hour uno

Yoohee laid her head back onto the seat, her eyes closed, and ears focused on the music coming through the headphones.

My Kind Of Woman by Mac Demarco.

She always loved the old-timey vibes in these type of songs. It made her yearn for adventure, for someone to drive along the coast of a beach in a jeep while she hung her body outside the window and feel the wind blow.

The song stopped and her eyes fluttered open, seeing the dark cabin of the airplane. The seat beside hers was empty, and she was praying that the doors would soon close. It would signify that nobody is sitting there and she would have all the space in the world to stretch and do whatever she wanted.

For a 14 hour flight, you'd think she'd prepare something to watch, or do, but she didn't. She usually just bought whatever movies were being played on the plane screen, and download games during the flight to play. She was not one to plan; she liked to live in the moment.

Jimin was glad that the plane wasn't full. A few empty seats were sprinkled around here and there. It lifted a weight off of his chest, since it mean't less of a chance of him encountering a fan, and more time to get some rest.

Being on a plane felt like second nature to him. He had a book prepared to read. He specifically chose to sit next to Namjoon (the easiest person to talk to about anything), and he brought headphones to listen to music or watch a predownloaded movie.

Yet Jimin felt uninterested in doing any of those things. Instead, his eyes unintentionally wandered the plane, looking for something.

After the awkward encounter with the
strange girl, they immediately started boarding the flight. He himself witnessed the girl enter the same plane, so she must have been here somewhere. Once he realized what he was unconsciously doing, he smiled at an idea that popped in his head. He was going to find her.

Jimin had no idea why he wanted to, or what he planned on doing when he did find the stranger, but all his mind wanted him to do was see her. Something about her personality was intriguing. She seemed fearless in the most idiotic ways.

He got up, and went to Sejin to ask if he could wander the cabin.

"No." Sejin's answer was firm. He continued reading his magazine as Jimin looked at him with big saucers for eyes.

With one look from mochi chimchim, Sejin reluctantly agreed but warned him to get back as soon as possible. He didn't want to make a scene on a flight where they would be stuck with the same people for hours.

Jimin bowed and said a string of thank you's before putting up his hood and walking down the aisle. He made sure to keep his head down, but his eyes were looking intensely from person to person to find the girl.

He was beginning to lose hope, since there were only so few rows left to search. But he didn't give up, so he walked to the very end to see a girl staring out the window. Her. And an empty aisle seat next to her.

Score.

He plopped himself down, causing her to jump and face him. Her expression went from confused, to utter disgust. She took off her headphones, and sighed with an annoyed tone,

"Oh no."

"Oh yes."

"I could have sworn the doors closed a long time ago," Yoohee mumbled to herself. She doubted the legitimacy of him, the same man who bombarded her hotel room and ended up staying in the one next door, coincidentally be sat next to her, "This is your seat?"

"Uh-Yeah! Yeah, this is my seat." His hesitation at first made Yoohee even more suspicious, but she didn't say anything; there was no use. Jimin shifted in his seat nervously, until he mentally kicked himself for acting so coy.

Act cool. Be chill.

"How's life treated you since the last time I saw you?" Jimin was biting back a smile that threatened to show when he asked the question. It was so casual, as if he had known her for years.

"You mean 5 minutes ago? What kind of question is that?" Yoohee held no expression, and if anything, sounded irritated.

"Your mood gets a hundred times better once you see me huh?" Jimin leaned into Yoohee's side with a cute smirk on his face. He turned to Yoohee, crossing his arms and resting them along the length of the armrest.

"I think my life gets a hundred times worse every time you enter it," Yoohee picked up the headphones in her lap and attempted to put them on. She seemed done with this conversation  and wanted to ignore the idiot next to her. Before they reached her ear, Jimin grabbed her arm and stopped her.

"I just have one question," Jimin looked serious. It was the first time Yoohee had seen a side of him that wasn't lighthearted, which caught her attention, "What made you think it was a good idea to sleep when three strangers were hovering over your bed?"

"Oh my god, what are you? My mother?" Yoohee rolled her eyes and tried to put on her headphones, but Jimin pulled down her arm once again.

"I'm not trying to scold you, I'm seriously curious as to what made you do that? Daddy issues or...?" Yoohee immediately slapped his arm, with an offended look.

"What the hel- No! What makes you think you could just ask me that? The fuck is wrong with you..." Yoohee's voice trailed off, and contemplated another attempt at putting on her headphones, but Jimin's hand was still on her arm.

His curious eyes still stared at her. She closed her eyes and shrunk into her seat. She decided to give up trying to distract herself with music and instead try to fall asleep.

He must be insane. He had no sense of personal space, or common decency, or any sense of what was socially acceptable to say. It was like he was a robot, programmed to just be a cocky little shit with no space for any other type of knowledge.

