Fall into Madness

Long ago, before Alice had arrived in Wonderland, another human had suddenly appeared. A young man with blue hair and blue eyes. No one knows how he found his way into their world, but he would soon become known as the Mad Hatter. Everything about what this boy was like before his fall into madness was completely unknown.

Except for the wisest being in their world, the Caterpillar. After all, there was nothing he didn't know and he remembered everything. Especially the day he met Tamaki.

Today was just not Tamaki's day, everything had been normal until he fell into a hole by a tree. He had fallen by accident, he noticed the hole too late. After the longest fahe found himself in a room full of doors and honestly, he didn't want to even start figuring out how he managed to get out. That was the part he didn't fully understand.

Right now though, he was face to face with what appeared to be some woods, some very deep and dark woods. Tamaki was very much afraid of the dark and unfortunately, it was looking like he'd have to face his fear as there didn't seem to be any other way but through those woods.

"Why me..what did I ever do to be stuck in this situation.." he wondered to himself as he began slowly walking through the woods. They were so dense that barely any light shone through. That was just how dark it was, even though it was day time.

The further he went into the woods, the more it seemed like he was getting lost. At one point he considered just going back the way he came and walk around the woods instead. But he had strayed from the path. Now he really was lost.

"My my, what do we have here? An outsider from the world not like ours. And you've gone and gotten yourself lost within the woods we call home. Didn't you see the path?"

The sudden voice startled Tamaki and he began looking around when he spotted a part of the woods that seemed a little more lit up. He could actually see pretty clearly, which was a relief. What he didn't expect was to see a man with white hair sitting in a giant mushroom. He had some sort of item that he would occasionally put up to his mouth, inhale and then exhale blue-purple smoke.

"W-Who are you..? And where am I?!"

"My name is Sogo, though to everyone else I'm known as the Caterpillar, the wisest being in our world. This is Wonderland. You must have fallen down the rabbit hole, it's the only way people have found their way here."

"Wonderland..Caterpillar? Okay, I'm understanding nothing you're saying. Just..how do I get back home?" Sogo tilted his head as he took another breath from his hookah and blew out the smoke. "You're quite rude, I introduce myself and you skip over yours. Right to the questions. No wonder I don't socialize, it's clear no one has manners anymore."

The blue haired boy sighed deeply, "My name is Tamaki Yotsuba. Now will you please help me, So-chan?" He couldn't help but give the other a nickname, it was just something he did. Besides it didn't seem like Sogo minded as he laughed a little while smiling.

"No one has really managed to return to the other world before. Only the White Rabbit goes between our world and the other world. But even then, he lives here and not there. As this is his home. But if you want to return so badly, I suppose I can help." The Caterpillar got off the mushroom he was sitting on and approached Tamaki.

"I seriously don't understand what you're saying, well, not entirely at least. Can you make more sense maybe?"

"I could but where's the fun in that? Besides, I'm not the only one in Wonderland who makes no sense. After all, we're all mad here." Sogo smiled before looking at Tamaki seriously. "Also a warning, if you fall into madness while here, you can't return home. Only Wonderland is home for the mad, the other world has no place for people like us. So never stray from the path."

Hearing the warning made Tamaki worry a little. All he had to do was stay from the path Sogo set him on. He supposed that if he didn't, he'd get lost and eventually give into the madness of Wonderland. "I won't, don't worry. I'd rather go home than stay stuck in this world of madness. No offense."

"None taken, we know we aren't very sane, but we don't very much care that we are mad either. Now follow me, I'll see that you start on the right path, but the rest is up to you."

The two set off into the woods, Sogo had led him back to the path. He actually hadn't been too far off from it. Sogo stuck with Tamaki until they got to what seemed to be many crossroads. There was many signs pointing in various directions, he could guess it was meant to confuse people, so they wouldn't know which way to go.

"Follow this path and eventually you'll find the way back to your home. Unfortunately I cannot accompany you the rest of the way. It was nice meeting you Tamaki, I'm not sure if you'll remember me or this place. But I hope you get back safely."

"I'd rather not remember this confusing place but, I won't forget you, So-chan. I guess this is goodbye." Tamaki waved his hand before following the path Sogo had pointed to. He did turn around to see if Sogo was still there watching him walk away, but he had disappeared. "Bye So-chan..Thanks for all your help."

