamy asked.

⠀⠀⠀Casey wished she was back at the river so she could drown Bellamy again and again.

⠀⠀⠀"It's not a meteor shower," Clarke told him harshly. "It's a funeral. Hundreds of bodies being returned to Earth from the Ark. This is what it looks like from the other side," she explained, her voice softening as she turned to Raven. "They didn't get our message."

⠀⠀⠀Casey wished she had drowned Clarke when she had the chance.

⠀⠀⠀"This is all because of you!" Raven screamed, drawing closer as she tried to lunge at Bellamy.

⠀⠀⠀Casey could feel her bones, muscles, and soul become weary in a matter of seconds. Her eyes closed, lashes brushing against her cheeks as she whispered the prayer to the bodies falling back to Earth.

⠀⠀⠀In peace, may you leave this shore.

⠀⠀⠀"I helped you find the radio," Bellamy said.

⠀⠀⠀In love, may you find the next.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, after you jacked it from my pod and trashed it!" Raven rebutted.

⠀⠀⠀Safe passage on your travels until our final journey to the ground.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, he knows," Clarke said bluntly.

⠀⠀⠀May we meet again.

⠀⠀⠀"Now he has to live with it," Clarke finished.

⠀⠀⠀Casey opened her eyes and rolled her shoulders sixteen times before hearing the bones pop. Finally, she returned her attention to the bickering group with a frown but wasn't in the mood to join.

⠀⠀⠀"All I know is that my sister is out there, and I'm gonna find her," Bellamy told Clarke sternly, turning to Finn. "You coming or what?"

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah," Finn nodded.

⠀⠀⠀"What are we waiting for? Move out!" Bellamy shouted, leaving the campfire and the hate-filled gazes of the enemies he had made.

⠀⠀⠀"Be careful," Casey said to Finn as he went to leave. The two weren't close, but she appreciated the effort he put into making sure she was okay time and time again.

⠀⠀⠀"Will do, boss," Finn nodded with a chuckle, saluting her.

⠀⠀⠀"We have to talk to them," Clarke interrupted, catching their attention before everyone separated. "Three hundred won't be enough. The oxygen level will just keep dropping, and if we don't tell them that they can survive down here, they'll kill more people. They have to."

⠀⠀⠀"Are you an engineer now, too?" Casey asked, raising a brow. Even if what Clarke sounded factually correct, Casey couldn't help but pull her leg after all the know-it-all stuff she'd spouted.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke sent her a glare. "No, but my father was, and if his figures were right, then what I said was true."

⠀⠀⠀Jasper glanced nervously between the girls before saying, "Guys... They're leaving. We gotta go."

⠀⠀⠀"I gotta do this," Finn told Raven with a slight frown. "And you should stay and fix the radio, okay?"

⠀⠀⠀"Fix it?" Raven asked, exasperated. "The transmitter's smashed. Unless there's a parts depot down here, we're not talking to the Ark."

⠀⠀⠀"Art supply store," Clarke said suddenly, catching Finn's gaze. She quickly turned to Raven and continued, "I know a place where you might be able to get a transmitter."

⠀⠀⠀"Great. It looks like you're coming with me instead," Raven smiled.

⠀⠀⠀"Be careful," Finn told her, then asked Casey, "Make sure she doesn't die?"

⠀⠀⠀"As long as she'll have me," Casey said.

⠀⠀⠀"The more the merrier," Raven said.

⠀⠀⠀As Finn headed out, Raven called him back before launching herself into his arms and kissing him quickly. "I love you."

⠀⠀⠀Casey noticed the hesitancy before he said, "I love you, too."

⠀⠀⠀The boys waved goodbye and made to follow after Bellamy. Clarke led them to the edge of the woods opposite Octavia's search party and called out, "It's this way."

⠀⠀⠀Casey frowned, realizing too late that she wouldn't just be spending her time with Raven but Clarke, too.

RAVEN, CASEY, AND CLARKE walked through the dark forest. It was terrifying to be out on their own without any light. Raven might not be used to what the Earth held, but Casey feared their adventure with Jasper would just repeat itself.

⠀⠀⠀"How did you guys find this bunker?" Raven asked, easing their minds of the forest.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke hesitated a second before answering, "Finn had found it a couple days ago when he was out scoping the woods."

⠀⠀⠀Raven's expression flickered, her brows edging closer together. She wasn't distrusting of what Clarke said or her boyfriend's actions, but there was something Clarke was obviously avoiding.

⠀⠀⠀"And you?" Raven asked.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke looked back to glance at Raven with a deep frown. Her eyes darted to Casey before returning back to the road ahead. Then, she said, "We were protecting a little girl from... this guy who was hell-bent on killing her."