She opened her eyes just enough for her to see him. He still hung there, his expression the same. He resembled a puppy waiting for a treat. She groaned and tossed her head back before scratching the back of it in annoyance. He wasn't going to stop looking at her that way any time soon unless she answered him, and she was fully aware of that.

"I don't know, ok? I guess I didn't care? I mean, what's the worst you guys could have done?" Jimin gave a rebuking look, not wanting to say out loud what he was thinking. But Yoohee knew exactly where Jimin's mind was going, "Ok, but like, you didn't so what's the problem? Even if any of you tried anything on me I would have kicked your guys dicks and ripped yo-"

"Ok ok ok, I get the idea." Jimin shook his hands in front of his face to indicate his discomfort, "it's so strange that this is how our conversation is going when it's the first time we've really talked."

Jimin lightly laughed, before clearing his throat at the heavy air between them. The plane engines revved up, and slowly, the ground started to move below them.

Yoohee moved toward the window, and watched as the lights that lined the runway, flash for only a second before moving on to the next. The runway was a bit rough, so Yoohee's tiny stature was tousled around like she was on a rollercoaster. Yoohee let out a little yelp when the wheels lifted off the ground, catching Jimin's attention.

Jimin found the sight absolutely adorable. It was strange to him, how someone who acted so tough and reckless, could be such a squish.

"It's cool isn't it?" Jimin asked, feeling as if he was talking to a child. Yoohee hummed in response, her eyes still trying to take in the beautiful scenery growing tiny below her, "I lost the thrill of being in the sky a long time ago. But the sights outside the window were always new, and beautiful, regardless of the place."

This was the first time Yoohee heard this kind of sentimental and vulnerable emotion from Jimin. The tone of voice from him was new, but oddly familiar.

She faced Jimin with an expression he'd never seen before from her. He couldn't put his finger on what it mean't.

"You know, I don't even know your name, and this is, what? The 5th time I've had an encounter with you?"

"5th?" Her mind wandered off to the times she's bumped into him. She could only remember 3 other times before the plane ride.

"Yeah, first being in your hotel room, second was my hotel room, then on the balconies-"

"So it was you on the balconies!"

It all connected in her brain now. The voice directly matched his, the shadowed figure resembled his soft features yet toned structure. Remembering the conversation she had with him that night made her loosen up. The conversation made her feel... warm. For once, she didn't want to die from being forced into a conversation with him.

"Yeah, couldn't you tell?" The words broke through Yoohee's train of thought, and intense stare at Jimin

"It was kind of hard to tell in the dark."

"I bet I was just too sexy for you to recognize me," Jimin joked, completely flatlining the pulse of the conversation.  Yet to his surprise, Yoohee laughed. Obnoxiously loud at that.

"You? Sexy?" Yoohee could barely get the words out, having to take deep breaths before every word to accommodate the laughter that came with it, "That's probably the funniest joke I've ever heard!"

Jimin found her laugh horrendous. It was like a whale gasping for air. In an attempt to stop her endless laughter, she held her breath, resulting in her snorting. She quickly covered her mouth and mumbled a sorry to Jimin and everyone around her.

"What in the world was that laugh?" Jimin looking revolted at what he had witnessed. He sent her a stare of disgust, exaggerated to show how he was kidding.

"Hey, shut up." Her words were jumbled together as if she was high, high off laughter. She lightly pushed Jimin's shoulder, making his appearance soften. She attempted to look serious, but a tiny smile was apparent on her lips from her giggly mood. Jimin noticed, and one crept onto his face too, but he brought his head down before she could see. She was too distracted in trying to calm herself down. She struggled, but somehow managed to pull herself back together.

"You still haven't answered my question," Jimin stated. Yoohee looked to him, confused. Jimin sighed and brought his head back up to her, "Your name is ...?"

"Ohhh, Baek Yoohee. And you?"

Jimin raised his eyebrows, wondering how she didn't know. Even if she didn't know who he was through his fame, which was made very clear by her blunt statement nights before, Sejin briefly mentioned it a few nights before.

"You really don't know?" Jimin's cocky statement made Yoohee roll her eyes.

"Why? Am I suppose to?" Her tone clearly expressing her distaste for his cockiness. She hated people who thought they were such big shots.

"No! No, I don't mean to sound full of myself, it's just surprising... I don't know, forget I said anything," Jimin nervously shuffled his feet as he desperately tried not to make a fool of himself, "It's, uh... Park Jimin, by the way."

Yoohee nodded her head, not knowing what else to say. An awkward tension grew between them as they squirmed in their seat silently. Jimin glanced at Yoohee, who was absently staring at the seat in front of her. Probably deep in thought.

Out of the corner of his eye, he watched a cycle that consisted of Yoohee's head slowly falling on one side, her eyes getting heavier, and then her head jerk back up, her mouth wide open and her expression dazed.

This continued for a few minutes, until she had completely fallen asleep, leaving Jimin alone with his thoughts.

Yoohee. Baek Yoohee. What a cute name...