After a few minutes of walking through the woods, following the path Sogo had set him on, he heard a laugh up in the trees. He immediately stopped walking and looked around, "Who's there? I know you're not So-chan, so who are you!"

"Haha, 'So-chan'? Is that supposed to be some cutesy nickname for that annoying Caterpillar? He's such a downer, no fun at all." A man suddenly appeared, sitting on a tree branch and looking down at Tamaki. He sat there grinning widely as Tamaki flared up at him.

"Don't talk badly about So-chan! Now tell me who you are!"

"The Cheshire Cat, though my real name is Yamato. Call me whatever you want though, everyone does, it doesn't bother me much anymore. People just don't understand me, maybe because I'm mad. Or maybe because they're not mad enough."

"Tch, whatever, so what do you want? I'm trying to return home."

"Return home? Well if that's the case you're going the wrong way. Isn't it questionable as to if this is even the right path or not? He isn't even here to properly guide you. But then again, no one has ever managed to get back, I mean, who would? You can do whatever you want here, live life your way."

"As tempting as that is, I trust So-chan and I'm going home. He said to follow this path."

"How will you do that, if the path is gone?" Yamato smiled before disappearing. The last thing he said confused Tamaki, the path was right there on the ground for him to follow. Or so he thought. When he looked down, he noticed the path really was gone.

"W-What?! But..how?! How will I get back now..? I can't find my way back either! Okay..Just, just calm down.." Tamaki took a deep sigh. If he remembered correctly, the path was still heading straight. So if he kept going straight, he'd hopefully find his way again or maybe someone else to help.

But there was no one else around and nor did he find his way back home. He had gotten lost in the woods of Wonderland and slowly lost hope, giving into the madness of the strange world he was now stuck in.

Years after that unfortunate day, Tamaki had become the Mad Hatter, he had been exiled after some time due to trying to force people to buy his hats. Nowadays he was found at the Mad tea party, along with the Dormouse and March Hare. Honestly, he didn't mind how things were.

Though after so much time had passed, he had forgotten about what he was like before becoming the Mad Hatter. Not that he cared to remember, as he had thrown away his memories of his own accord.

Today wasn't like any other day for him, because today he was going to see Sogo again. In the beginning the other had avoided Tamaki, probably out of guilt, as he hadn't been able to save Tamaki from falling into madness. At first the blue haired boy held it against him. But after getting used to his new life he forgave him and told him to forget about it. After some time they managed to fix their relationship, they were good friends now.

Though Tamaki could never get Sogo to socialize more. He had to either go find the Caterpillar himself or wait until March Hare and Dormouse weren't present at the tea party. Which was rare. Either way, Sogo wouldn't appear unless it was only the two of them.

"We really need to set up a proper meeting place, So-chan." Tamaki stated as he approached Sogo who was sitting on a giant mushroom as usual. "It'd be easier than trying to locate you most of the time."

"I apologize Tamaki." Sogo replied. "Hmm, maybe meeting at your house would suffice. I don't have anything to make tea with at my home. But I'm sure you do. I swear you three have become addicted to tea, it's all you drink."

"Heh, well we are the mad tea party after all~ But yeah, my house will work. We can set up a timeframe for you to come visit later. For now, let's have some tea!" Tamaki cheered as he waved his hand, a teapot and two teacups appeared out of nowhere. Both grabbing a cup as the Mad Hatter poured them some tea.

"You know, Tamaki. Today is the exact day you wandered into Wonderland all those years ago." Sogo started as he took a sip of his tea.

"Really? Should we celebrate then?"

"Don't you and those two already celebrate enough? Unbirthdays right? Besides I don't know how I feel about celebrating that day.."

"So-channn~ I told you before, stop blaming yourself for what happened. It was my fault for falling for Yama-san's trick. Besides I heard you really gave him a piece of your mind. For once he was actually terrified of something. You can be scary whenever you're angry."

"He got what he deserved. But it won't stop him from interfering, it never has, no matter what anyone says or does to prevent him from messing around."

"Well at least you're around to put him back in line if he takes things too far. You're a good person, So-chan."

Sogo smiled at Tamaki, he was glad that even though the other was lost to madness due to him not saving him in time, Tamaki was still the same kind person deep down. In the end, he was happy knowing the blue haired boy had decided to stay, had forgiven him for his mistake and would never forget about him.
