A poem about ships
Is this a good poem? Not really. Am I proud of it? You bet I am.
A 'ship' is a boat to sail across the sea
To 'ship' is to send something from you to me
'Shipping' is the box holding anything from glue to keys
But my favorite 'shipping' is none of these.
A 'ship' is a red string that binds someone's fate
It's Aphrodite's apple sitting on your plate
It's frustration of being stuck in one place
It's the worm that you bite, even knowing it's bait.
To 'ship' is to delight in the relationships of others
Best friends or siblings, but most often lovers
To stick with them throughout their toils and troubles
To not believe when someone says 'they just seem like brothers'.
To 'ship' is to hear Cupid's arrow in flight
When they talk to each other, when they laugh and they fight
It's the pure joy of reading fanfiction at night
The curiosity of a cliffhanger, the 'Okay, I'll bite'.
To 'ship' is to feel someone's feelings quite strong
To squeal when they kiss−and giggle when they kiss for too long
To cry when they die and facepalm when they're wrong
To laugh when they're happy and to sing their song.
To 'ship' is to be on the edge of your seat
To feel the same spark that they do when they meet
To feel when it sails that your life is complete
To feel between them the tension and heat.
It's not even just about characters−though we love them, it's true!
It's protecting other readers and commenting 'me too!'
It's someone misreading something and everyone cringing. Ooh.
It's someone reading what you've written when you're feeling blue.
A 'ship' is a boat to sail across the sea
To 'ship' is to send something from you to me
'Shipping' is the box holding anything from glue to keys
But my favorite 'shipping' is none of these.