⠀⠀⠀Casey squeezed her hands together, digging her nails into the palms of her hands as Clarke spoke of Murphy so passively. Casey regretted ever agreeing to go on this trip. Why did Finn ask her? She should've gone with Bellamy. At least he had a little more tact regarding the matter of things. He apologized for crying out loud. She was a hair's breadth from turning around and returning to camp alone.

⠀⠀⠀"Oh, that's... something. Why was he trying to kill her?" Raven asked.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke hesitated, and Casey answered, "It's a long story."

⠀⠀⠀"Well, we're on a long journey," Raven chuckled but soon realized neither was laughing. She trailed off nervously and continued, "Is he still at camp? I understand you guys don't want to talk about it, but I'd rather keep my distance."

⠀⠀⠀"He's not at camp anymore. He was banished," Casey said sharply, not at all reassuring.

⠀⠀⠀As they continued, the conversation grew lighter between Casey and Raven. They talked about their lives on the Ark. Casey grew up in Farm Station, while Raven was from Mech Station. They both had close relationships with people that later became closer than family. However, Casey didn't mention that Murphy was the same person who had been banished. They talked so much that it began to annoy Clarke. Her shoulders tensed, and she looked back every few seconds, typically when Raven started talking.

⠀⠀⠀"So, you and Finn are dating, right?" Casey asked.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah," Raven said with a wide grin. "It's so crazy, y'know? He was going to get his judgment in a couple of months and most likely floated, but now he's alive!" she laughed excitedly.

⠀⠀⠀Casey found it cute how much Raven loved Finn. They had known each other for a long time and did seem like the perfect pair: the crazy scientist and the affable adventurer. However, Casey was slightly disappointed. She couldn't lie to herself that meeting Raven for the first time didn't put a shock to her senses. Raven was attractive with her bright smile and no-nonsense attitude. But, the feeling was only physical and Casey could live with having an attractive friend.

⠀⠀⠀"I know what you mean," Casey sighed, releasing her nails from her palms. "I was supposed to get floated the day we dropped down here."

⠀⠀⠀"You must be a good luck charm. No wonder Finn's stayed alive so long," Raven said with a smirk.

⠀⠀⠀"You're eighteen?" Clarke asked.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah," Casey responded curtly.

⠀⠀⠀Raven paused as a bush of blooming orange flowers caught her eye. The sun was beginning to come up, and she smiled at the first sign of nature's beauty. She raised her hand to the flower and caressed the underside with a faint smile.

⠀⠀⠀"Woah, they're so beautiful," she breathed.

⠀⠀⠀Casey stood beside her, analyzing the flower, before saying, "It's an orange lily. They symbolize confidence and pride."

⠀⠀⠀"Oh, really? I thought flowers usually meant love or something," Raven said thoughtfully.

⠀⠀⠀"Sometimes, but there are a lot of flowers, and they have lots of meanings," Casey said.

⠀⠀⠀"Casey, Raven," Clarke snapped, similar in tone to when she had done the same on the way to Mount Weather. She turned to Raven with a scowl and continued, "I know you just got here yesterday, but we don't have time for this. Come on."

⠀⠀⠀Casey rolled her eyes. Her hand rested beneath one of the flowers and plucked it. She grinned and held it out to Raven, who smiled and held it softly between her fingers.

⠀⠀⠀"The old world is dead. I think flowers deserve new meanings," Casey stated. "The orange lily now represents the beginning of friendship."

⠀⠀⠀"I like that," Raven said with a sweet smile, twirling the flower between her fingers. She sighed, looking to find Clarke, but she had hardly stormed off. "Come on, before we lose her."

⠀⠀⠀The pair caught up with Clarke, Raven calling after her, "Hurry up and save the world. You're just like your mom."

⠀⠀⠀"I'm nothing like my mom," Clarke denied immediately.

⠀⠀⠀"Relax, that's a compliment. Abby's a badass," Raven claimed, dismissing Clarke's annoyance for something else. "The pod was her idea. It broke her heart not being able to come down with me, but she never stopped believing you were alive."

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah," Clarke sighed. "Mother of the year."

⠀⠀⠀"Well, my mom was AWOL most of my life. When she did show up, it was empty-handed. Pretty sure she had me just to trade in my rations for moonshine," Raven said.

⠀⠀⠀She was trying to show Clarke that, by comparison, Abby was good to Clarke. Although, in this instance, Casey could understand Clarke's frustration. No one knew the extent of Clarke's relationship with her mother beside her. And while it might not be as bad as Raven's relationship with her own mother, it didn't invalidate Clarke's experience.

⠀⠀⠀"How'd you survive?" Clarke asked as she stopped in the middle of the forest. She leaned down and pulled open a hidden hatch in the ground.

⠀⠀⠀"Boy next door," Raven mused, looking down at the lily with a smile. "He shared his rations. Remembered my birthday. Saved my life. He's my family."

⠀⠀⠀"It's good that you have him," Casey said softly.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke stepped down the ladder, followed by Raven and Casey. Jumping down into the art supply store, her nose was immediately filled with dust from years of disuse. She sneezed as Clarke began to light candles. As the room brightened, they could move around and look through the shelves, boxes, and anything that could have a transmitter.

⠀⠀⠀"What about you?" Raven asked Casey from across the table. There was a twinkle in her eye as she asked, "Do you have mommy issues, also?"

⠀⠀⠀"No," Casey chuckled.

⠀⠀⠀"My mom is the most important person to me. She's... She's my best friend, and I just want to be able to talk to her again. It's just me, her, and John."

⠀⠀⠀"So, daddy issues, then?" Raven continued.

⠀⠀⠀"Can you have issues over someone you never met?" Casey asked with a laugh.

⠀⠀⠀"I guess you have a point," Raven shrugged.

⠀⠀⠀"Hey, will this work?" Clarke called, holding up a toy car with an antenna towards them.

⠀⠀⠀Raven looked over, a wide grin spreading across her face as she bounced over to Clarke. She took the car out of her hands and flipped it on its back.

⠀⠀⠀"Sweet!" she exclaimed, pointing at the embossed writing. "RF, radio frequency. If we can just find the controller, we'll be golden!"

⠀⠀⠀"Alright," Clarke nodded.

⠀⠀⠀Raven was closer to Casey again as they began looking for the controller. Raven bent down, digging through the things that had fallen on the ground when she grabbed something.

⠀⠀⠀"Finn made this," Raven claimed, holding up a small two-headed deer figurine so Casey could see.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke looked back to see what Raven was talking about. Her eyes landed on the deer before she quickly turned away in embarrassment.

⠀⠀⠀"Oh, uh, yeah, we saw this two-headed deer our first day on the ground. Remember, Casey?" Clarke stuttered out.

⠀⠀⠀Casey nodded her head awkwardly, not in the mood for reminiscing. She glanced at Raven, noticing the frown on her face as she stared at the figurine. Her left hand moved to her shirt as she pulled out the necklace, where a similar-styled crane rested on a chain. Raven stared at the two for a moment before her eyes snapped to meet Casey's, her jaw clenched.

⠀⠀⠀Casey kneeled beside her and whispered, "What's wrong?"

⠀⠀⠀"Got it!" Clarke cheered, interrupting the tension.

⠀⠀⠀Raven took a second to compose herself before standing and heading over to Clarke. Casey followed warily. She wasn't sure what was going through Raven's head and didn't want to be in the middle of nowhere she reacted.

⠀⠀⠀"Finn always does that. Find the beauty in the unexpected," Raven stated. Clarke's face turned sheet white as if her words had venom, and Casey finally understood. Finn had cheated on her.

⠀⠀⠀"Good to go?" Clarke asked stiffly.

⠀⠀⠀"Hurry up and save the world, right?" Raven repeated herself, tenser this time. "Yeah, we're good."

⠀⠀⠀Clarke nodded her head and moved to the hatch. She climbed up with Casey behind her. She stopped as Raven walked back into the hatch, making her way to where the two-headed deer lay, and blew out the candle.

WHEN THE GIRLS RETURNED to camp, Raven immediately let Clarke know that she was going to start working on the radio and asked for no interruptions. She then pushed Casey along with her and said she'd need help if she wanted the process to go smoothly. Clarke watched them leave with her jaw dropped and brows furrowed, but Raven was quick to avoid her.

⠀⠀⠀Inside the work tent, Raven snapped the cloth entrance shut and turned to Casey with wide eyes. Casey stared back, a little confused by Raven's panicked nature, but she didn't have to wait long for Raven to explain.

⠀⠀⠀"Has Clarke been seeing anyone in camp?" Raven asked, storming over to the work table.

⠀⠀⠀"Seeing anyone?" Casey repeated, scoffing. "Not unless you count her flirting with the end of my knife."

⠀⠀⠀Raven glanced at her and frowned. "You don't like her," she realized.

⠀⠀⠀Casey clenched her hands into fists and worked her jaw as she thought of how to respond.

⠀⠀⠀"The boy who was banished was my brother," Casey stated.

⠀⠀⠀"Really?" Raven asked, surprised.

⠀⠀⠀"No, like—like how Finn's your family," Casey explained. Raven looked away quickly. "He did what Clarke said, but she forgot to mention that she was the spark that caused everything to go downhill. She blamed him with little evidence. They tried to hang him before Finn saved his life... and I know what he did was wrong, but it could've all been avoided if it weren't for her."

⠀⠀⠀Raven's hand stilled over the back of the toy truck. She stared blankly at the air between them before saying softly, "I think Finn is cheating on me."

⠀⠀⠀"With Clarke?" Casey asked.

⠀⠀⠀"Yeah. He made this in that bunker," Raven explained, setting the two-headed deer on the table so Casey could see. "He's made a hundred little things but only the crane for me."

⠀⠀⠀Casey stared at the deer figurine, not knowing the words that could comfort her. So, they passed the time in silence. Raven focused on getting the radio to work while every once in a while asking Casey if she could pass her a tool. Neither of them kept time in the dreadful silence, it could have been three hours that passed when Clarke walked in to greet them.

⠀⠀⠀"How's it coming?" Clarke asked but was met with silence.

⠀⠀⠀Casey looked up from where she sat at the end of the table, wary of how Raven would react. Raven scowled at the sound of Clarke's voice with the comfort of not being seen. She didn't move, but her eyes did catch Casey's. Casey rolled her eyes right in front of Clarke, which made Raven smile slightly.

⠀⠀⠀"Are you okay?" Clarke asked. She hadn't noticed Casey's show, focused solely on Raven. She was once again met by silence and laughed to fill it. She took a hesitant step forward and continued, "You hardly said a word the whole way back from the bunker. Raven—"

⠀⠀⠀Raven stood, fed up, and pushed the two-headed deer in Clarke's face.

⠀⠀⠀"Tell me I'm wrong," Raven snapped forcefully. The knowing look that crossed Clarke's face told them both exactly what she knew. "Tell me Finn didn't make this for you. Tell me you weren't screwing my boyfriend as I was risking my ass to come down here."

⠀⠀⠀Clarke's eyes were wide and already brimming with tears as she searched for something, anything, to assure Raven of what happened between them. Finally, she sighed, pushing her hair back, and said, "I can't tell you that."

⠀⠀⠀"He made one for me, too," Raven stated, pulling out the chain with the folded crane. "Just in case you thought you were special."

⠀⠀⠀Raven turned back to her work. Her gaze caught Casey's once more as the emotional weight on her shoulders flowed between them. They waited for Clarke to leave, but she stood by the entrance, simmering. Her fists clenched together, and her bleeding heart craved assurance. She hoped to garner sympathy from Casey, but that bridge was burned, and she could swim to the other side alone.

⠀⠀⠀"Do you think I wanted this?" Clarke asked desperately. Casey was surprised that Clarke was looking at her, too. She didn't mean just her relationship with Finn, but what she had started with Murphy. She turned to Raven, knowing there was still a thread between them. "I didn't even know you existed. Look, as far as he knew, you were dead. Or you would be soon enough. My mom and everyone we ever knew on the Ark. There was nothing we could do to stop it."

⠀⠀⠀Raven turned to look at her sharply. "He could've waited more than ten days.

⠀⠀⠀Then, she was back to work.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke sighed, defeated, and turned to leave when Raven called out one final question: "Do you love him?"

⠀⠀⠀There was a sinking pause.

⠀⠀⠀"I hardly know him."

⠀⠀⠀Clarke left, and Raven sat back in her chair, tired. She ripped her necklace off with the force of a desperate woman. Tears streamed down her face, and Casey moved to hug her as Raven's heart broke for the second time.

"CLARKE!"

⠀⠀⠀Jasper stormed through the front gates desperately. The camp moved around him fluidly, swarming him at the entrance as Casey and Raven ran out of the tent instantly. They forced the crowd to move like a parting sea and found Jasper holding an unconscious Finn upright. A knife stuck out of his side, and dread filled the entire camp.

⠀⠀⠀Clarke barged through, moving people out of her way, as she ordered, "Get him into the dropship and clean the wound, but do not remove the knife!"

⠀⠀⠀"Clarke!" Raven shouted frantically. "Can you save him?"

⠀⠀⠀"No," Clarke said bluntly, turning to her. "Not me. I need my mother. I need to talk to her."

⠀⠀⠀"There's still no radio," Raven explained, running her hand through her hair out of frustration.

⠀⠀⠀"Raven, fix it! Go!"
